    Purchased 3+ homes from Shane Homes

    I would like to compliment you for the excellent staff and service that Shane Homes Ltd has on board. Since building our first Shane home in Signal Hill in 2001, you have built several homes for us and we have consistently received service from you that other builders have not compared. In particular, we have not met another professional in the housing / construction business that measures up to Jack Kushner’s expertise and courtesy in relating to customers. Our family members have built many homes with many other builders since 2001, so we’ve had the opportunity to work with a wide range of representatives from other companies. Without a doubt it is always a pleasure to work with Jack again in recently building 2 homes in Valley Ridge; one for myself and another for my cousin. Jack’s service is always personable, courteous, prompt, well-informed, and thoughtful. In short, this man delivers.

    Service

    Plenty of people read reviews and don't write any - myself included. Dealing with this company over the past 9 months has pushed me beyond my limit of tolerance. I would not recommend this group. Some reasons in point form: - Deception from sales persons as to what is included in the original contract and what is not - Fabrications from site personnel about why things are done the way they are - lack of interest (just another numbered house on a street somewhere in the City of Calgary, not acknowledging the fact that these 4 walls will be a considered a HOME to a family, once complete) - unwillingness to co-operate or take responsibility for their actions I am a project manager for a construction company and am well aware of the "pain in the neck" clients, as I have had my fair share. Due to my profession, I approached this build with an open mind and I'm as disappointed as can be - if I treated my projects and clients as I were treated, I would no longer have a job. I cannot begin to explain my story without taking up 1hour of your time. Just believe me when I say "stay away."

    New home construction

    This is our family's 4th Shane home. There is good reason we keep coming back. It starts with the quality of the sales staff - knowing the product and really knowing how to help each specific person to meet their needs and create their dream home. They are knowledgable and make you feel comfortable. The expertise in the design centre is next. They all listen to your likes and dislikes and vibe you want from the house and instantly seem to have the perfect piece picked out for your home. They know the products like the back of their hand and can see visualize the house coming together. They are honest and are there for your best interests. Not just to make you spend money. He build is fast and efficient. The project manager is always up to date and can answer questions you may have. They are always involved on making your house perfect. Shane homes is very accommodating and thorough in the walk throughout and after possession care. They always make sure that any concerns are addressed immediately on the inspections. They also provide you the required resources if there are any issues with your home. 4th house in and going strong. I am sure my next will be a Shane home (though I think I have my dream home now!)

    New Home

    We had an excellent experience while buying a Shane Home. It is because of our Sales Manager, Claude Smith. I haven't seen a more patient and amiable person. He is a no-pressure kind of a person and is very knowledgeable about every little detail of home buying. He responded to our countless queries and accommodated most of our requests. Our interaction with Claude Smith has really made our home buying experience a stress free one. The Project Manager, Duane Fleischacker and his assistant, Jack were also throughout helpful. Jack is a great handyman. He fixed all the small things that were missed during construction. Overall, a very pleasant experience.

    New Home Construction

    Our salesman promised us certain aspects of the home. Energy efficient hot water system. IT is not. It drains tonnes of power, ore than our last house. Our home is 'professionally cleaned' prior to posession. It was not, only a construction clean which means nothing. WE could build a fence the weekend after we move in. It is over 1 month past our possession and still no stucco, land grading, topsoil, trim, paint, gutters and eaves the exterior. We were overcharged for the size of our driveway and have yet to be refunded the difference. We moved in and there was no insulation in the attic. Good thing I inspected. Our changes on change orders 6 -8 months prior to possession were not built. we are now living in a construction zone for over 1 month past possession and they are still not done. The carpet has a pattern in it and at the seams the patterns didn't line up. Where it met the tile at the transition strip you could see the subfloor because there was a 1 inch gap. The tack board that hold the carpet are sticking up and prick our feet on the stairs. Our tile in the shower was crooked. We were told that is how it was installed. We had 2 gas leaks after we moved in. How can this home pas inspection? We paid for our interior walls to be insulated. They said they were done. We moved in and they were not done, none of them. After disputing our ongoing issues with the VP of Quality Control, things are slowly changing and slowly getting fixed. I would stay away from Shane homes. Like the other reviews, promises not followed up on, misleading comments and poor craftsmanship. There is a serious communication issue within this company that needs to be addressed. Shane subcontracts out the majority of their trades so none of the pressure is on them, it is on the trades. Shane makes their money no matter how long the trades take. Pick a home builder that owns their trades. Take tonnes of pics and be on top of them. We did all this and still Shane screwed us.

    Home

    As first time home builders, we were both unsure of what to expect. Fortunately for us, the staff at Shane Homes have been more than accommodating in helping us through this overwhelming, yet very exciting process. Earlier this year, we made the decision to build our first house from ground up. The question then became, who do we build with? There were so many options, so many different communities and so many different opinions on various home builders in Calgary. To make a long story short, we ended up building with Shane Homes, and it was a great decision on our part. The process commenced when we phoned Jack Kushner, Area Manager of Aspen and Valley Ridge. From the moment he picked up the phone, we knew we had made the right decision. Jack was extremely helpful, not to mention very personable. Jack has been a tremendous help since day 1 when we signed the dotted line back in January and continues to be of great support through our entire building process. We are about 7 weeks away from possession of our beautiful home in Castle Keep and couldn’t be any happier with the results and customer service/appreciation that we have received from the entire team at Shane Homes. What we thought was going to be an overwhelming and intimating process, turned out to be a fantastic, and fun experience. We would recommend Shane Homes to anyone in a heartbeat. A big thanks to Kal Macdonald at the design center for making our interior/exterior selections so stress-free and Dan Swick for being an extremely helpful and accommodating Project Manager! This will definitely not be the “only” home we build with Shane. K&L Finnerty

    Home Building

    Being our third time building a new home, we were blown away with the customer service and the way that Shane Homes have accommodated us. We are so happy with our home and can't believe the experience we had. They helped us so much along the way and we ended up with our dream home! Thank you!

    Built a house with Shane homes

    Not a great experience at all. The promises made were very misleading, they nickel and dime u for everything, fail to mention that the water heater that are electric are energy monsters even though they say its energy efficient, poor and not real available site superintendant, trying to get a straight answer and response in regards to an issue is virtually impossible. They are the used car salesmen of homes! Stay away! Use other builders. Shane quality is poor I wish I would have done a bbb search, I would have never bought after reading the problems that Shane homes has!

    Garage

    After I moved into my house they had a contactor come and build my garage in the back. The garage was poorly constructed, it leaks when it rains heavily and when the snow melts. The ceiling seems like it was constructed over a lunch break and the grade leading into the garage is way to steep. Poor design, and even worst construction.

    service call on existing home

    I wanted to thank two very special people with Shane Homes for their OUTSTANDING CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Kessna and Andre are two important people that Shane needs to ensure are recognized for their ABOVE AVERAGE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! We bought our Shane home in 2001. We have had our share of issues over the years, as do most homeowners that had a home built during that time from any builder. Some of our experiences have been less than favourable when dealing with builder issues. However, when faced with the discovery of potential water damage under our tub in our ensuite, I was more than shocked and pleased with how Kessna assisted us in this situation. We were looking for an assessment from Shane as to which trade would be the best to call to repair the potential leak----plumber, window installer, roofer, etc. We could not determine where the water was coming from and we thought that if someone from Shane could take a look at the situation, they could nail down pretty quickly what the real problem was and then we could hire the proper contractor. At first, Kessna stated that our home was no longer serviced by Shane. I explained that I was prepared to pay for a service call if necessary as it would be the most effective approach to resolving the issue. Kessna informed me that they do not accept payment for service calls. Kessna then booked a service call for someone to advise us as to the problem. When Andre showed up on time and very professional AND very polite (we were expecting another grumpy jerk that would just try to avoid doing any work), he got right on the situation, figured out the problem, and then proceeded to call Kessna to book a service call for repair!! Andre returned the following week and completed the repairs very quickly. Needless to say, Kessna and Andre did NOT have to go above and beyond, but they most certainly did! They saved us a ton of money, and in the process, have made us want to refer our friends to Shane once again!! In today's age where companies are looking for a fast buck and a quick turnaround, it was VERY REFRESHING to be treated so importantly by a company that we have spent so much money with, long after the fact that they got our business!! KUDOS TO A GREAT SERVICE TEAM!!!!
