Review from HomeOwner Review left on 29 Sep 2012Rating: 5 out of 5I got to True North from the internet. I was looking for someone to do a small job at our cottage. After reading the reviews posted on this company, we called them. They showed up when they said they would and would call if they were delayed. They offered suggestions to keep us within budget and listened to our thoughts on the project. We were thrilled with the outcome. At the end of it all, they even left us a bag of sand to fill in the spaces as the stones settled. Thanks Nino and crew.Review from HomeOwner HomeOwner
Review left on 12 Sep 2012Rating: 5 out of 5Front walkway, driveway trim, plus side walkway
I hired Nino and his crew (i.e. True North Interlocking) to make our front walkway, driveway trim, plus side walkway to the backyard, all clean looking and cool. (I'm a bit late in writing this; I wanted to first see how the polymeric sand joints held up over the past several hard rainfalls.) It was a pleasure to work with Nino and his crew; great workmanship and professionalism. I provided an overview of what I wanted them to do, and then pretty much relied on their creativity, experience, and suggestions to make the result look great. Nino took the time to answer all my questions to my satisfaction, and also brought over stone samples to review. As recommended by Nino, I visited the stone factory nearby to see sample layouts with the various stones to help me decide on the combination of stones to use. He also provided references and addresses of previous work done. As the work progressed, my property provided the team with some unexpected challenges. They provided me with the pros & cons of their various suggestions to help me decide on how the work should continue. At the end, they truly had transformed my property to be clean looking and cool. I went with the higher quality stones, and that in combination with the layout is a one-of-a-kind look in my neighbourhood; hehe, impressed a lot of neighbours for sure. Now all I have to do is seal the driveway with a deep-black coating to give the front property a nice finishing touch. Back to the heavy rainfalls: some of the sand joints got washed out, but Nino came soon after my phone call and fixed them; the sand joints are still fine after two successive hard rainfalls. My thanks to Nino and his team for a job well done.Review from HomeOwner HomeOwner
Review left on 28 Aug 2012Rating: 1 out of 5Driveway, Landing, Porch and side of house.
I started my search for a paving company to do my driveway on Homestars. As such I feel compelled to write a review for Nino and his crew. I had called five different companies (all well reviewed) to get quotes and although Nino was not the absolute cheapest, he seemed to be the most professional for the lower price bracket. What really surprised me was the fluctuation between companies, I was quoted anywhere from $25000.00 to $10000.00 for the same job. Nino's original quote was on the lower end (I made many additions to reach our final price). The price was not a factor when it came to the quality of work. Nino's crew are professionals and know what they are doing. Even when the project kept expanding due to my crazy ideas, they not only humoured me but did their upmost to satisfy my vision. I even had the crew help me install paver lights I ordered from California, to which they were happy to comply. I have already hired Nino for other jobs I needed done and booked him for next spring to seal the amazing driveway he did for me. Update: The driveway was sealed by Nino a year later. Spots started showing up on the stone. Nino was called and promised eh would come, which he never did. I continuously called him to come and have a look, sent him pictures. He said he would take care of it, but didn't. It's a real shame, as this could have been resolved very quickly. However the reason I added this to the review is to let people know, that once the job is done, service is terrible and I would not recommend dealing with Nino, unless you don't care about the future of the work. I would also like to add that after two or three weeks when the dust settled and washed off, I noticed that one of the flagstones was not the right color. I called up Nino and his immediate response was to send the flagstone guy over. I was given the option of keeping the discolored stone or replacing it at no charge. Although I can only imagine how hard it is to chisel away at flagstone after the mortar has settled, Nino happily complied and they are doing the work tomorrow. The whole experience was great, workmanship was of the highest level. True North kept to timelines that were set ahead of time and delivered a fantastic product. Thank you very much Nino, Nad and John for an amazing job. Everyday coming home I am still surprised by how good my driveway and in turn my whole house looks.Answer from pro:
Hi Gil, Thank you for your feedback. I agree that your driveway was marked by spots as I personally came to strip and reseal the spots from the stones leading from your garage and across the driveway to the end. For the most part, they lesser stained bricks responded well, but there were a few that were too damaged. The reason for the staining was due to leaked garbage carried out from your housekeeper and this was discussed with you. We often return to clients to resolve issues with workmanship as per our warranty. Despite this not being a warranty job, we did attempt to make it right. The fix would have been to replace the stones damaged by the caustic material dripped on the stone. If you were overlooked during our busy season, we apologize. Perhaps another phone call would have made the difference. Feel free to reach out! Andrea Fiore

Review left on 23 Aug 2012Rating: 5 out of 5Backyard Patio Stones + misc Improvements Around Property
We hired True North Interlocking to give our backyard a refreshing look. Although we, being senior citizens, only had a small budget to work with, Nino was able to provide several options competitively priced. He also brought to our home a variety of stone samples to review, and they were good quality stones to our liking. Nino took the time to answer our many questions, and understand our vision and preferences for the backyard. He never pressured us to make any hasty decisions, and was flexible to accommodate our desired start date. We were comfortable with trusting Nino to handle our backyard patio. Nino and his crew were very easy to get along with and they addressed all our concerns as the work progressed. We were very impressed with the professionalism of Nino and his crew in handling the challenges that arose, particularly along the property border (we are very sorry yet thankful on how they endured those challenges,, hint hint ;-). At the end, they made our backyard patio look very refreshed and nice; we are very pleased for a job well done, and will for sure enjoy the patio for many years. Our thanks to Nino and his team.Review from Catheryne in North York Catheryne in North York
Review left on 8 Jun 2012Rating: 5 out of 5relaying and regrading interlocking stone
I hired True North Interlocking to relay and regrade an existing interlock stone backyard patio. After twenty years, the pavers sunk in some areas forming puddles of water causing drainage against the house. Nino came to address the situation and fully explained the procedure involved to repair the patio. Communication from Nino was excellent prior to commencing the job to meet our time frame. Upon his crew arriving, work commenced in a very organized, clean and efficient manner. Respect for my property was evident. The crew was very polite and pleasant to work with and Ned, the crew leader, addressed all of my concerns as he was relaying my patio. This crew is most certainly experienced at what they do. Upon completion of the installation, the patio looks outstanding and flawless. Attention to detail was impressive. Ned tested water drainage from my patio and without a doubt, it met all requirements. Once again, my property was left immaculate when the crew finished. Nino and crew, thank you for a job well done for I am a most satisfied customer. Your hardwork and honesty is well recognized.Review from HomeOwner HomeOwner

Nino and his crew did an excellent job installing interlocking stones from the front of the house to the back yard. His crew arrived when they said they would arrive, were conscientious and always cleaned up before they left for the day. Great workmanship and professionalism! Nino was very hands on and made sure everything was going as planned each day. His ideas were creative and he was very respectful of our own ideas and preferences. He took any changes or special requests we made in stride and kept us well informed every step of the way. He transformed an ordinary looking yard and entrance into something amazing. We are very pleased with the outcome of his work. The front of the house has drawn compliments from many people. A job well done.Review from HomeOwner HomeOwner

I had Nino and his team come in and put interlocking stone from the road along the driveway, to the porch and all the way into my backyard. My front yard now has such nice curb appeal and I can walk right to the backyard with out having to step on the grass or garden. Nino and his team are very professional, they explained exactley what they would be doing and the timeline. I really like his customer service as I had many questions and each of my concerns were treated with respect. Nino also came back a few weeks later when we realized that one of the stones were cracked and he replaced it. Thank you Nino and team!Review from HomeOwner HomeOwner
Review left on 5 Jan 2012Rating: 5 out of 5Flagstone porches and culvert retaining walls
This past summer I was looking to have two porches covered in flagstone. I called True North Interlocking and met with Nino. He was very thorough and took the time to answer questions, explain the process and was very flexible in offering options. His quote was competitive so we had the company commence work (I had met with half a dozen other contractors, but felt comfortable dealing with Nino). Before signing off, we were provided multiple samples and were never pressured to make impulsive decisions. We were provided references and addresses where we could see projects that they had completed earlier. During the process, Nino and his crew were very accomodating and took the time to ensure that we were happy with the work being completed. Nino didn't hesitate to make changes if we weren't completely satisfied, and I'm extremely pleased with the outcome. The comfort level with his crew resulted in True North Interlocking building four retaining walls around the culverts at our driveway entrances. I checked the samples, and away we went with the project. All in all...two fairly substantial projects...one very happy customer. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend True North Interlocking and am considering other projects this summer where we will be sure to call him back in to do the work.Review from HomeOwner HomeOwner
Review left on 25 Dec 2011Rating: 5 out of 5replace and repair stairs and concrete in the backyard
Have a ravine property with retaining walls that were bulging, stone work that was old and cracked, as well as stairs that led to the bottom of the propert that needed to be repaired and leveled. The project started with the bare necessities as it was late in the season, (November\December). The weather, the cost as well as the workmanship permitted us to finish our wish list for this season. Nino and the crew did everything to make things go smoothly and checked with us to make sure we were pleased at each stage of the work as it progressed. They will be back in the spring for a new project with us and we are happy to continue to work with them.Review from HomeOwner HomeOwner

This past summer I found Nino and True North on this website – got some quotes from him and other contractors and chose him for the project. He is professional and knowledgeable. He’s the guy you can trust. I am very happy with his work - the walkway looks amazing. No surprises and fair price. I already recommended him to some of my friends.
