    Extended Warrenty on Bosch Dishwasher

Great selection in-store, knowledgable sales staff, but heaven help you if you need service. You will be looking at a huge wait (counted in WEEKS, not days). Just getting someone to answer the phone in the service department will be a 20 minute committment. Then I was put on hold again (I'm another ten minutes in to my second wait as I type this) Here's hoping you have a speaker phone. DO NOT GET THE EXTENDED WARRANTY FROM THIS COMPANY !!!

    Answer from pro:

Hi Stone, There are times when even our customer service representatives who act on Tasco customer's behalf that have to remain on hold for long periods of time to resolve their appliance needs. We apologize that you had to wait on hold for so long and would like to restore your faith in Tasco. We can also be reached by email at customerservice@tasco.net. We value your comments.

    New fridge/freezer purchase

Our fridge broke one weekend and we made an emergency trip to the local Tasco to figure out our options for a new one. The sales rep spent quite awhile with us that evening while we decided which one to choose and we ended up going with the Samsung RB196ACRS and delivery was confirmed for Thursday that week. When the fridge was delivered we discovered damage to the kickplate at the bottom of the freezer and a dent in in the door. We also realised that it did not include an ice maker - something that was not made clear to us by the sales rep, in fact when we bought it he made mention of the fact that the the delivery guys would not do any water line hook ups and that the best he could do was recommend a plumber to us. Needless to say that plumber wasn't necessary! We reported the damage to the door and kickplate to Tasco within an hour of the delivery and they assured us it would be taken care of. Weeks later and we are still being given the runaround by Tasco head office - apparently they have registered the service call with Samsung and are always going to call us back to give us updates yet never do. I do not even have any kind of incident number to follow up with Samsung myself. In addition we purchased the extra warranty from Tasco so we could avoid having any kind of troubles like this. In a nutshell, once you have given them your money and they have delivered you a damaged product their communication and efforts to help you all but disappear. I honestly could not recommend buying from Tasco given the aftercare service we've received so far.

    Answer from pro:

Hi Lucinda, Unfortunately Tasco Distributors does not hold the manufacturer's warranty on your Samsung fridge. Cosmetically speaking doors and cosmetic parts of the appliance can take more longer to order and receive. Our delivery team is only for delivery they are not responsible hooking up waterline for fridges to your existing application. This does either require a tradesperson and our a certified Tasco installer (with an additional charge). We are sorry that you had this experience.

    home applicance purchase

Price was ok, but when I needed help with issues on 3 out 5 appliances, they were no where to be found. I called the rep and even the manager of the store and they completely ignored me. Had to call the head office to get a response. Resulting from this experience, I would like to let everyone know to avoid this Tasco. Your hard earned money is better spent at another store where they value after sales and customer service. This Tasco seem only interested in making the initial sale and not interested in supporting the customer after the purchase. If Homestars would allow a negative rating, I would have given it to them.

    Answer from pro:

Tasco Distributors is very sorry that you had a serivce related issue with your 3 appliances. It shouldn't have happened. We appreciate your comments.

    Appliances for New Home

When I bought a Fridge that was used for display, I was assured that it was working and the only drawbacks are the minor scratches. However when it was delivered to my home, it wasn't working at all. My food got spoiled and now it's been almost a month and I still don't have a fridge that works. They could have at least tested the fridge before delivering it to me since it's not in a package anymore. Thankfully the oven, which was also used for display works. However I haven't tested all of the features. The other appliances are not installed/setup yet because the builder hasn't completed the plumbing, etc. for washer and dryer. I'm waiting for a friend to be available to install my dishwasher and microwave. Always do your homework. Shop around and compare quotes from different stores. The salesperson tried to sell me an old model washer and dryer for the price of a newer model. It's a good thing that my parents checked the quote that was given to me.

    Answer from pro:

Hi Anne, We appreciate your business and your comments. It is sad that you had to go through this, you are correct even though being a showroom display purchase the appliance should functionally work. We don't test the appliance (brand new or showroom) unfortunately. Being an informed consumer one must sometimes visit many appliance stores and or distributors to price match which Tasco will do providing a quote. Do consider Tasco Distributors again for you next appliance purchase.

    Appliances retailers

In May we moved into a condo which we had renovated - new kitchen, bathroom, etc and were in the market for a gas cooktop, electric oven, dishwasher, fridge, microwave and stove fan. When we went to Tasco, there was a KitchenAid sale which gave us 20% off the purchase of 3 K.A appliances, so , having looked at the appliance reviews, and knowing that KitchenAid products were good quality, we were in, though we ended up buying a SubZero fridge. Thanks to Amanda Rose, our Davenport Kitchens designer, the appliance delivery and installation was co-ordinated with the kitchen install. The the Tasco installation contractors picked up the ball. They charged for a pre-install visit to make sure that everything was ready to go and expected us to move the fridge into place (which we weren't able to do). The next day a 2 man team arrived for the install and they were very pleasant, I'm not sure why we needed them for $1400. In addition the wood panel on the front of the fridge got scratched during the process. Our plumber still had to come and hook up the dishwasher and the fridge and the electician still had to come before and after to do his part. Our contractors could have put the appliances in place. Anyway, the appliances are in and they look great. I would recommend Tasco but not sure about the installation contractors.

    Answer from pro:

That's terrific that you had a good shopping experience at Tasco! Depending on the customer's appliacation in their home the installation process can get tricky especially if its a custom or special circumstance there are additional installation charges.

    Bertazzoni gas range

We bought all new appliances (5 in total) from Tasco about 2 years ago. Foolishly we bought an extended warranty on a number of the appliances. And now we've needed to use that warranty. I called Tasco 9 days ago and was told to expect a repair call in 24-48 hours. A full 48 hours later I got a call and was told that the repair person now needed to get authorization to order the part from Tasco (but they'd referred him to me?!). And then silence. Nine days later (yes, I'm patient) I called Tasco and finally got a return phone call from the repair person who will schedule a time next Tuesday to repair the oven. For those who are counting, it is taking me 14 days to get a part replaced in my oven! The only thing "extended" about the warranty is the amount of time one needs to wait to get your appliance repaired. I'll never buy an extended warranty again and doubt I'll ever call Tasco for repairs again.

    Answer from pro:

Having an appliance breakdown so early into owning and using is not acceptable, but unfortunately this can happen, The extended warranty is that if the manufacturer ceases production on parts or they truly become unavailable that we are not held responsible. Functional parts must be available by law between 5-7 years. We are sorry that this occured and encourage that if you do have on going issues under extended warranty to call Tasco's Customer Service Department at 1-866- 848 6767 or locally 416 642 5600.

    Appliances

I bought most of my appliance from tasco. They were very good for the lowest prices on most appliances, however; you must do your homework on the appliances yourself. We were considering buying a wash and dry of a certain make, but after reading the reviews changed our minds. Even though our salesman was good, do not expect him to be knowledgable on all makes.

    Answer from pro:

Thank you for your response. Our sales staff is second to none the best in giving appliance knowledge and advice, but unfortunately cannot forsee a service related issues in the future. Please consider Tasco again for you next appliance purchase.

    Electric range

After hitting all the big box stores in search for a new electric range, I went to Tasco on Dufferin and was pleasantly surprised. They have a large selection and Andy, my salesperson, was able to show my two products that fit my criteria and which I had not seen anywhere else before. Andy was knowledgeable, helpful and professional. After coming home I checked around and saw the same product advertised for a lower price. I asked Andy if he could price match, which he did. Delivery went very smoothly and exactly on time. All in all, very good shopping experience. I will be coming back when I am ready to replace any other appliances.

    Answer from pro:

Hi Henry, We're glad you had a very good shopping experience at Tasco Distributors. When you're ready please visit our store closest to you or check out online www.tascoappliance.ca!

    Service after purchase

We bought all new appliances from Tasco about 2 1/2 years ago. At teh time teh service was ok and i was able to negotiate a reasonable deal. We bought the extended (4 year) warranty on pretty much everything - oven, gas cooktop, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, washer and dryer. We have had issues with our cooktop leaking gas - it was replaced and resinstalled by Tasco within the first six months. About a year later the gas smell had returned. Tasco sent a repair company that wanted to charge us the second he walked in the door, told us we needed extensive work to replace the gas pipes etc. Tasco said they were not responsible and would not pay. After lengthy calls, they were going to get back to me about helping pay for part of it but never did. In the meantime we had a licensed plumber friend come and check it out. He tested everything tightened one spot and said nothing had to be replaced. It has been several months now without any gas smell. Tasco only uses the one company to service gas cooktops - clearly they are not above board and try to charge for work that is not necessary. Long story short - Tasco does everything to get you to buy there, but when it comes to service after you are on your own - even if you have purchased the extended warranties.

    Answer from pro:

We are sorry that you had an issue with you gas cooktop. Proper installation of the appliance and gas lines are intergal to the use of the appliance. Should you require service again under extended warranty please call Tasco's Customer Service and Extended Warranty at 416 642 5600.

replacing an electric cooktop with gas cooktop

Never again would we buy anything from Tasco! Nothing but aggrevation. They'll gladly upsell you in the showroom but not disclose installation costs until after you paid for and picked up the appliance. An additional $452.00 and a week and a half later...... the gas fitter shows up only to inform me that I also need an electrican to complete the installation. WTF? I had no idea.... the old electric cooktop was 220v and the gas range only required 110v. $200.00 later the job was complete. Although both the gas fitter and electrician showed up on time, they both had to leave the job to pick up parts elsewhere to complete the job wasting more time and costing more money. It amazes me how companies like Tasco stay in business. PS love the Wolf gas cooktop, despise Tasco.

    Answer from pro:

Installation of appliances should be seamless and simple, but depending an the customers application in their home dictates otherwise. We encourage at the sales level to review the manufacturer's specification for each appliance decision. Please consider Tasco for your future appliance purchase.
