    No call back!! or reinbursement!!

    We purchased a service plan last fall that included maintenance on our furnace and air conditioner. Prior to turning on the air conditioner a couple of weeks ago, we had Shiptons service technician out to fulfill their commitment with the air conditioner. The service technician spent a good hour or so preparing and cleaning the unit. He advised that the unit was good to go but we would need a new capacitor as he felt there was not enough power to the unit. We agreed and had it replaced a couple of days later by a different technician. After replacing the capacitor the technician told us that all is good and we could start using the air conditioner. A couple of weeks ago when the weather was at its hottest, we turned the air conditioner on to find that no cold air was circulating. We immediately called Shiptons and they sent the same technician out to troubleshoot. This time he took all of about 5 minutes to determine that the compressor was dead and we needed a new air conditioner. As most customer do, we got several quotes immediately and had the air conditioner replaced within 2 days. Installed and once turned on the new AC was having the same problem. The first thing the technician did was he went to the hydro panel box in the basement and noticed that the AC was running on 110V and he changed it over to 220V. He fixed the issue in less than 30 seconds. Long story short, the technician told us that we did not need a new AC and was wondering why Shiptons technician didn't troubleshoot. I proceeded to call Shiptons and left a VM to discuss a refund of at least the capacitor with no call back. Called them back last Monday and spoke to ..... after explaining to her the above story, she said that she would have someone call me the next day! It is now June 4/16, still no call or reimbursement!!! This tells me that they know they were wrong and now are trying to cover up!! Really terrible customer service.

    first service call

    I found Jamie F. to be polite & very professional on this service call. He examined the condo's aging unit inside & out, & verbally explained his written findings upon completion of his visit. When he left, I felt I was in very capable hands regarding my heating/cooling system & Shipton's staff. Gwen Graham

    Change from oil to propane, furnace, hot water heater, duct cleaning, etc.

    Scott and the whole crew of Shipton installers were honest, on time did everything they said they would do...every time! There cared for our home when removing and installing all of the equipment. It was a tricky job and took extra time and materials and they did not charge extra. One of the most professional companies I have ever dealt with. I am the CEO of a national finance company and highly recommend Shipton's

    Gas Fire Place

    We had Jared along with his trainee Jamie, come to service a gas fireplace in our recently purchased home. I have never had a gas fireplace before and was concerned that our tenants in the basement would have heating issues, if I ran the fireplace upstairs. Also, the location of my electronics was a concern. The young men were very knowledgeable and gave me lots of valuable information. They took the time to explain how to work the unit for my particular circumstances. Jared did a great job of cleaning the unit and both were very respectful of my house and keeping things clean in the process. Jared made some repairs, and suggested something to enhance the look of the fireplace. It now looks great! In conclusions I cannot say enough about those two young men. They were very professional and personable while being clean, efficient, and knowledgeable.

    Gas Fireplace Service

    Furnace Maintenance

    Jared came to service and check the furnace for the winter. He explained what he was doing and had a good attitude towards his work. I mentioned a couple of issues with the humidifier and the drainpipe from the furnace, knowing that these really were not what he was there for but I thought he may have some advice. He kindly looked at both of these and confirmed that the humidifier seemed to be working fine and suggested some maintenance that I could do, and he went out to his truck to get some hose and repair the drain. He was courteous as well. Thanks!

    Furnace Service

    Service tech came to troubleshoot furnace issue. Nathan was friendly and we talked about the issue and he was very helpful and informative in his explanation. He took the time to discuss and answer other questions I had about the heating and cooling of my home. this was very helpful. Over all a very positive experience. later that day Katy came by to explain the various options of furnaces and air conditioners. she took her time and was very patient with us to help us understand the differences and benefits of each option. Katy was very professional, very informative and knowledgable about her products. It was very comfortable for my wife and I to talk to her. Thanks for a great experience.

    Service Maintenance

    Jim took his time, explained what he was doing and what he did. He gave some tips for in between inspection maintenance. Very happy with the service provided by Shipton's Heating & Cooling!

    Furnace not working

    My furnace was not starting up at all. Decided to place a service call with Shiptons. Was advised that it would be $100 for a diagnostic plus the cost to repair. I agreed. Service guy was here as scheduled. Very nice guy. Brought him to furnace room... He Opened it up.... Pulled out the flame sensor, gave it a "spit shine", plugged her back in, and says "Good as new". I said "you're joking, that's it". I don't think the furnace was opened up for more than 3 min. There was no "diagnostic" assessment. No other area of the furnace was checked for proper functioning. A total of 3 minutes. I was then presented with a bill for $185. To which I replied "you must be kidding?" He wasn't kidding. As such, I was disappointed. Next time I'll be givin 'er a spit shine myself. Feels like I've just been robbed. Merry Christmas Shiptons.

    Emergency Repair done on furnace

    Absolutely terrible experience with this company. I had an emergency repair done on Saturday Oct. 18th 2015 in the afternoon by a tech named Mark. We had no heat and we have a 16 month old baby girl at home. My parents and family were over and were enjoying our day with our baby girl. As it turns out the problem was with a faulty pressure switch but I really remain skeptical because I was told that they rarely go bad, I was watching the tech do his trouble shooting looking for blocked hoses ect. then he slapped a whopper on me and told me that the switch was bad and retails for $340 showing me some app on his smart-phone! I was desperate because I don't want my baby girl to get sick from cold. Suffice-it-to-say I found the exact same switch brand new on ebay for $37.00 and one locally for $52! This is almost a 600% mark-up on the part! By the way he installed a generic pressure switch and had to order the part and said he will come back early in the week to install it. I will pay the $98 diagnostic fee but I will purchase the pressure switch myself and install it. I have many years of experience in electronics but no experience in HVAC but it's a simple repair so I can do it myself.
