Review from HomeOwner Review left on 10 Feb 2014Rating: 2 out of 5I called WaterWorks to request an in-house visit and quote to repair/replace the tap in a corner jacuzzi tub. The cold water tap was no longer working. The person I spoke to on the phone was very helpful and courteous and was upfront about the $59.95 for the inspection and quote which I accepted. I was told by the technician based on his pricing chart that the tap would need to be replaced at $600 (not including new hardware). He explained that the tap below the tub would most likely need to be cut to be able to remove the existing tap (which he was eventually correct and I attribute to his expertise). However, I was shocked at the price to replace this tap. I sourced another contractor to do the work for me which required only an hour from start to finish at a fraction of the price. He was able to easily cut the pipe for the existing tap and replace it with the new one I purchased. I was extremely satisfied with the work. Based on WaterWorks quote that is $600/hour, provided they would take the same time as the contractor I selected. Even if it took them longer I still find this excessive. I can't comment on their work because I didn't end up selecting them but I will comment on their pricing. I understand there are costs other then labour associated with this kind of work however I found their pricing very high and was glad that I sourced another contractor. I would recommend to other potential consumers to shop around and obtain competitive pricing and not rely solely on WaterWorks. And at $60 for an in-house visit and quote I would be reluctant to call them again because based on my first experience of their pricing, I would most likely not choose them and that would be $60 wasted. They may do good work based on other customers reviews and you can get what you pay for at times, however, be aware there other alternatives to get quality service at competitive pricing. UPDATE: Waterworks called after I posted this review and reimbursed me for the $59.95 in-house quote fee since I was dissatisfied with my experience. I appreciate their follow up attention to their customers. Thank you.Review from HomeOwner HomeOwner

Tony came and re set the toilet in the basement. He did a good job of giving us the details of the job and the possible outcomes. It was a little pricy but the job is done, we were contacted by phone and email before Tony came and after he left. We are confident that this is a company that will respond if there are any issues with the work done. Tony was pleasant and knowledgable and we would contact waterworks for future plumbing work.Answer from pro:

Update: Further to this review, Natasha from Water Works contacted me (She had earlier tried to reach me to know about my experience, but I was busy then) and offered to send the Service manager to check it out and also refunded the charges. However, I had to decline the rework offer as I'll have to make arrangements at my work to accommodate another visit from water works. But I do believe that the service manager would have resolved the issue for sure as they have been in the business for long and have top reviews in homestars from happy clients. Personally, I agree very much that they have good customer relationship policy and they were genuinely interested in finding a resolution for the issue which leaves me satisfied with the end result. || The good part: Scheduling was fast, support staff was responsive and the plumber turned up at my door on time. The one star is for this. The bad part: My problem was that I had to use a plunger each time to drain the bowl if there was any thing more than water in it (just water would drain without issues). The plumber from water works checked it out and gave me quote for pulling out the bowl and fixing the issue. I agreed, he pulled out the bowl, removed a kid's toothbrush stuck inside the bowl, put it back, flushed twice and said the issue is fixed. But the moment I put some toilet paper, it wouldn't drain and I had to use the plunger. But, he wouldn't accept that the issue isn't fixed. It took no less than 15 more flushes and two full costco toilet rolls before he accepted that issue is unresolved. Pulled out the bowl again, tested the bowl draining on the bath tub and now it was the calcium deposit inside the bowl duct that was the problem. I thought he would have come with the tools to fix it if it was indeed deposits - an auger perhaps! but to my surprise he said could have tried to use an auger but didn't bring one. I gave the one that I had at home. He used it, put the bowl back and said it's resolved only to be proved wrong again. Now, the issue, according to him, can be resolved with a new toilet and gave me the best quote of additional $850. But I didn't want to flush more money down the toilet and so paid him his initial quote and called it a day. So now I'm at the exact same spot as I was before but lighter by $580. And I have no clue what part of the toilet system is wrong!Review from HomeOwner HomeOwner

We replaced two toilets in our office washrooms. Waterworks was a pleasure to deal with - they scheduled the work quickly, showed up on time (during a snow storm), and did the work with minimal interruption and admirable consideration for our workplace. I highly recommend them.Answer from pro:

I had a problem with my powder room toilet that wasn't urgent, But needed attention. I was at home today with my sick daughter so I thought I would organize for someone to come look at it in a couple weeks. Waterworks Plumbing put me on a list for service today and voila...problem solved. Michael was awesome. He gave me a range of options to fix the problem, provided me with a very clear price and once we talked through what the best option was he got right to work and fixed it! Can't thank Michael and Waterworks for their very professional service.Answer from pro:

It’s very rare to receive the level of customer service Water Works provides from a plumbing company. From the moment we first contacted Water Works for service their CSR Natasha kept in contact with us before, during, and the service. Michael arrived to check our home for a water leak. He was very courteous and polite throughout the whole visit. Our leak ended being a false alarm, just water from an overflowed toilet. However Michael spent time providing us with tips to seal our baseboards to avoid future leaks and other misc. tips. Truly exceptional service. Their contact information will be a permanent magnet on our fridge!Answer from pro:

Review left on 20 Jan 2014Rating: 5 out of 5Basement Water proofing
Our basement has been leaking rain water for a very long time and it was about time to do something about it. I called up WaterWorks in November to see what they could do. Larry came within a week to give us a diagnosis and found that there was a crack at the back of our house which needed to be sealed up. He suggested that we replace our old sump pump with a newer type, install a waterproofing membrane on the side of our house and weeping tiles, which would require digging. Work commenced a week later and when Chris and the crew started digging, they found out that the back of our house didn't have any proper foundation which explains why there was a crack... To be safe, they decided that it would be better to waterproof the basement inside instead of outside. They dug a trench all along the basement wall where rain water was seeping in to install the weeping tiles and put up waterproofing membrane on the wall as well. This way when the water does come in through the walls, it goes into the weeping tiles and to the sump pit to be drained out by the sump pump. This solution was not the most ideal but given the circumstances I guess it was probably the best that could be done. The work took about 7 days to finish. Mike followed up and came by to check out the job once it was done to make sure it was okay. It was also nice of Natasha to call each day to give us a heads up when the crew would be coming and also following up to make sure everything was going smoothly at the end of the day. Fast forward two months later, after a few snow storms and rain, our basement is still dry! There appears to be some water that still came in but it is still 99% less than what would have happened before. At least now we don't have to worry about our basement floor getting wet every time it rains. Thanks WaterWorks!Answer from pro:

Natasha was great on scheduling and getting Micheal to come in to my office ASAP. It proved to be a big job but Micheal worked with me to classify (for pricing purposes) the job so I would pay the lower rate. He was so courteous and kept me apprised throughout the process. He was in and out in no time....really knows what he is doing. My staff are now happy, they have a working toilet....yeaAnswer from pro:

Review left on 19 Jan 2014Rating: 4 out of 5Shower catridge replacement
Service was very good. They worked with me to find out if they had the part in their van prior to making an appointment and they did not. So I sourced the new shower catridge myself. Plumbing came early (Tony). He was friendly ad polite. According to his price book, replacing a cartridge (that we supply) for my shower (which was already apart exposing the cartridge, was over $700. After some discussion, charged faucet replacement fee for kitchen instead ($415 with tax). He was here for 30 minutes (being generous on the timing), I had supplied the part, he removed one part, put the new one in, put handle back on and we were done. Service excellent, pricing very very high for what was delivered. Pricing alone will make me think twice about using them again. Paying a smaller plumber $150 or even $200 an hour would have been 1/2 the price. Update: I was contacted by Waterworks Plumbing to discuss this review and my experience. They commited to reviewing the work order and to get back to me, they suspected their new'ish plumber may have made a mistake. The called back the next day and advised that I should have been charged a lower rate (difference was about $71) and they were processing the order at the lower rate. I am satisfied with this result and appreciate their willingness to find a resolution, they were genuine in their efforts and wanted to make things right. Very positive outcome.Answer from pro:
Hi George, thank you for the fantastic review. Sometimes those one off plumbers don't actually show up and they don't have insurance or warranty their job. We are always here should you need us in the future. Thank you from all of us at the Waterworks Plumbing and Drains Inc.
