    New Roof

I called several companies for an estimate as numerous shingles came off my roof after a serious wind storm. Tom from Mega City got back to me the same day, came by my house and assessed the situation. It was time for my roof to be replaced as the shingles had all worn down to the paper. Tom assessed the entire roof...from the roof. This is important as another roofer who arrived for an assessment never left the sidewalk. In 2 minutes he quoted me $3600 for all the repairs without even going on the roof to assess what was required! Another well known roofer couldn't come to assess the roof for 4 days. BAsed on all this, I went with Tom from Mega City. He was polite, thorough, and helped me understand my many options. He then presented a solution that met my needs and kept the price under control. His team arrived as scheduled, put out tarps and boarded windows (they even put a tarp on the car next door). I left them to do their work at 8:30am and returned at 2pm to find a beautiful new roof. They cleaned everything up and used a magnet to sweep for any stray nails. They even did a little bit of free work on my neighbor's roof while they were up there. In the end, Tom's team not only did a fantastic job, but they even came in $250 under the estimate. Workmanship is guaranteed for 10 years. I took a bunch of Tom's business cards as a number of the other houses in my area need some work and I intend on making sure they know who to go to for a job well done! Thanks Tom!

    new roof, skylights

After buying a house in July 2011, we noticed our roof was pretty warped (and a roofer came by to inspect and almost fell through our roof; the plywood was shot in certain areas). The problem was we didn't have enough air intake. We had a number of different roofers come by. Mega City Roofing gave us a quote. and Tom seemed pretty trustworthy (we read the reviews here). We paid a little more for a 15 year warranty. And in August, Tom and his company came by and did the work. Cleanup was pretty good, and everyone seemed friendly. The first problem occurred during the start of the cold season. We could feel a draft in our skylights. I called Tom, and he came out and used Great Stuff spray foam to fill gaps where wind was getting through. The draft situation is much better now. A far more serious problem developed during the winter. Condensation was collecting in our attic, and the water was dripping through to the second floor of the house through the ceiling. Our attic was so wet and dripping you could have probably taken a shower. At the time, we were very upset because this situation was the reason we paid 9K to avoid. The lack of air intake and warped plywood was the reason we had roofers basically replace our roof. I complained (somewhat bitterly) to Tom, and he eventually agreed to come out to take a look. 9K is a lot of money to me, and at the time when his company did work on our roof, he said we didn't need whirlybird turbines on our roof. The situation was pretty unpleasant. Well, as it turns out, the house builder, Monarch (according to the real estate listing), had 2 by 4s and drywall in behind the soffits, essentially blocking all air intake. Tom got his worker to come by, and they installed two whirlybird turbines. They also went around the perimeter of the house knocking out pieces of the 2 by 4s to let air intake through. I can't blame Tom for not knowing the builder decided to completely seal off any possibility of air intake to our attic when building the house. Tom said he'd never seen anything like that before, and I was also pretty flabbergasted. Anyway, although I could tell Tom didn't really want to come by (probably because I had been fairly accusatory), he did (a lot of contractors don't bother after they get their money), and he did what he could to help resolve my concerns. Our attic is dryer now (and seems to be drying out; plywood, from what I can see just popping my head up in the attic seems dry). I'm not sure if the problem is completely resolved, but it's certainly much better than it was. I'm thankful that Tom came by again and helped us out. Most contractors probably would have left us hanging out to dry (literally). In the end, Mega City Roofing stands by their work. A lot of companies don't. Thank you, Tom

    Flat roof redo

This is all I can say. They were fast, the right price and did an amazing job cleaning up. For slight overages (an extra board or two), they didn't charge extra, and just got it done. While they had the roof off, they rebuilt the bathroom vent properly and patched up the seams on the regular part of my roof while they were at it; all in the same day for little extra.

    Roof Replacement

Settled on Tom and his company after a drawn out process of selecting a vendor. The job was for a roof replacement on a semi with a flat roof so not the most straightforward job. He was the most professional and responsive of the bunch and took the time to educate along the way. Quotes for the job and how to approach the job was across the spectrum so this was a choice on trust and instinct. The job was completed to spec and on time with thorough cleanup. Recommended.

    new roof on our bungalow

An experienced crew of 7 managed to do the whole thing in record time - before the winter set in. Very professional and skilled. Cleaned up and protected our windows, etc as they worked. One piece of advice to others - we were left with black specks on our front walk and back patio from the old roof. These get tracked into the house. Small complaint. The price was good and the job was first class.

    roofing leak

I seemed to have a leak in the roof over the enclosed porch. I only purchased the property last year in 2010 but I knew that the roof was new. I called around. Megacity happened to be in the neighbourhood that day. The worker stopped by, fixed the small problem with the flashing and he was on his way. I like doing busy quickly and efficiently. It is great that he stopped by so quickly. You might want to give the guys a call. I was impressed.

    New Roof

Had to reshingle the roof due to leaking in the Spring of this year. Had just moved in and apparently the previous roofing job had been done incorrectly over the dormer. Mega redid the roof with step flashing. It's a big roof and very steep. They recommended to add eavestroughing on either side of the dormer to direct the water runoff away from the shingling and into the gutters. The cost seemed a little high but the roof is very large and they had to remove the existing shingles, I went with the 25-yr shingles, and the ice & water membrane. I haven't had trouble with the leaking since, and they did a good job cleaning up the yard afterwards.

    Garage Flat Roof

My garage flat roof was in desparate need of replacement. The roof at the back was so water damaged that a significant hole could be seen once they got the old tar and gravel removed. The rotten wood damage was that bad. Tom and his crew are fantastic and that's why I had them back for this job after redoing my house shingles about 4 years ago. Tom goes out of his way to help you understand what is required, explains the process, is NEVER pushy, and just an all around great guy. He'll answers all questions and address any concerns. I highly recommend Tom and his crew. This is the ONLY roofing company you should hire!
