    Lead pipe leak repair

I live in a 1928 house and I had a leak in a lead pipe so old and massive that they said they'd have to tear out my kitchen to replace it. Seeing the horror on my face, the the plumber said, "We've got a guy who's been around a long time and he's seen these pipes. Let me get him on the phone." He conferred with two or three colleagues, got advice on a little-known way to patch those old pipes, and explained the pros and cons to me in a very clear and honest way. I agreed to go forward and he went out and bought the materials he needed, then left the package and the name of his supplier with me, explaining that, this way, I could do minor follow-up repair if needed without having to call in a plumber. The patch has been holding since last summer, I didn't have to rip out my kitchen, and I loved how willing he was to talk with his colleagues to get a good solution... not to mention his willingness to teach me the process and show me what product he was using. I can't help thinking that a lot of plumbers would have gone after the money and told me there was no alternative to ripping out my kitchen cupboards, ceiling and walls. I'm very grateful.

That's great to hear. Thanks for following up. Its true we do have a guy who has been around a long time.

    General Plumbing

I had a negative experience with this company. Although the work was fine & the worker was polite & professional, he arrived late, yet overcharged the time by 25%. On top of that, they added a large surcharge that was not mentioned when the booking was made. I consider adding hidden charges to a bill to be an unethical business practice. I intend to report this company to the BBB & strongly suggest to those looking for a plumbing company give this one a pass.

    Answer from pro:

I'm happy to hear the work was good and our worker was polite and professional. I'm sorry to hear you had issue with the pricing. We are very staight forward with our prices over the phone and would have been happy to explain them to you if you would have asked. Nothing we do here at Butler is unethical and I wish you well in finding another plumbing company.

Fixed Navien Water Heater & Smell Under Sink

Thanks to Kevin at Butler Plumbing, we are no longer experiencing problems with our Navien Water Heater, which was frequently going from hot to cold. Additionally, Kevin was able to solve the problem we had with a sewer gas smell coming from the pipes under the sink in our master bedroom. I will point out that this was a problem that a plumber from another company had been unable to resolve. With both of these issues, Kevin explained exactly what he was doing and why, and demonstrated quality workmanship. We are very pleased with the services we received and will consider Butler Plumbing for future renovation projects.

    hot water tank replaced

This was my first time using Butler Plumbing. An old hot water tank gave out and Butler was the only company to be available and would give a price as well. Dan showed up when they said he would, and within a couple of hours, we had a new, state-of-the-art tank. Dan also changed the (dangerous) ipex leading into the old tank to copper. He cleaned everything up and we were good to go! I will definitely use Dan at Butler again and I think you should too!

    Answer from pro:

Thank you for the review, I'm glad Dan was able to fix you up and happy to hear you will use us again.

    Assess, repair floor drain

Our floor drain was malfunctioning intermittently. The plumber from Butler assessed the situation, eschewed expensive diagnostics and repair work, and cleaned out our drain that had been neglected by the previous home owner. He was professional, punctual, and friendly.

    Answer from pro:

Thanks for the review. I did have to consult my dictionary for the word "eschewed" and found it to mean "Deliberately avoid using; abstain from". Thanks again.
