    Tuckpointing and Restoration

    Otto came to quote when he said he would. He quoted reasonably, albeit towards the higher end of a range we'd come to expect from other quotes. His guys showed up when we expected them to, and did good work. They left a bit of mortar on our windowsill, and a ladder on our back lawn for several days, but we really didn't mind, as Otto was always available when we contacted him, was flexible when our plans changed somewhat due to our neighbours concerns, and listened to our concerns. When a finishing detail disappointed us, he came back within a week and a half, and replaced it with a better quality product, without charging us more. We're happy, and don't feel that awful "we just got screwed" feeling one all-too-often gets at the end of a job. I recommend him.

    Repont srtne steps and brick work

    We had some problems getting someone to even call us back and we saw a positive review for this company in your publication.The estimate was provided and the required work completed in a quick and efficient manner.

    Replace a portion of a mutual concrete drive

    To begin with the work was done about a year ago, towards the end of the home renovation tax credit so every trade was super busy. I needed to have a portion of my concrete mutual drive replaced so I called Otto. It took two calls to get a quote and they quoted on exactly what I asked for. I obtained a quote from another contractor who insisted I be there for the quote. His price was almost double Otto's so despite what other reviewers have said I found Otto's pricing to be good. I had planned to leave a portion of the driveway intact and the other contractor said it would cost as much to work around as to replace so his consultation was helpful I wished I had listened to him or Otto had made the same suggestion. I accepted Otto's bid and was told my work was scheduled for a few months out. Almost a week later I got a call that they could start today and then a call a couple hours later saying no but tomorrow. They didn't show the next day and they didn't call but it was a rainy day. They did show up on the 3rd day and the work was completed in 2 days. The work is solid, it's not overly pretty, it's higher than the old driveway in spots and in a couple of spots they built little concrete ramps between the old concrete and the new. I fear those ramps will crack, but they haven't yet. I would definately use him again but would ensure I was around for the quote to consult more.

    Fireplace Rebuild

    The fireplace in our 80-year-old house was showing its age. The hearth was cracked, a previous homeowner's 'cosmetic improvement' did not look so good, and there was a smell of smoke in an upstairs bedroom. Otto helped assess our needs and worked with us to come up with a design that we liked. A new liner was installed, a new hearth was poured, all fireplace masonry was re-built, and we finished it with granite facing and a hardwood mantle. All of Otto's guys were courteous and professional and we are very happy with the end result. The fireplace is now a fantastic focal point for our living room. Thanks Otto!

    Porch repair

    Otto looked at the porch and provided me with a few options. He clearly knew what he was talking about. The work started earlier than first estimated, although his crew ended up needing a couple days to assess what materials they needed, etc. I got the feeling they weren't fully briefed on the work that needed to be done at first, but we cleared that up pretty quickly. Otto's crew (Jim and his helper) were great. The workmanship was very good, they kept the site clean and minimized any disturbance. They worked quickly and punctually. They were even nice enough to re-parge a small portion of my foundation wall and clean some bricks with acid as a free extra (much appreciated!). The quality of the materials was great. Very nice bricks and column caps. Afterwards, I had a few issues (some of the concrete slab not repaired; steps repaired using a darker mortar). To Otto (and his office/area manager Tony)'s credit, they took care of these very quickly. (The "after" picture is from before these were fixed.) Excellent communication throughout. I'd definitely use Otto's again.

    chimney replacement

    I hope you read this after you return from your vacation so that you may know how pleased I was to have dealt with your company. The two workers (Jim and Joshua) who were assigned to my house were very cooperative, polite and complied with my requests and suggestions on how to proceed with the work which was completed ahead of schedule. After the old chimney was disassembled and the new one built, the removal of debris and the clean up of the work site was first rate. I was very impressed. In fact, both my neighbour's and my property were left cleaner than when they arrived. Also, Tony Curcic kept me apprised of the work schedule so the project could be completed at my earliest convenience. You were right when you said that I would like the end result, and I do. Thanks for the great effort and I wont hesitate to recommend your company to anyone who needs masonry work done. regards Antonio

    Masonry - tuck pointing and window well rebuild

    I called Otto to do some tuckpointing on my 90 year old home, and to dig up and rebuild a below ground window well. They were able to complete the work earlier than expected and did a great job. Efficient, economical, clean - overall I was very impressed with the workmanship and care they put into the job. Thanks David, Otto and Tony - I wouldn't hesitate to use your company again.

    Repair crumbling masonry around basement window.

    We recently had Otto's Masonry come fix an old crumbling window sill. The service person did an excellent job repairing the window, and cleaning up the area. They also re-caulked our walkway, and went well beyond the area that we had discussed. It was one of those little extras, that showed caring and an interest in doing a proper thorough job. Would recommended them.

    tuck pointing and parging

    I contacted Otto's masonry because of their favourable review on Homestars. They were quick to respond, they did a neat clean beautiful job and they accomodated my request for speedy service. Thanks so much

    Repaired our front porch flagstones

    Otto and his crew worked meticulously to fix our flagstone porch that was originally put in by another contractor whose work was not so great. He is a very honest person and charges fairly. I would and have recommended him to many people.
