We had arranged last week with Northwood Heating and Air Conditioning for our annual A/C spring maintenance. John arrived well within the 2-hour window. He was courteous, professional, and efficient. He used the side door as requested, wore shoe covers upon entering the house, and cleaned up the areas in which he worked -- even putting off the lights when he was done. No detail was too small for John to attend to -- from checking the humidifier vent shut-off to inspecting the quality of the filter to hosing clean the evaporator coils outside. The standards are higher with the people at Northwood than with some other companies that we have used over the past 35 years. This is the normal quality of service we get when dealing with their staff. It is always a pleasant and stress free visit because they treat our needs and our home as though they were their own. We look forward to dealing with Northwood again in the fall.

We've been trying to resolve a leak in our central AC for 2.5 months now. Northwood has come out three times now, and each time has managed to get our AC working for short periods (ranging from 1-2 days to 1 month), but nothing permanent. The owner is sending technicians back to do another leak test this week, so we're still holding out hope that we can get this resolved. Very frustrating.

Northwood did a wonderful job installing our ductwork. We own a 100 year old bowling alley in East York. Space was very limited and they devised a way to run ducts to the second floor of the home(this was not done when the addition was added) without us losing any of our limited space. They matched any of the other resonable quotes we received and completed the work in a short timeframe considering the areas the had to work in. They worked into the early morning ensuring that we had heat in the home the same day. They returned promptly the next day to do any small touch ups that were needed and corrected my A/C install that was completed haphazardly by another contractor. During the entire install process, the staff was absolutely friendly and respectful of our home. Northwood has by far been my best experience with contractors to date. My air conditioner was icing up and I had Northwood take a look at it. The serviceman, John, was very courteous and explained that the problem could be related to several things. He changed the timing belt and adjusted the position of the motor. I asked him to check the freon gas level and get his thoughts on the return air duct. Overall, I'm happy with the service. My only comment for improvement would be for John to check the entire system and make suggestions on how to improve the efficiency of the AC.

We had Gary from Northwood quote on a new furnace and air conditioning system for our 130 year old Victorian home. After reading all of the reviews on Homestars, I thought that they might be a bit pricey, but they actually had a very reasonable estimate. The installers (Derrol, Art, Santo and Jermaine- under the direction of Gary and Brian) did an amazing, thorough and incredibly tidy job- even though some of it was very difficult. Gary even came back on a Saturday morning to replace a gas line to our stove and bring some shut-offs up to code (a 3 hour job)- for free. I was absolutely amazed that he would do this. I would highly recommend Gary and Brian and their team. They are true professionals- and they are truly nice people.

After finishing a major renovation and having dealt with a variety of contractors, we highly recommend Northwood Heating and Air Conditioning. They have gained our trust, loyalty and repeated business. We have used Northwood for a number of jobs: furnace cleaning, gas line installation, duct cleaning and re-routing existing heating ducts. The owners, Gary and Brian, offer superior customer service, fair pricing, education for the homeowner for what is really needed, experienced and prompt crews and the assurance that each job is always done correctly and safely. No wonder they were chosen as an official contractor to Holmes on Homes. We have been very impressed with this company from our initial contact with Josie in the office and our discussions with Gary and Brian. They took the time to answer our questions, make suggestions and help find solutions to all of our concerns. Not once have we felt that we were being taken advantage of, in fact, Gary even told us to hold off on a few things because our current equipment still had some life left in it! That's why we appreciate Northwood's honest approach and are looking forward to the installation of our new furnace and hot water tank that they will be providing in the near future.

John and Edward arrived to service our 8 year old ductless air conditioner the other day. They were prompt, courteous and thorough in their work. Very happy with our first experience using Northwood and certainly plan to use them again moving forward.

Jermaine and Derrol were outstanding in their work, cleanliness and above all personalities showing friendliness and respect and willingness to answer any questions. Prompt arrival also. A job well done!

We found Gary and Brian through the TV show " Holmes on Homes " Gary and 1 of his apprentices came and installed a new furnace for us. Gary was patient and creative with the lack of room to work with ! Everything said and done Gary was able to add his personal touch. After he installed our new furnace we recommended him to our son for a new air conditioner!

Maintenance was required on the old furnace in our newly purchased house. Choose Northwood based on web research (Mike Holmes, Homestars). Service was professional, clean and delivered high quality/value. Gentleman did not mind the minor supervision and was happy to answer any inquiries. Was even interested in discussing his career, the business, etc. Very friendly. Experience did not feel transactional.
