    Basement Renovation

We originally contacted NewRidge Refinishing about 3 years ago and Matt came in and did an amazing job installing new hardwood floors on our main floor and he also sanded and re-stained our existing stairs to match. When we needed to install new flooring in our basement due to flooding, there was no doubt in my mind who I was going to call. Matt came out again in February 2016 and did another fantastic job - he installed engineered hardwood flooring in our basement and also put new treads on our existing stairs and stained them to match the flooring. I can't say enough about how easy NewRidge Refinishing and Matt made the whole process - Matt`s attention to detail and work ethic are unparalleled. We couldn`t be happier.

    Second Time ...

I did my house in 2 stages and the first job was amazing but NewRidge outdid themselves on the second visit. I asked the original job be rebuffed as I had done a lot of renovations and with it, a lot of dust, paint spots, scrapes on the floor. The floors (both originally done and newly done) are absolutely beautiful and they even did the stairs I had since put in to the basement. Arranged and accommodated my changing the dates, came exactly as stipulated and completed on time and per their quote. I would not hesitate to and have recommended them numerous times. Marrianne

    Ground floor hardwood refinishing

This company definitely lived up to its reputation. Excellent communication via Scott, and a fantastic job by Sebastian and his team taking a prefinished floor from very dark stain to natural oak. Impressive hand detailing around old baseboards, and an incredibly even job. We look forward to working with them again to install hardwood through the rest of the house.

Whole house flooring and staircase renovation

We bought a house in Whitby in September 2015 (just got around to posting this now). We had three bedrooms, the hallways, living room, dinning room, stairs and banister done in a dark hardwood with white spindles. Our contractors for the bathroom, who were originally flooring guys, said they couldn't have done a job as nice as this one was. It looks absolutely fantastic a year later and I would choose NewRidge again without questions.

    New Staircase, Railings and Banister

We worked with Sebastian and his team for a complete renovation on our staircase. It was very creaky, painted dark, narrow and the pickets had seen lots damage from the previous owner's dog. I reached out after finding the great reviews on HomeStars and found all the communication quick, easy and professional. After receiving a few quotes in a similar range, we went with this team because of the reputation and the ease of communication. Sebastian was by to quote within two days and the project was scheduled exactly as we required. The team worked with us to achieve our goals - a lighter feel, no noise, more space on the stairs and a more cohesive look. We are thrilled with the result. Every person who worked on the project was on time, experienced, friendly, tidy and professional. They were simply a pleasure to work with and were thoughtful about what was done on site at our place versus outside or in their shop. We were done in 4 days and able to use our stairs throughout. Sebastian even came and did an additional coat of varnish on our stairs one week later, just to give it a final touch. We would be happy to recommend the team and all of the trade professionals that came in to build and paint.

New 2nd floor in old old house

I have a 2 story house built in 1880 with an addition built in 1930...the 2nd floor is very uneven and squeaky and until now was hidden underneath a rank carpet. Sebastien and his crew removed the carpet, squeaking and unevenness in 3 days. It was a painless experience and the installed hardwood looks great. Scott was very efficient in managing the quote and shepherding the process. This company knows how to do what they do.

    2nd floor hardwood installation

I first got in touch with Newridge when I was looking for a new house - I was looking for ballpark quote on hardwood, and Scott responding very promptly, which helped my wife and I make an informed decision. When we eventually bought a different house, I got in contact with Scott to do about ~1,200sqft of hardwood floors in it. He sent Sebastien out to have a look, and I had a full quote in hand within a day or two. We decided to do the carpet removal ourselves to save a bit of money, which they were happy to accommodate. We also included a buff of the stairs in the quote, which were previously covered with a carpet runner. A week or so before the work began Sebastien came by again with samples so we could choose the wood. We were doing our best to match an existing one, and he helped guide us towards the right choice. The work began on a Monday and there were a couple of complications: 1) The stairs were in too rough of shape for buffing to be useful (they need restaining) 2) The nosings at the top of the stairs and edge of the landing were too low (the old flooring was carpet, which sat lower than the new hardwood). Sebastien recommended foregoing dealing with the stairs for now, and had to bring in someone else to deal with the nosings (someone who specialized in stairs, I believe - because the pickets had to be removed to raise the nosings). The price was adjusted accordingly for both of these changes. The work was completed ahead of scheduled and is absolutely perfect - not a scratch anywhere. One thing to note is that Newridge doesn't do the work themselves, they hire others (in my case, Sebastien of Mr. Sandman). This wasn't obvious to me at first, but is clear when reading their website. Based on my experience I'm confident Newridge doesn't hire bad contractors, but I can only speak directly to the work done by Sebastien & Mr. Sandman.

Thanks Ben for taking the time to write a review. It was a pleasure for both Sebastian, myself and his crew to work with you. I do want to make one comment in regards to Ben's last point. He is 100% correct we partner with independent contractors that do great quality of work and how our company operates is explained in full detail on our website. But to further clarify we do not hire or sub-trade the contractors are invited and remain in the group as long as they continue to meet certain criteria. We are two sided business to benefit both the consumer in finding the right contractor to work with and as well for the contractor helping them with state of the art customer service for clients and access to marketing opportunities with an ever growing brand. We will also be expanding our business including offering additional services like a new financing solution for the homeowner. Feel free to contact us for more info. Please keep us in mind for any future projects and let your friends and family know if they are looking to update there hardwood floors and/or stairs. Thanks again. Regards, Scott

Install and finish new oak floor

After having NewRidge refinish an oak floor a couple of years ago, we had them back again to install and finish a matching oak floor in a new addition. You couldn't ask for a better home renovation experience or a more professional company to deal with. Scott who managed the job correspondence, and Matt who worked on our floors, are every bit as good as the many reviews on this site state. We feel lucky to have found this company and are already planning to extend our new floor into the adjacent room, because of their beautiful and efficient work.

    Hardwood floor refinishing

Matt came and gave us an estimate on refinishing the original hardwood floors in our 50-year old home. He was honest in his estimate about what may or may not be fixable by sanding and very clear and friendly. He left our home VERY clean and the new floors look terrific! At my request he removed and numbered the oak quarter-round and gave me very helpful advice about how to sand it myself this including giving me enough of the satin varathane to use. We felt comfortable leaving him a key to work while we went away for the weekend. I would be very happy to have him back.
