We chose KH Davis because they specialize in old toronto houses, they focus on structural, and they work with an HVAC designer (so the whole package). Our design had some complexity due to the incorporation of a secondary suite (legal apartment) and our desire to tie into the existing house as simply as possible and keep costs down. Our designer was VEEERRRRY patient with us and continued to provide knowledgeable advice as we worked through multiple revisions to zero in on what we wanted and what we could afford. By working with KH Davis first to get permit ready drawings, we weren't tied to any particular contractor and could get accurate quotes from multiple builders. The design process can be lengthy and requires cooperation and communication from both parties. KH Davis was committed to our project and we are very happy with the result. Thank you!

We had a very tired Duplex apartment that needed updating badly, and we knew exactly what we wanted but after talking to several architects who wanted to put their own stamp on the project and not what we wanted, (we have done this before), with some input from them we found K H Engineering Consultants, who actually listened and understood the concept we had in mind. Without any fuss their engineer Jomar got to work on the design drawings and with understanding of what we wanted very little changes were required. From the outset Jomar was very clear in explaining the process including the submission of the drawings to the City of Toronto for permit, gave us an approximate timeline for the process which, and understandably would be out of his purview. Jomar was always available for questions and queries including jobsite visits, the consummate professional as is the whole organization of K H Davis Engineering Consultants and I have no hesitation in recommending K H Davis Engineering and Jomar the handle your renovation or construction project. We requested KH to take a look at our (very old and crooked) house and provide a structural assessment before we undertake renovations. They were easy to work with, explained clearly what the issues might be, answered a ton of questions we had about the structure and renovation options, and provided a clear and easy report on the state of the house. Following this, we worked with KH Davis to draw up some plans for renovations, including some major structural changes in the basement and main floor. They were really helpful and flexible, helped us to figure out exactly what we wanted and what was possible, and made the whole process very painless. In the end we got the plans approved with no issues and will soon start work on the house. Would definitely work with again!

KH Davis (Jomar) stepped up to the plate on a complicated project when we lost our previous engineer - it was a difficult project with many roadblocks and hurdles - however they worked with us diligently to get the project over the finish line. I would recommend KH Davis, and specifically our engineer Jomar Manzano to anyone - amazing attention to detail and superior customer service!

Would highly recommend! Jomar was very thorough in explaining the structural impacts of the changes we were considering for our house. He helped us with the plan necessary to remove a brick fireplace and enlarge a window. We explored other changes to the house as well, but Jomar was able to project the costs and potential headaches related to such a project. His honesty and guidance helped us to avoid changes that would not have been worth the cost, effort and headache to implement.

We worked with Jomar from KH Davis to secure the permits needed for an addition on the 4th floor of our townhouse. Excellent experience working with K.H. Davis on the underpinning of our century home in uptown Toronto.
