They did a good job. They did a repair of the chimney. The staff was nice, the quote was the same as the final price and they were timely. They were done when they said they would be done.

Straight Up came promptly when I requested an estimate. They stuck to the budget, came on exactly the day they said they would and finished the job on schedule. Their communication was great, by phone and also email, which was terrific.

Straight Up Masonry gets a 10 out of 10 from us for many of the reasons that the other glowing Homestars reviews have given. Clear, accurate, timely communications (thanks Crystal), detailed, competitively-priced and reliable quote, and Darrell and Jesse, the crew are skilled and friendly professionals. The only glitch was that when the business card was left after the assessment visit, it fell onto the porch floor and I almost missed it and this very positive experience. All in all, a great job folks.

My house is an old house, this is why my chimney has been peeling off for some time. I have forgotten the number of quotes I got from various masonry companies for the last two years. They were all outrageous. Then I found Straight Up Masonry on the homestars web site. It had very good reviews (the best average I saw yet for any company at homestar for reviews more than 30, the rating is 10 for 182 reviews). My experience proved these reviews right. Firstly, what makes their service attractive is their fair pricing. On the top of this they are responsive, diligent, and accommodating (I should thank Crystal for that. She is someone every business owner would want to employ at frontline). Anthony, the owner, is attentive, and strives for the best job done no matter how small the job is. His crew Darrell and Jesse are courteous and experts on what they are doing. I will recommend Straight Up Masonry to anyone who needs masonry job done.

I am a crotchety guy who thinks he can fix pretty much everything around my house better than 90% of the contractors out there. But I refuse to get up on my 14/16 roof. So I called Straight Up Masonry. I thought the quote to replace the chimney cap and do a little spot-pointing was a little high. But I agreed, because I wanted it done right. This company is worth the price. They care deeply about their reputation, and will ensure you are satisfied. The original crew didn't manage to take the digital photos of the work I requested. I paid, but I complained a little. Tony came out, took the pictures, and emailed them to me a day later. I will hire these guys again in a heartbeat.

From start to finish (coming to give an estimate, reasonable cost, communicating over the phone and by e-mail, and of course the job itself) we were pleased with the company and would not hesitate to recommend them to friends.

Tony has great listening and problem-solving skills, his quote was thorough and price competitive, and ultimately he offered a solution that best matched what I was looking for. In my case, this meant trying not to disrupt the "look and feel" of the old chimney as the house has the charm of an older Toronto home. Tony did this by finding a brick that would best match the colour of the house, showing me a sample first, by incorporating some of the existing stone inlay from the old chimney into the new one in a similar random pattern, and by using the existing stone cap which the team improved upon by carving a drip edge into it. The team executed the plan on time and on budget. Because they got the scope of the job right in the first place, no one tried to up-sell me on any aspect of it. The crew was very friendly and professional, allowed me access to the chimney to review the status of the job whenever I felt like it, and cleaned up before they left the site. A remarkably pleasant experience!

This is the second job that Straight Up has done on our house. After having water-proofing work done on our house we hired Tony and his crew to re-parge above-ground on our wall as well as lay new cement along the side of the house. As always, they were a pleasure to deal with. Excellent work, completed in a timely and very neat/clean manner. In addition, I really appreciate the thoughtfulness with which Tony addressed the project and in finding solutions that were best for our house. I highly recommend Tony, Crystal and their team and will definitely turn to them for our next masonry project.
