    every project, every product imaginable

    I am a stylist for design television as well print and anyone in this biz can tell you it is getting more & more difficult to get support from retailers. They have become fatigued with our whole process- little return for so much effort. Pat & Co have saved my hide time after time. They have organised, delivered, assembled so many sets for me on a moments notice. I love their selection, knowledge and humour. I will always reccommend them to private clients and friends and I will continue to source them first for style, availability & ease. The unfortunate experiences described here must be so frustrating for all involved. I used to own a furniture store myself and you are so reliant on suppliers, shippers, customs, strikers that your word is often broken...it goes both ways. Anyhooo- I love you GH!

    Bedroom, Livingroom and Nursery

    I got married in 2006 and ordered my bedroom furniture from G. H. Johnson's. I was helped by the sales manager, Kennedy. He was a great! I explained to him what I wanted and what my price range was. We ended up buying our furniture the same day, it was perfect and our bedroom looks great. After the wedding we decided to furnish our livingroom. We went back and spoke with Kennedy. I explained to him the measurements of the room and the colour of the walls. Once again Kennedy was great and helped us with choosing the perfect couches. We get compliments on our livingroom all the time. We are now expecting our first child and decided to go and see what nursery furniture they had. We ordered our baby’s furniture from there too and again, Kennedy was our sales rep. We get compliments on our furniture all the time. We would recommend G. H. Johnson’s to everyone who is looking for quality and great customer service. I don’t bother going anywhere else when looking for furniture. Our experience has been a great one.

    Loads of furniture

    We have bought all sorts of furniture from G.H. Johnson's over the years. the prices are simply unbeatbale. the selection is totally unlimited. The showroom is fine and there's little in the way of showroom floor sales support (it's there but you chase them rather than the other way around) but from the selection to the prices to the delivery and after-sales service Pat and his people are in a league of their own. If you need to spend $$$ on furniture you'd be nuts to not go here. Shop around, you'll see.

    Recently purchased a couch, chairs and table...

    Recently purchased a couch, leather chair, bar chairs and an ottoman from Johnson's. The service was excellent.... They had great suggestions regarding the "right" couch and fabrics. They also went searching for just the right leather chair (which wasn't easy to find as it was in another building!) Also the prices are fantastic - I've been shopping there for 10 years and highly recommend it especially for selection and price!

    Living room furniture (2 chairs, 1 couch)

    Back in January/08 we ordered 2 chairs and a couch and were promised delivery in 6-8 weeks. At the 9th week, called to follow up, as we hadn't heard anything. Was told that materials were on back order and it would be ready in 2 weeks. Called again at week 11 and told it was ready and would be at the store next week. Called again once each week for the next 4 weeks and was repeatedly given the same story, then at the last, told that materials were still not in and it would be another 2-3 weeks. Asked for a discount and suddenly my furniture was ready to be delivered. Kennedy and Helena are useless - neither one of them return calls and neither one seem at all interested in providing customer service (Kennedy actually had the gaul to offer us a gift certificate to the store, amount unknown, as compensation - like we would ever shop there again!). Spoke with Pat, the owner, and was told he would work out a discount - still waiting to hear back. In the meantime, we were assured that the balance owing would not be charged to us until we had worked out a deal. Imagine my shock when I discovered the full amount was charged to my credit card this morning!!!! Called to find out why, apparently no one knows how the charge could have gone through (the ghost of visa strikes again!). Being in a customer service driven industry, I cannot fathom how this place stays in business with such disregard for the customers it serves. Kennedy actually tried to convince us to buy our nursery furniture there - thank goodness we didn't, or we probably wouldn't have it until our child was a year old!!!! Prices may be good, but the hassle and atrocious customer service sure aren't worth it!

    bedroom set

    I've been a loyal customer of G.H Johnson's for several years now and have always find great products for unbelievable prices! The staff is friendly and not pushy like I've found many other furniture stores to be. I love everything I've bought fromthis store and highly recommend it to everyone I know!

    bedroom set

    I think some of the other reviews here either have an axe to grind, have ridiculous customer service expectations, or are simply abrasive themselves, creating a predisposition towards "bad service", because I had a great experience with GHJ, buying a full bedroom set. I had no trouble flagging down a salesperson after browsing the warehouse and deciding on what I wanted. On delivery (which as is an oft-noted a weak point) the merchandise was on time and promptly and professionally assembled and arranged for us. Well worth it and highly recommended. I've also bought furniture from GHJ for the office and found it to be a great experience as well.

    purchased 4 chairs

    Recently I had phoned in to confirm a purchase of 4 chairs from G H Johnson. I was told that they would be ready for pick-up in 1 week and that they needed my Visa number in order to proceed with purchase. Needless to say after waiting 1 week the chairs were NOT available however they managed to charge me in full for them on my Visa card. After leaving many messages to see what was going on(and no return calls) I finally got in touch with the owner (PAT)and was told that the chairs were not going to be in for at least 2 more months and I could have some loaner chairs while I waited. I was so fed up that I just asked for my money back (which took 2 more weeks to get) and gave up on the chairs. The store has decent product and reasonable prices but the customer service is so bad that it is hardly worth the aggravation of dealing with them.

    DINING ROOM

    Nov 15 07 purchased a dining room table, sideboard and armoir.Five months later I have only the sideboard, delivered today.Delivery was delayed because they table was damaged however they sent another one, also damaged.No followup on their behalf,inconsistent excuses,no sense of urgency and simply pathetic customer service.Wrote to Mr Hudson, no response.This company does not care about anything other then revenue.Being in the customer service business myself,this is absolutely the lowest level of service I could imagine.I WILL BE TELLING EVERYONE ABOUT THIS POOR PERFORMING COMPANY AND WILL NEVER EVER SHOP THERE AGAIN.

    Dining table and full length mirror

    Mid November 2007, my husband and I visited the stoor. Really liked the selection and styles and found staff to be helpful. Bought a trestle table ($800+) and a mirror ($200+) for delivery the following week. First day, table fell over in truck and broke. We only found out after calling the store when no table or mirror materialized. Delivery was set for the following week. Arrived as promised and guys were really friendly and helpful. Noticed once they were gone that table had scratches as did mirror. Called Glen at store and was assured that he'd send replacements when the truck was back in our area. It is now mid-April 2008 and we are still waiting. I've been in to the store where Glen showed me a table that would be refinished and shipped to me and a mirror was tagged to replace the one we have. Every few weeks when I would call to inquire about, he would give me a different reason for the delay (we're getting your table from Asia, the shipment is delayed on the water, we're getting you a table from an estate sale but it's tied up,...). In March called to speak to Kennedy the Manager. He assured me that he'd look into it and would call me back. The following week I called to follow up. He said that he'd look into it and call me back later. When I called a few days later, he put me on hold and then put on Mark - Thank goodness. Mark was professional and friendly. He promised to look into it and then get back to me and was true to his word. I should be receiving the replacement table on Tuesday (5 months after purchase).
