Door sill installation and surrounding brickwork, replace previous repair

Tony and his team installed a new exterior door sill and replace missing brickwork underneath, bricked in 3 holes (2 of which required removing an earlier DIY patch job), and parged part of the foundation. The work is impeccable, and the service was prompt and reasonably priced. I'd definitely recommend Straight Up Masonry to friends and family.

Tuck pointing and window sill replacement on front of home

I hired Straight Up Masonry to replace the window sills, grind out all of the existing mortar and tuck point the front of my 1870 (?) Victorian row house. The house has quite a lean to it after many years of shiftage so it was tricky job! Straight Up did a wonderful job solving the various challenges of such an off-kilter proposition... leveling the sills and employing various ingenious tricks to draw the eye away from sloping mortar lines of the house. Straight Up was prompt, got the job done on time and cleaned up every day and offered no unexpected surprises. The house looks great and the investment in Straight Up Masonry has undoubtedly added value far beyond the cost of the job. I heartily recommend them!!!

Thanks Andrew, The house looks great I must say, happy to help. Tony.

    Chimney rebuild.

Our chimney needed to be repaired, as it was beginning to crumble. One contractor recommended parching it up from the base to the roofline, and replacing the rest of the chimney from the roofline up. Tony from Straight Up Masonry suggested a total rebuild down to the base, at a reasonable price. Due to conflicting schedules in 2011, we delayed the project to this year. We called up Tony in the spring, and he was able to fit us into his schedules in a short period of time. Dominic and Emlyn came the day before the scheduled date, to set up the scaffolding. Declan and Emlyn arrived early the next morning to begin the work. Two and a half days later, we have the best looking chimney on our street. When the crew left, there was no evidence that they had been working at our house. Tony and his crew are not only professional, but are very courteous and polite. We highly recommend Straight Up Masonry for any masonry work that you need.

    Mortar repair & replacement

Tony was the only mason out of the three I called that responded in a timely manner and with an unwavering quote that was very resonable. He went over the front of my house that had problematic deteriorating mortar and addressed all cracks while keeping me informed through every step of the process. The additional work around the rest of the house, that was done free of charge, was very much appreciated. It's comforting finding a contractor that takes pride in their work. Thank you Tony I look forward to doing business with Straight Up Masonry in the future.

Tuck pointing, Chimney removal, replace bricks

Tony was very prompt to respond to my request for a quote, he came out to our home, pointed out the areas he could see and provided recommendations on what to repair. He offered options for our chimney, which needed work and was honest about what he couldn't see or quote on until the job began. Tony's quote was fair and the job awarded to his crew. He and Dom came to work for the first 4 days, while 2 additional crew members came on the last day to complete the work. For the area that couldn't be seen during the initial inspection, the additional quote was significant compared to the original job, but an important structural requirement. I would recommend Straight Up Masonry to anyone needing work on their home.

Thanks Jeff, What started out as a small project turned into something neither of us had seen coming, but having said that, working with a great client such as yourself we where able to stay on the job and complete it in one go making your home solid as it was the day it was built. Tony.

    Foundation Block Work

Tony brought Declan, Emlyn and Dominic to our rescue to reinforce our crumbling foundation wall. Although the job wasn't scheduled until Monday they showed up Saturday morning to unload and organize all of their materials in preparation for Monday - very impressive! They got to work first thing Monday morning and completed this job by 2:30 or so. I was not only delighted that the job had been so well and effiiciently executed, it also looks absolutely fantastic! Who knew a cinder block wall could look like a piece of art? The site has been left without evidence of them having been here and I feel relief and total confidence that my home is now secure again. They are a polite, respectful and skilled team and, without hesitation, I recommend Straight Up Masonry as a sound choice for your masonry needs! Thank you to all of you!

Replace window sills with stone, fix broken bricks on chimneys

Tony responded with a telephone call promptly although could not come out to do the estimate for about 10 days. About one month later he started our project and completed it weather permitting, in a short time. He informed us what was happening and gave a fair price of the work that needed to be done. Each day the area was cleaned up when they finished. I would highly recommend Tony and his crew.

    Answer from pro:

Thanks Rita for the review, to insure the best price and best quality work I still to this day do all the pricing myself as well as working on jobs like yours 5 days a week along with the rest of my crew. Tony.

    Rebuilding of Two Chimenys

We had two chimenys removed and rebuilt by Straight Up Masonry. We felt that Tony and his team did a thorough job. For the estimate, Tony actually went on the roof to assess what work needed to be completed. The other companies we contacted for estimates only took pictures from the ground. This made us confident that he knew what work really needed to be done. The men who came to do the work were efficient and cleaned up all the mess upon completion. The chimneys look great and match our current brickwork as best as possible. The only problem was some miscommunication. After we had arranged to go ahead with the chimney rebuilds, we had asked for an estimate on some deteriorating bricks at the side of the house. We didn't hear back about this. However, after realizing that there had been a misunderstanding about this, Tony contacted us immediately to clarify and to arrange to give us a quote. It is clear that Tony and his company want to do the best possible job and ensure that his customers are happy. We would be confident in using Straight Up again for any brickwork needs.

    Answer from pro:

Thanks Brian, Glad we got the misunderstanding cleared up and can get back to doing business together. Tony.

    Brick laying and pointing

Project replaced four brick pillars and re-pointed a concrete block wall on perimeter of a wood deck. The two-man work crew were professional, industrious and meticulous in their work and clean up upon completion of the project. We are pleased with the improved appearance of the structure.

Thanks John, The boys came through once again, Tony.
