    Outlet for laundry room

I need my outlet move closer to my washer, so i call Electric Avenue after hours. Someone else responded me earlier, then i book an appointment with that other electrician. That other electrician didnt show up, no call no text no reply, and the new washer delivery people have already arrived, i just dont know what to do. While i am very frustrated by the situation, Tyler called back, I told him i have to call him back later, the delivery guys are working on it. End up the delivery guys put an extension cord and left. I call Tyler back telling him i think its fix by an extension cord, and if i do move the machine an inch closer, the cord can actually reach the outlet, but its very tight. Tyler advised i should move the machine closer, dont use an extension cord, it will void my warranty. An hour later, Tyler call again, telling me to move the machine another inch closer, he is worried about the prongs will bent when the cords are too tight, which might cause issues. I really appreciate Tyler called again to ensure the safety of my home eventhough i didnt use his service, and all the good advices he provided. Very professional and recommended, if i do need any electrical services, Tyler will be my first option!

Hi Jerry, sometimes a client just needs some advice and this was one of those times. Even though I didn't make any money on this job. I am happy to help you with your electrical solution. I would rather be looked at as a trusted advisor then just another contractor trying to take your money. I am so happy that my advice was able to keep you and your family safe wile not costing you anything. This is good karma and the way business should be done. I hope to use this experience as a building block towards future potential.

    Electric Heating

Update: The issue resurfaced and contacting Tyler was a bit of an issue. I often e-mail people as I work 9-5 but "phone is his preferred method of contact as he receives a lot of e-mails and is very busy" - his words. Again, very knowledgeable guy but not the kind of customer service I expect in this day and age. -- Tyler is very personable and definitely knows his trade. My issue was with the pricing: he did a testing on my electrical panel to look for issues on my heating system and nothing faulty was found - he did solve the problem by flicking the switches off and on, changed a light switch and an outlet. The cost.. $360. Everything is working properly, don't get me wrong, but I later found a company that would do a similar test for free and charge me their hourly fee ($100) for changing of outlet/light switch. I am grateful for Tyler taking the time to explain everything he was doing and give me tips and advice in other electrical areas in my apartment but I can't help the ill feeling at the end of the day, unfortunately.

    Answer from pro:

Thank you for your feed back and for taking the time to write the review. Trouble shooting electrical problems Is one of the most common services that we provide for our valued customers. In your case we investigated and solved four electrical issues as well as an inspection of your electrical panel (and found safety issues). The issues we solved for you are; baseboard heat in the bedroom, baseboard heat in the bathroom, 1/2 Receptical in living room was not working, and flickering lights in living room. We also supplied, installed, and will warranty a switch we supplied for your home. I also took the time to discuss the repairs that would be needed to fix the panel, and your heating concerns for the area you keep your dog. I even gave you some common sense solutions you could use that may not need any electrical work. When it comes to troubleshooting it is not the time it takes that is of value to the customer, but the experience of the electrician to solve the problems as efficiently as possible and to show care and concern for you your family and your home. I feel that you would not be as happy with the other company you called as you were with us. You may want to concider if they are members of the BBB, and or Home Stars contractor of the year and provide up front honest prices as we do. When comparing contractors it is important to compare apples to apples. I appreciate your business and enjoyed helping with your electrical needs. I hope apron thinking about the quality service I provided, you would consider using us again in the future.

    Dream Kitchen, thanks Tyler

Tyler's guidance througout our kitchen reno was much appreciated. He helped us select an excellent LED lighting system. He wired up plugs and switches and lights etc in a timely and thorough manner over several visits during our reno. He gave us advice on other aspects of our reno that saved us time and money. He was the most helpful tradesman. Thanks a bunch Tyler.

    Light switch repair

Outstanding service! Right from the first phone call, Tyler was polite, professional, and clearly explained his procedures. I phoned Tuesday. He was here Thursday. He fixed the problem quickly. He offered suggestions on other lighting issues in the house. And he was trustworthy. He never once tried to "sell" me on unnecessary work. I was seriously impressed. I will be referring him to anyone I know who needs an electrician. Thank you, Tyler!

    Ceiling Fan install

Tyler installed 2 large ceiling fans in our apartment which has very high (13ft) sloped ceilings. He returned my call quickly and was on site next day when he said he would be and did a perfect job, going the extra mile and offering some useful advice on some of my own projects! Highly personable, clearly cares about his work and doesn't cut corners. Quality and responsiveness is reflected in what appears to be a relatively high price. Recommended.

    $945 for less than 4 hours & $20 materials !!!

In preparation for adding a peninsula to our kitchen, we arranged for Tyler with Electric Avenue to split one electrical outlet into three - all within 2 feet of the original. While the work was done to our satisfaction, in retrospect, the amount paid for this service was astonishingly high, compared to what other electricians and tradesmen's have since suggested. We paid $945 for a job that lasted less than four hours and consumed approx $20 of materials. Over $200 an hour for moving 110 V electrical boxes is way outside the industry norm as we now understand it. An email sent to the company has not been acknowledged. We would definitely not recommend this company.

    Answer from pro:

Unfortunately the scope and material value of the work has not been correctly represented in the review. The work done was and charged for was within industry standards or above, and with a very high level of customer service, and transparency . Prior to starting any work we provide the customer with the cost of the proposed work. Only upon the approval of the client do we proceed with the proposed work. The reason we do this is to to be an ethical contractor and protect our valued clients from surprised costs. We do not try to be the "cheapest" contractor around since this would cheat our customers of the ability to use high quality materials and customer service. We try to be the most ethical and upfront contractor around with the most experienced and professional electricians in the industry. Any contractor given limited details of an installation after the fact and when they have no opportunity for getting the job is likely to say what the person wants to hear "that they have overpaid for a job" to gain a chance at future work. We appreciate all of our customers and know that without our valued customers we would not be in business.

    Electric Fireplace

We were upgrading an electric fireplace and couldn't get the wiring working correctly. We called Tyler who was available within a couple hours of our call. He gave us a quote for a consultation which was incredibly reasonable. Once he got here it was clear that the process wasn't as simple as any of us expected but he worked tirelessly to figure out how to use the existing wiring to set the fireplace up how we wanted it. We can't say enough good things about his service and we felt he went above and beyond. I would definitely recommend him again.

    installed lighting fixtures

Electric Avenue is who they say they are - friendly and professional. They were prompt and put on protective booties before entering our home. Tyler listen carefully to what I wanted to get done and offered better solutions that we hadn't thought of. I was provided a written quote with a breakdown in pricing before they started. They cleaned up their mess and put everything back before they left. The job was done to my complete satisfaction - I am very happy! I would highly recommend Electric Avenue, owner Tyler Clarkson - I'm proud to support a small local business.

    Whole house surge protection

You cannot get any better service than Electric Avenue. This man is honest and UTTERLY reliable. I blew a tablet computer because I thought I had it plugged into an uninterruptible power supply. I called Electric Avenue and Tyler not only installed the surge protection, he quelled my worries about the wiring. I cannot recommend him highly enough.
