The most terribly managed moving company. Lost my fridge parts and damaged the house. Not even returning my call. The workers were polite and nice but the owner was horrible. Please don't use them.

What a brutal experience.I shopped around for the best price and North York was the cheapest giving me a $900 dollar flat rate so I was comfortable if the workers were a little slow/lazy. When the movers arrived they refused to start saying that "they don't work on flat rates" I told them that was the deal but unfortunately it was done over the phone and I didn't have a written contract I could show them.They started working but were continually cursing and swearing and running through the house with our stuff. Finally the foreman told me they were not going to work past 9 hours and if stuff was left behind in the old house so be it. We had a heated exchange and I called the company and spoke the owner (Joseph) who was rude and nothing was resolved. I then had to call the estimator who didn't arrive to work till 11am and he said there was no flat rate that it was hourly. I told him I lived in Ajax and you guys are in North York-do you think I would hire you and have to pay 3 hour travel time (there and back) Well I finally had to agree to an hourly rate and when I spoke to the movers they were quite happy and of course the move went to a snails pace. At 9:30am there were asking for beer,rum and cigarettes. They badly scratched our dinning room table,leather sofa (x2) and broke the legs of one of our kitchen chairs (and didn't say anything) Also one guy plugged up our toilet 4 times. This company is brutal so you have been warned- DO NOT USE NORTH YORK MOVERS

I agree with those that recommended not to use, unfortunately I did not listen. I highly recommend you not using, they seem shady. My nightmare began when they showed up a few days ago late by 1/2 hr and with a Uhaul truck; the moving lead was quoted and said I was incorrectly quoted as there was no way it was one run and would take 10 hrs. I was shocked as it was the owner who had quoted me after doing a walk through and said it would take approx 10 hrs. They were moving a 2300 sq ft 4 bd room home They started at 9:30 am and ended at 8:30 pm with my family moving and putting the stuff in the required areas of my new house as they put them only inside. They would have had to go back to my old location to get the remaining stuff after 8:30pm aprox 30 mins away. I have never experienced such and on top of it the lead was cursing a family member quite vocallly in the new neighborhood. It was most empbarassing. The owner of the compny did nothing, and has never called to see if my stuff was delivered ok. He then refued to speak ith me as I was upset. As far as I was concerned they broke their contract. The owner said I was able to pay them cash; however they REFUSED to give an invoice. I agree they are scammers and the most unprofessional company I have ever had to deal with. I will be calling the Better Business Bureau about them. I must say there were 2 guys part of the team that were most kind and did apologise. They should find another company to work for.

I was moving from a 1900 square foot townhouse to a detached home. One of the owners of North York Moving came to estimate the cost of the move. He estimated $979.00, 3 men, 1 truck. The actual cost was over $1400!!! The 3 movers were very nice, very polite and worked very hard. But they had to do 2 trips and 2 FULL truckloads! How could the estimate be so far off?? An experienced, owner estimator and the price/time was 50% more than estimated?? He had even toured my house before making that estimate. Althought the actual moving team was very good, I would never, ever recommend this company. Seems like the estimate versus total cost is a scam!

I have moved with North york moving & storage on october the 10th, and I would like to say: Thank you NORTH YORK MOVING for the best service. I had 3 guys and a big truck i think a 28' foot or so, the guys were great, professional, fast, and very friendly. I would highly recommend NYM as a professional moving company.

I moved two weeks ago and i had NORTH YORK MOVING & STORAGE to do my move, on the moving day they came 20 mins late then i start thinking twice, but i was wrong. they asked to show 'em what they're doing and what the stuff they're moving, after i showed them everything they brought a bunch of blankets and all the right supplies to complete the job. I felt comfortable to be honest and i started watching them and they were really really professional, I booked this job over the phone and they send me 3 guys with a truck and I got 4 hrs minimum of labour and 1hr of travel as I remember, but the job was over that but they worked hard and they were extremly fast, the job ended being 7hrs to complete the job. they moved me from toronto to oakville. i was realy happy with their service and i really recomend this compan.

I would like to thank Best Time for helping make our weekend move easy. Our initial moving company never showed up and we were desperate to move. We filled out forms and called every moving company we could call and considering it was late on Sunday we couldn't get anyone on the phone. Finally we got a call back from Olivia at north york moving & storage and she promised us she could have us picked up the next day. We were very pleased with the move and nothing was broken or damaged in any way. Thank you for saving us!

I've moved 3 times in the past, most of the time with different companies but I just had the best move in my life on the last week with north york moving & storage. They gave us a very accurate estimate ,and help us plan our move. Soon Joseph (from the company)called us and confirmed the job and went over the details. He also seemed very polite and professional, and assured us everything is going as it planed and the movers will come tomorrow @ 9 am. Not only did they show up on time but they packed nearly our entire apartment. Shortly after arriving, the Forman provided us with detailed information about the day and they started to work right away. Thank god they came with extra boxes and moving supplies and actually that we didn't even realize we will be needed! The packing obviously took much longer but once we arrived at our house they unpacked us in record time and even help us to reassemble some of our furniture. This was a painless move and really had a great time with the movers. The guys were very nice and honest and they couldn’t' t make the move more faster and more efficient and I must say, we were extremely pleased with their service. Very fast, friendly and efficient and very professional company which I wouldn't hesitate to use again and highly recommend to everybody!

I strongly advise that anyone who wants to use their service stay away. They are a nightmare they told me it would take 10 hours to move a 1800 sq ft townhouse and ended up taking 24 hours. Never have I experienced moving in 2 days never heard of such a thing.. I have moved from larger homes with more furniture and it was all done in one day. They are scammers and thieves, they over charged my move and on top of it tools, shelves, and other items went missing. I have tried resolving the issue but they are very unprofessional and I would never use their service or recommend it. I am getting the Toronto Sun and anyone else invloved as this company should not be in business. Please stay away.. they are unprofessional and theives.
