    Excellent service for all my heating and cooling needs

    I have been dealing with Laird and Sons for 3 years now. They provide annual servicing for my boiler and mini split AC's. My NTI boiler (which was not installed by them) has been having issues and twice they were able to have nti provide parts at no cost to me, they could have easily not bothered and I felt they went above and beyond. All their service technicians are knowledgeable, kind and respectful! It's always a pleasure to deal with them and I can't recommend them enough.

    Product and after sales service

    The company replaced our furnace in 2016 and had been doing the annual maintenance. The annual maintenance is done efficiently and keeps the furnace in good condition.

    Outstanding Expertise, Knowlege and Service--Matt and Rick were very professional

    When Matt and Rick completed our annual furnace cleaning, their attention to detail was extraordinary! With phenomenal skill and expertise, they were able to successfully service our furnace. Matt and Rick's high level of professionalism was shown by their determination to solve all the issues and they would not finish the service call until the furnace was running at 100% capacity. Matt and Rick are an extraordinary team! As the frontline representatives of your company, you are so fortunate to have Matt and Rick, two very talented and skilled professionals, in your employ!

    Boiler Service Call

    As a longtime customer with Laird and Son, their professionalism, attention and knowledge never cease to amaze me. Their company clearly employs top notch staff. From Kyle who arranged the repair of a part to Alex , the technician who performed the service call. Their covid safe protocols are also very much appreciated.

    Excellent Service

    My boiler went out so I contacted Laird. When their technician arrived he diagnosed the problem and the solution (needed a new part). The part was expensive and the diagnosis sounded a bit suspect so I foolishly decided to get a second opinion. Went to another company and got another diagnosis that sounded just wrong to me (and the internet) so recontacted Laird. They got back to me promptly and have just fixed the problem. They'd told me that I'd definitely need a new part and might also need a deep cleaning. After putting in the new part they concluded that I did NOT need the deep cleaning (and so deprived themselves of some business). Dealt with 3 different technicians over 3 days, all were quite pleasant and professional. At all times they came within their specified windows, always kept me informed of what was happening. I could wish the part was less expensive but that is hardly their fault :-(

    Outstanding!

    Despite having a service contract elsewhere I called Laird and Sons on the recommendation of my friend and neighbour. My furnace was playing up and failing to heat, intermittently. I can’t say enough about everyone I encountered throughout this experience- Tracey, who sent someone out the same day; Bryan, who is an absolute delight and so very knowledgeable; Noah, who came to install a new part, so friendly and also very knowledgeable; Mack, who came to quote on a new furnace and took the time to run more diagnostics just in case he could do a temporary fix, another wonderful, knowledgeable and friendly person; and then, today, Chris and Ray, who managed to install venting and a new furnace in a cramped space in an old house so expertly. Thank you all, for your excellent communication, integrity and expertise. Plus those ever-important outstanding people skills. I will absolutely be signing up with Laird and Sons for all future maintenance. I trust them. Gail

    Ductless Air Conditioning

    We needed two new ductless air units in our older Toronto home. We went with this company because they had previously installed our boiler and we were happy with their service. Not so happy now. They sent one of their guys promptly who took a look at the old unit, agreed it needed replacing, confirmed the location for a second new unit and sent us a quote. We signed off on it and set up an installation date two weeks later. When the guys came to install it they refused to do it because the outside unit is at second floor level and they apparently needed a lift. Which was 100% obvious to the first guy and had also been shown on the photos my husband sent them when booking the first appointment. Fine, we agreed to pay for rental of the lift and asked for a new installation date. They ignored our calls for two days then called on Saturday to say they weren’t going to do it at all. Too dangerous apparently. So now we are without A/C during the hottest week of the summer. And scrambling to find another supplier. Completely unimpressed. Why couldn’t they have told us three weeks ago that they weren’t going to be able to do this?? There is absolutely no way that the first guy could have missed seeing the location of the unit. This is NOT good customer service and we won’t be using this company again.

    Negligence with regards to extended warranty that was purchased

    I purchased a furnace from them along with installation. The furnace came with a 5-year warranty and Laird and Son offered, quoted and sold the furnace based on a 10-year warranty (5-year bonus). The 10-year warranty was quoted, written in the invoice and paid for, however, it required that the furnace be registered with the manufacturer within 60 days of the installation. This, like other rebates and paperwork, L&S said that THEY would take care of doing it all. Six years later when a part is needed under warranty, as I found out after calling the manufacturer, L&S failed to register the furnace with the manufacturer within 60 days of installation, and so the furnace warranty was only for the standard 5 years. Of course, L&S wants nothing to do with this anymore because I chose to not use them for the maintenance. And, the extended warranty did not even apply to labour because that required me signing-up for a separate, multi-hundred dollar maintenance contract only with L&S each and every year without interruption). That's negligence on L&S' part that penalizes and costs only the customer. The manufacturer won't honour the 10-year warranty because they stand to sell more equipment, and L&S stands to have another installation.....well, not with me. If it wasn't for a perpetually growing city where losing a client doesn't mean much to a company, these companies would have to be a lot more professional and fight harder to retain customers and their satisfaction. Fly-by-night or so-called reputable professionals...they are all the same.

    not taking responsibility for their jobs

    [you can see how dishonest they can be in their reply. I must respond! First the illegal piece was AT THE FURNACE (SEE PICTURE)... not far away like they pretend! It was at the place where they attached the gaz line just in front on the furnace, HOW COULD THEY HAVE MISSED IT? I did say in my review that I didn't call because of the pandemic. This is what they also refuse to acknowledge. Just do not want to be in anyway helpful. I read some of their answer to complain and find they use this tone of blaming the customer before going out of their way to find solutions... is this how a reputable business work?] Just before the pandemic I had my AC repaired by Laird and Son. I had a compressor problem, they said it was a capacitor problem. I am not an expert... so I let them do their job. It stopped working during summer 2020... middle of pandemic. I wanted to call them after pandemic is over, now they just say I am too late. I hate this kind of company where service does not really mean service!. [As an aside, this is not my first bad impression of them. Some time ago they installed my gas furnace. When they inspect it in 2019, they tell me there is an illegal connector running thread gas fitting (just at the furnace!). But... they installed the furnace to it? And now they charge me an extra $339, taking absolutely no responsibility of their own work. I complained then, I complain again now... their answer, its my responsibility?] So overall I do not recommend at all.

    Duct Cleaning

    I used Laird and Sons for duct cleaning. The gentleman was very professional, full of knowledge and pleasant to deal with. Our vents weren't terribly dirty, but we wanted to make sure nothing has accumulated in the vents over the years. Would recommend Laird and Sons for duct cleaning!
