    Water boiler cleaning and testing

I've used LB twice now to clean the water boiler for my furnace, as well as test for CO. I did a lot of calling around the first time I needed the work down, and LB was the only company who took the time to describe to me what I actually needed. Their pricing is also quite reasonable, and are very flexible with scheduling. I would not hesitate to use LB again.

furnace ductwork and gas water heater

We are very pleased with the service from LB Heating and Air Conditioning that we received on two different jobs. The first job was to reconfigure our ductwork and reposition our furnace and correctly vent it to the outside. Whoever had done it before we owned the house had placed the ductwork in the strangest way and in unsightly places, the furnace was not vented properly as it turns out and there was not enough cold air return either so the furnace was starved for air. Ted came and went through the house and explained everything really well, he agreed that not only was the ductwork unsightly but that it was uneconomical and basically not set up properly. They came and made everything proper and now we dont bump our heads on the ductwork in the basement and the ducts on the main floor are much neater. They also turned our furnace to a different position which really opens up space in our basement. They fixed the exhaust and intake pipes outside so they were correct as the previous installers had them too close to each other so the intake was taking in the exhaust air. It makes such a big difference having knowledgeable people doing these things. It was a difficult job and instead of taking the easy way out like the previous people they went the extra distance and figured out how to make it attractive and correct. It makes a huge difference! The second job was that we wanted our ancient electric water heater replaced with one of those new on demand tankless gas water heaters. We are really pleased with it, once again they came and installed it neatly and correctly even though with an older house like ours there are difficulties sometimes. We are very relieved not to have a giant tank of water in our basement anymore, instead just the box on the wall. I would definitely use LB again and highly recommend them.

Vitodens Combi Boiler with tankless HW

We thought we had already made a decision until we called these guys last minute. Ted showed up within hours of our request and presented a great proposal at a fair price (it cost a little more to make sure everything is done to code and using all copper instead of pex or black piping). The installation was finished to perfection and the unit is working flawlessly. While researching the various systems, it became apparent that you need an experienced technician to install these new high tech mod-con boilers. Otherwise you may be in for a slew of problems that may have more to do with the quality of installation rather than the equipment itself. We called the manufactuer and they recommended LB. Then we checked LB's website and saw various pictures of other Vitodens installations. Ted said that Ivan, his installer, is one of the top three boiler fitters in the city and after seeing his work we think he is definitely one of the best. To think, we almost went with another contractor. The Vitodens provides a constant glow of warmth from the rads, there is no more knocing from trapped air and our programmable thermostat used to have settings as low as 17.5 degrees so that we could save on energy but now we keep it at a constant 21. We have a continuous supply of "non-stinky" hot water so we no longer have to wait for the old, sludge filled hot water tank to reheat after a long bath or shower. We ran two showers at the same time with no issues (we're a family of four). What's more, our heating bills are half the usual amount (some credit is given to the milder winter) and we're glad we're no longer paying to rent an inefficient HW tank. We're turning that old space into a storage area.

A New Fujitsu Ductless Air Conditioner

After downsizing from a 4 bedroom, 1.5 bathroom large house in Etobicoke to a 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom condo in Downtown Toronto during a heatwave, I realized I had been spoiled by central air conditioning. The building I moved into has very good heating, but no air conditioning. I searched online & found out about ductless air conditioners & their installers within Toronto. I found Ted and his business & liked the fact that it was a 38 year old family-run business that would be available to not only install, but do any repairs should the need arise. Ted came to my condo & gave me a competitive quote for a Fujitsu Ductless Air Conditioner. I double-checked if the installation would be allowed with the Property Managers & once they said it was okay, I called LB Heating & A/C to install the Ductless Air Conditioner. The installers, Johnny & Brian, were very organized and neat during the installation & answered all of my questions. Ted visited me later that day to check on the installation & to see if I had anymore questions. I have since shown my ductless air conditioner installation to my neighbours in the building and I would recommend Ted & his company to anyone who wants quality items & service.

    New Furnance

Ted and his team at LB did a great job every step of the way. From getting a quote, to a clean and quick installation, to his follow-up service. As first time homeowners, we didn’t know what to expect and he was really helpful in answering all our questions. He was always honest and to the point. During his quote he provided detailed information about our current HVAC system and offered advice that would be immediately helpful to us. We received 3 other quotes and although not the lowest, Ted’s price was very competitive and in the end we felt most comfortable with his expertise and LB’s 38 years of experience. Our installation was done professionally and again the installers were happy to answer questions and offer advice. They made sure every detail was addressed and spent the time to explain our new system and answer any final questions before leaving. Ted followed up with us the next day to make sure we were happy with the install. And then gave us a call again to follow up a week later to make sure that we were happy with the product and its performance. Our family is very happy with our new furnace and very happy with our entire experience with LB. We would certainly recommend Ted and his team to friends and family.

    Hot water tank, furnace

Upon installation of the furnace, I discovered that the main water valve had been buried. When I called the company, they totally denied they had done this. It took many calls to convince them to come and investigate. Even after it was evident and they made the valve accessible, they sent me a bill for their time to correct their error. On two separate occasions, they discredited the safety assessments by Enbridge Gas and refused to make the changes. When my hot water did not work, they came and did repairs twice and charged me almost the purchase price of the unit, & then wanted to come out again to make mother repair. At no time did they suggest it might be more prudent to buy a new tank. During most of my interactions with this company, the technicians and the president of the company were rude and arrogant. I would definitively not recommend this company.

We were very disheartened to read Ms. Poirier’s review. We strive for excellent customer service through expert advice. Six years ago, when Ms. Poirier bought her house, she decided to convert her furnace and water heater to natural gas. We laid out all the pros and cons about renting versus purchasing out her own water heater. Both appliances were inspected and approved after installation by the local utility. However, sometime after the inspection, Ms. Poirier decided to install her washer/dryer in front of her water heater which prohibited servicing the appliance. In the last 6 years, Ms. Poirier has had no trouble or service problems with her furnace. Unfortunately the same cannot be said for her domestic hot water heater. Late last year, Ms. Poirier had a very expensive repair done to her water heater. At the time, she expressed her disappointment and regret that she had not gone with a rental water heater. During our last conversation, we gave her a couple of options (further repairs or new unit), but we did suggest to Ms. Poirer that should anything else occur to the water heater, she should consider replacing it rather than fixing it. We understand Ms. Poirier’s disappointment and her decision to now replace the water heater. We wish her good luck in the future and we keep our door open should she ever need service on her furnace.

High Efficiency Oil to Gas Onversion

We finally decided to convert from oil to gas and go high efficiency with a Viessmann wall mounted boiler because our oil bills for the last few winters were ridiculous (and so we could eventually finish our basement properly). We had several quotes - and although LB Heating were at the higher end of them, after comparing the breakdown of the quote and what was being installed - their experience and knowledge came through. After researching online - the proper installation of a Vitodens 100 makes all the difference. Well once my oil tank was near 1/8th of a tank I called Ted and they came a few days later to do the job. They came promptly and were happy to answer any questions during the removal/installation. Everything went as planned and the boiler room was swept and cleaned up neatly. The level of comfort in my home now is unbelievable. Huge difference going from a mid-eff oil boiler to a high-eff gas. I highly recommend it - it may seem like a lot of money but I believe it's worth every penny. I recommend LB Heating to anyone that is planning to do any boiler conversion. They really do take pride in their work.

    Repaired furnace

Fantastic service. Honest and trustworthy. Quick and reliable. Try them, you will not be disappointed. Unlike others like Aire One. Very professional right from the first phone call. Both technicians were polite and friendly. They explained the problem and repaired it quickly.

    New Furnace and Humidifier

After getting 4 quotes on a new furnace we decide to go with L B Heating as they came highly recommended by friends. The quote was in the middle of the 4 and the main reason we went with them was the owner Ted. He took the time to explain everything to us and plus we already knew several people that had used his services. The installation went very smooth and they went above and beyond sealing off existing older gaps in the old furnace vent holes when installing a new liner. All the joins in the new furnace where all sealed with metallic tape and the floor swept and vacuumed after the installation was done. We where visited by Ted after the installation to make sure everything was running OK and to see if we had any concerns or questions.

Install new furnace and central air conditioner

LB Heating did a very professional job. Ted walked me through various options and provided comprehensive information. The work was all completed in one day. One small adjustment was needed after installation and LB followed up very promptly.
