    Hardwood floor replacement

We removed an old carpet and ancient tiles in a bedroom in our 100 yr old house with a view to renovating the hardwood beneath but it was not suitable for refinishing and needed replacing. Upon contacting the company they replied immediately, viewed and provided an estimate very promptly. The work took 4 days to complete starting with unfinished wood and was done within one week from the first contact. Matt took the utmost care to do a superb job. He removed all the materials (plus more junk) and left the place spotless. I would have absloutely no hesitation in recommending the company and using them again. Thank you.

Matched & Refinished Hard Wood Floors

Have a 60 year old house and had the hallway floor and kitchen matched to the original hard wood oak flooring then had all the floors refinished and stained darker (Antique Brown). Looks great, the match is seamless and the original red colour is now gone. They worked Saturday and Sunday to meet the deadline, which really impressed me.

    New stairs & Refinishing

We ripped up the carpet on the stairs when we moved in and realized half the stairs were fine, but the landing and up were just awful (see photos). This house is nearly 100 years old and those stairs looked like it. We called NewRidge and got a reasonable quote in a prompt fashion from Scott. We wondered whether it was possible to install new stairs and a landing over the ugly ones to match the grain and colour of the first flight. Joe installed the stairs in an efficient and excellent manner. He corrected the backwards tilt of the staircase due to settling and finished the job in half a day, including a thorough clean up. Sebastian then did the staining and varnishing. We cannot express how grateful we are to him for taking the time to carefully match the colour. Af first it looked great, but then dried to a lighter shade overnight. He returned the next day with a new stain and redid the entire job! This time it was dead on -- you cannot tell the difference between the two stain colours (one applied in 1921 and one applied this week!)). We appreciate his dedication to his work and to ensuring customer satisfaction. It seems like a miracle to us. Sebastian even quickly sanded and varnished the old stairs for no extra charge to freshen them up compared to the new ones. This made the job really complete. Our staircase is a beautiful and seamless mix of new and old. We love the colour, we love the satin finish, and we love the sturdiness and quality of the new stairs. Cheers to NewRidge's team of helpful, prompt, and dedicated employees. We couldn't have had a nicer experience! Highly recommended.

    Refinished Oak Hardwood Floors

Just wanted to take a moment and thank you for the excellent job on refinishing our floors. Matt did an unbelievable job. The whole experience was done in a very stress free and professional manner. (Unlike some dealings with other contractors.) We have been getting compliments on the floors and any opportunity I have to refer people to you I will.

    Stair refinishing & painting.

A superb job. After carpet removal our steps seemed to be in such poor shape as to require replacement. After Sebastian & his crew were done it was as if our staircase had replaced. I had to look closely at the treads to see if they were actually our old treads, just professionally restored. It certainly has renewed the appearance of our foyer. Naturally everything was done in a punctual , professional manner with a thorough cleanup at the end of the job. Highly recommended!

Replaced builder installed natural oak to Mocha coloured maple

NewRidge was the first to respond to our email estimate request (Sat.Nov.2). Sebastian came Fri.Nov.8 to go over our selection. After we met with Sebastian we decided not to interview other contractors because he was very personable and understood what we wanted. Sebastian deliveried all the wood in by himself on Nov.12. On Nov.13 at 7:00 a.m. Sebastian, Paul, and Vinny arrived to start removing the previous oak floor. They knew we wanted to keep the wood so they worked carefully and quickly to remove it. Paul did an amazing job to make the new maple wood transition to the marble threshold without a premade reducer. They even replaced the damaged quarter rounds. These guys worked very hard and completed the job by mid-afternoon without a lunch break. We were happy with the look of our newly installed floor which matched our kitchen cabinets perfectly. Scott was very quick to respond to any questions by email. Sebastian is also to be commended on his follow-up service. He checked the floors and explained why we heard some sounds. They were right about our floors just settling and needing a humidifier in the home. We noticed that the sounds disappeared after having walked over those areas a few times. I love my beautiful floor and highly recommend this company to anyone looking for quality service. We appreciated the prompt follow-up.

Thank you Dawn for the review. I'll definitely pass the message on to Sebastian and the guys. I'll also let him know about the creaking in some spots. Once I speak with him I'll let you know some possible solutions. UPDATE: Sebastian saw the floor the same day and he diagnosed the issue as the floor settling after he walked over the questionable areas and it stopped. It usually does that after about a week. Hardwood floor refinishing & repair

My oak floors (approx. 620 sq ft.) looked terrible because the original bleached oak finish was wearing off and parts of the floor were darkening from me using water over many years to wash them (don't do this). I needed to do something quickly because we had just bought a new home and needed to sell the old one asap. I decided to use NewRidge based on the HomeStars reviews. The office staff were polite and organized and accommodated me quickly. When Sebastian came to estimate the job, he explained everything fully. On the first day of the job, he and his crew arrived promptly and were professional, clean and courteous .Sebastian taught me how to properly care for the new floors as well. My friends and family could not believe how beautiful my floors looked (like new) and our house sold quickly. Once we got to work on our new (older) house, had torn out the old carpets and discovered the original hardwood underneath, we called NewRidge again and asked for Sebastian. The floors in the new house also needed some repair in addition to sanding. Sebastian repaired the floors seamlessly and again did an amazing job of refinishing them. I highly recommend Sebastian and NewRidge if you want to make sure the job is done extremely well and on schedule.

    Hardwood floor refinishing

My wife and I bought a 2400 sq. ft. house and the previous owner had a very unique taste of red color, but it's not our style so we hired NewRidge to refinish the whole house (main/2nd floor). We are picky on selecting contractors since we had really bad experience years ago. The criteria we are looking for are: (1) Highest quality work, (2) Good customer service, (3) Being on-time at job site, (4) No delay on the whole project, and (5) Reasonable price. I can tell you NewRidge has exceeded our expectation with stunning result, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to any of our friends. Before the project even started, Scott the owner of the business has been amazing in terms of responding to emails, he even replied on weekends! The whole deal was done through email, basically Scott provided the quote/contract, details of the job description and the job began. Gabor (Scott's partner) and his team has been extremely professional, friendly and most importantly showing up on time at our house and completed the project within the agreed time frame, since we had a schedule line up for other contractors to do their work, so timing was critical. Our hardwood floor now looks so beautiful, thank you so much. My rating is 9.8 out of 10. There are 0.2 points being so close to perfect. Sorry, we are not trying to be picky, we want to bring several minor points to Scott and Gabor's attention. I hope that also helps other potential customers reading the review. Firstly, we kind of expected imperfection on the floor finish and we saw couple of small wood splinters (1/2" to 3/4" inch) trapped under the polyurethane after the 1st coat of varnish. Gabor told us in between coats of varnishes, whole floor would got buffed/sanded to get rid of those trapped debris, well, yes the wood splinters went flat after the buff/sand. After the final coat was applied, you can still see the bump and color difference, so it added unique character to the floor :) Honestly speaking, they are generally and totally acceptable since people won't be laying down to examine the floor. Don't get it wrong, we are very happy with the overall result. Even after we installed 25 pot lights on the main floor, you don't really notice any imperfection. The other thing we want to mention is the quarter around, when Gabor (or some other sub-contractors) put the quarter around back, we expected them to be restored to the original state, i.e. they had to be caulked/wood filled (to cover the nails) and possibly painted. As you can see in photos, some of them were damaged and stains were on the baseboard. Luckily I had experience in fixing all these by myself, I spent almost 2 days to caulk/paint and replaced some badly damaged ones with mitre saw + nail gun. I would suggest this is something NewRidge can work on to include/exclude the details of what will be done to the quarter around on the quote. For such a large job I don't think people would mind to pay to get them fixed properly. My 2 cents. I have been doing a lot of DIY projects myself, when you see your contractors are using Festool (see one of the photos I took), you know these guys are seriously Pros. You won't hire a photographers for your wedding photos if they only have an entry level lens and DSLR, right? We have a friend of ours hired a general contractor to refinish their stairs (to 2-tone), the guy didn't take the railing and pickets apart and he just painted them on the spot. NewRidge did it the right way by taking them down, this is something for potential customers who are reading this review, you need to consider this when you compare with the other floor re-finishers. The dust level in the house was way lower than I expected, maybe it's the high quality equipment with dust control they were using. Also, garbage was handled properly, Garbor and his team didn't leave the wood finish dust indoor or in the garage. Experienced contractors will leave it on your grass outdoor, simply because it can cause fire by spontaneous combustion if rags soaked in combustible and flammable liquids is mixed floor dust in airtight bags. If you hire inexperienced floor finishers, they can burn down your house. Serious stuff, you can tell NewRidge cares about the safety. Overall, Gabor and his team worked very hard, nailed the color and the sheen level we wanted. An outstanding job! Without the v-groove, it even looks better than the factory finished hard wood floor. We love it! Again, thanks Scott, Gabor and his team (John + other guys) making our house look so stunning. Look at the before and after pictures, cannot believe it's the same house! For reference: We had MinWax Ebony 2278 with Absco semi-gloss polyurethane. Simon

Hi Simon & Debbie, Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a detailed review with the detailed photos. We reallllllyyyy appreciate the time you took to put all this together!!!! Simon and I discussed the issues mentioned above to the few areas of concerns. To anyone reading this review I discussed this concern with Gabor and we will do a much better job of explaining the pros and cons of re-using existing quarter round versus supplying and installing new. Even though there are cost savings its worth the minor extra cost to replace the quarter round in some cases. Thanks again Simon & Debbie for taking the time to write a thorough and detailed review. Gabor and I really appreciate your efforts. Warmest Regards, Scott

    New Hardwood Floors

Sebastian and crew did an amazing job. From start to finish, they were punctual, professional, and reasonable. Not only did Sebastian recommend a floor, he pointed out that a contrasting trim would open up our small space. He was right. Dark floors and painted out trim has dramatically changed the feel of our home. We couldn't be more pleased. Special mention must go to Paul in particular. He's the hardest working craftsman I have ever met. He blew us away with his attention to detail, and he kept the job ahead of schedule. Great company to work with. I wouldn't think twice about hiring them again!

    Refinished parquet and Stairs

Our parquet floor and stairs were about 30 years old and had that orange tint to it and appeared damaged . Matt did a beautiful job sanding it and repairing the damaged spots. I now love the parquet!Excellent work. Everything was done as promised.
