    Bathroom Renovation

Barry and his crews completed a bathroom renovation at our condo in Shaughnessy Estates. The renovation required the complete strip down, upgrade plumbing, upgrade electrical and install new tub, toilet and vanity. New tile flooring was installed as well as tile tub surround. We were very pleased to see the quality of building materials used and the quality of workmanship during the installation. The final result was better than expected. The work was completed while two of our children were in the residence going to university and there were no issue making that work. I would recommend Barry and his crews and would use them again on other upcoming projects.

    Answer from pro:

Thanks Don and Sandi for the positive feedback. I enjoyed working with you on this project and look forward to future opportunities to serve you. Wishing you and your family all the best.

    Main floor repairs

I contacted Barry after a referral from a friend. I had an insanely inflated quote from a restoration company that practically had me in tears. Barry's quote was incredibly reasonable for much more work. I needed a support post installed in my living room after the previous owner had removed it without reinforcing the ceiling. In addition to the post, I ended up getting my entire main floor ceiling re-textured and my kitchen ceiling reinforced (again thanks to the previous owner removing the joists across the back of my kitchen ceiling). Even though the job ended up costing more due to other issues being discovered, the work was completely necessary for the structural integrity of my townhouse. The work was impeccable, the tradesmen amazing and super friendly. I would definitely recommend Artiste Renovations & Contracting and would use them again in a heartbeat.

Bathroom, walk-in closet, bedroom and home office renovation

We had several home renovations done in recent years. Although we were satisfied with the final results, the process to get there was quite painful. I found Barry's company on HomeStars, where his ratings were excellent. We had to wait several months before he could start but it was all worth it. He recommended excellent suppliers. He is an excellent person and it was very easy to negotiate with him... he truly thrives on making his customers happy! We were particularly impressed by the way he took the lead on handling a minor misunderstanding with one of the suppliers. I would certainly recommend Barry's company to my friends and look forward to our future projects with him.

    Kitchen remodel and flooring

We had Barry and his team complete a kitchen remodel for us and replace most of the flooring on our main level. Barry impressed us with his prompt replies and detailed communication from our initial contact until the completion of the project. We are pleased with the results and would not hesitate to recommend Artiste Renovations.

Main floor renovation with Kitchen, Bathroom, Living/Dining room and Office

We engaged Barry and Artiste renovations for a main floor renovation of our circa 1962 Edmonton bungalow. We opened up the main floor living space by removing a bearing wall between the living room and kitchen space, as well as a non-bearing wall between the dining room and basement stairs. We added a window to the back wall for more light. We took most of the main foor down to the studs, re-insulating and re-drywalling. The floor was pulled down to the shiplap, and we started over with new hardwood flooring from touchwood flooring. We gutted the main floor bathroom and re-did it completely, as well as replacing all the main floor trim and doors. We did a completely new kitchen with a new island and plumbing and electrical in the island, as well as new exterior doors. we finished down the basement stairs to the existing family room and installed decorative railing around the basement stairwell. Short answer, we're still incredibly happy with everything. Longer story - we started in about april, We had a july timeframe for when the job would be finished. We lived in our garage, one remaining bedroom in the house, and the basement bathroom during the reno - Barry, Rene, Hans, and James were fantastic the whole time. Always cleaning up at the end of the day, always communicative about progress and any setbacks or challenges. Like any job of this size "things" always happen, and they were always dealt with professionally, and in a timely manner by the crew. We added an "extra" room to the job at the end, and this and a couple delivery delays extended the final completion to August. I can't say enough nice things about the work we had done. I'm very very happy with the result, and can (and do) reccomend Barry and Artiste to anyone who asks.

All the best to you and yours in 2017!

    Great work

We renovated our master bathroom. Barry and his crew were great. Easy to work with, neat, clean and generally well organized. They didn't get ten out of ten because work was delayed and some tiling had to be redone, but if the rating system allowed 9 1/2 stars that would be my rating.

Thanks Andrew for the kind words. I am happy that you are pleased with the finished product.

Full Kitchen, Full Basement, Powder room, living room

We are so happy we choose Artiste Renovations and Contracting to do this extremely large project. We had begun renovations in other areas of our home. We had just finished a master bathroom with a less than stellar experience from another contractor. We wanted to find someone new. When searching General Contractors in Edmonton, Artiste was the first company that came up. We were immediately impressed with the quick communication from Barry. With in a day of sending a request, we had a message back. We set up the initial site visit and within a week, we had a quote. After much discussion, Roan and I signed the contract and were under way. We had several parts to our project so it required Barry to coordinate his team. Scott started the project in the basement. Once his role was complete there, he moved onto the powder room. Hans, Rene and James then were on site to take care of the kitchen and the living room, and the rest of the basement. Considering the size of the project, our time frame was quite reasonable. The delays were beyond Barry's control and were because of errors made by some of the sub-contractors. (We have voiced our concerns regarding those sub contractors. ) At the end of the day, there will never a project that will be perfect from start to finish. There will always be some bumps along the way. These bumps need to be communicated as a critical part of the successful relationship between you and your contractor. We were kept in the loop through out the project and certainly appreciated the direct communication from Barry, Hans, Scott , Rene and James. There was nothing hidden , there were no surprises at the end with the final bill, and everything was kept above board. We knew that we had made a fine choice. We highly recommend Artiste Renovations and Contracting. You will not be sorry when you choose to work with this fine company. Thank you Barry , Hans, Rene, Scott and James for a wonderful experience!!!!!

Bathroom renovation (vanity, toilet, ceiling fan)

I have only amazing things to say about Barry and Scott of Artiste Renovations! After shopping around for contractors to do a simple bathroom renovation (vanity and toilet), I settled upon Artiste for the following reasons: 1. Great reviews on Homestars. 2. Excellent communication - Barry always emailed back extremely promptly (99% by day end) and was always very detailed with his communication. I wanted to get the best value for my renovation and Barry was always willing to provide me with pricing for various options. In contrast, when I was dealing with Independent Bath, they were not willing to discuss any countertops besides quartz and granite even though I was clear that I just wanted to be open to other less-expensive options. I ended up choosing quartz with Artiste in the end, but I appreciated Barry's respectful and open attitude when I wanted to explore cheaper options. 3. Pricing seemed very fair, and the quote provided was very detailed on what I would be receiving (e.g. product numbers and labour details). Scott was the one who did the renovation and I thought his work and professionalism were top-notch. Fabric was always placed down to protect my floors. And when I told him that my toddler was napping, he always walked carefully in front of my son's room, closed the bathroom door when he was working inside, and even brought some work outside to do! Huge brownie points from a parent's perspective! The only hiccup was some delay in getting the vanity right. The vanity was done incorrectly the first time around and resulted in the sinkhole being placed in the wrong place. Fearing that I might have to pay for a complete re-do, I contacted Barry and he completely put me at ease, explaining that Kitchencraft designed the cabinet incorrectly - he showed me his notes that showed he knew what the design was supposed to be. The entire vanity was redone at no additional cost to me and I was even able to tweak a couple details for the new vanity. While this did create a significant delay in the project, this was NOT the fault of Artiste Renovations and they handled Kitchencraft's mistake with complete professionalism. I am incredibly happy with the final result - Scott and Barry, you should be extremely proud of your business and the results you create. I would not hesitate to hire this group again!!

    Answer from pro:

Thank you Jocelyn. I really appreciated your patience and understanding with the vanity issue. Other clients may have not been as gracious as you were and I sincerely thank you for that. I wish you all the best in the future.

Already recommending Artiste to my friends!

Barry, Hans, Rene and Wayne were wonderful to work with - very reliable prompt and thorough. I appreciated their professionalism and the top notch quality of their workmanship - also their willingness to educate a beginner renovator ! I have shown the work Artiste Renovations to several friends and know they will be seeking out this company for their upcoming renovations. Artiste removed a wall inbetween my living room and dining room and expertly maintained and restored the coved ceiling in the living room - the workmanship is outstanding.
