    Waterproofing

Bill and his team did a great job protecting my house from future water leakage. Bill suggested practical solutions to address the issue and didn’t oversell the work required. His team: Mike and Abdul and others, were really good guys and they took the time to explain things along the way, showing me what they were doing. And they cleaned up the site quite well when they were done.

    Main floor and kitchen renovation

Bill and his team came highly recommended from several of our neighbours and they did not disappoint. We hired them to completely gut our main floor, remove some unnecessary interior walls and install a new kitchen. They also identified and fixed our HVAC issues during the process. The quote was very reasonable and they stuck to it, any extra costs were either very minimal and clearly explained, or a result of us adding extra elements to the project. Bill's team kept in regular communication with us during the project, identifying issues and offering solutions. They were also dedicated to our project for the bulk of the work and completed it within the anticipated time frame. I really can't say enough about how great Bill and his team were to work with. Very conscientious about the quality of the work and great attention to detail. Would hire them again in a heartbeat.

    Exterior waterproofing

Bill and his team did a great job doing exterior waterproofing at our house. All my questions were answered thoroughly and Bill did a great job walking me through all the options both before and during the work. Bill, Mike and his crew were great when on site, and were great to my kids (who had a lot of fun watching from the window!). When the job was done, the crew did a great job cleaning up. As a result of his work and approach, I have full confidence in recommending Bill to anyone; he will be the first and only call we make when it is time for the next project.

    Quality Indoor and Outdoor Work

We’ve worked with Fairney & Sons on three different projects (internal / external water proofing, eavestrough, interlocking, basement renovation including a new washroom), and we will work with them again! Bill and his team are transparent, timely, skilled, detail-oriented, professional and fun to work with, and we would recommend them to friends, family, and colleagues without any hesitation.

    Roofing Repair and Chimney Removal

Fairney responded quickly to repair wind damaged shingles. We had replaced our furnace last year with a force ventilated unit so we took the opportunity to remove the badly deteriorated chimney now. Fairney did the work on schedule, cost effectively, and full clean-up, no mess. The area where the chimney had been was covered and blended in completely. Fairney has always been responsive to our needs and stands behind their work.

    Replaced siding

We initially contacted a different company in 2018 to schedule it for 2019. As we got closer and closer we called to confirm and of course, they could no longer do our project. That company referred us to Fairney and Sons. Thank God they did as these guys are fantastic. Like many of the other reviews the best part is they tell it to you straight. They go over best and worst case scenarios upfront. We also like to ask a lot of questions and understand the details of what is happening and they are very patient and performed multiple walk-throughs. In terms of work being done, we had about 5 different kinds of exterior material on our house. Two kinds of aluminum siding, brick, cedar siding, and faux stone. Fairney and Sons removed the aluminum and cedar siding and replaced with James Hardie siding. The removal of the existing siding, installing insulation and replacing with the new siding caused quite a bit of debris each day. The crew kept the work areas really clean throughout the job. Given how competitive the contractor business is the sad reality is there are not a lot of really solid good ones that you can trust. These guys are one of the few good ones and once we save up some more funds we are calling them back for some reno work.

    Eavestrough and downspout installation

Bill and his team did a great job and were very easy to reach at short notice. They replaced all of our eaves and downspouts, helping to resolve some water issues at the side of our house. We would hire Bill again based on this experience.

    front yard walkway/cedar pergola

Mr Fairney and his crew built a new stone walkway, retaining wall and entrance way paving for our front yard. We get many compliments from passers by about how nice the stonework looks, and after two winters, its holding up well, with no shifting or cracking. Super job, we are so pleased. Last year we had a cedar pergola built in the backyard. Looks beautiful and the workmanship is exceptional. A pleasure to deal with this company. Reliable, good communication and the work is top notch. Highly recommended!

    Basement waterproofing and renovation

We worked with Fairney and Sons to undertake both the waterproofing and renovation of our basement. The waterproofing also involved removing and then replacing the entire slab in our basement. The work was on schedule and on budget, and everybody was excellent to deal with. The crew were friendly, meticulously clean, and did an excellent job. We were very impressed with the speed and efficiency with which the project was completed. We were kept up to date through photographs while the work took place, and were consulted every step of the way. For the renovation, we worked directly with Grant and Sonny to completely finish our basement. We can't say enough about how great they were to work with. They were creative, open to input and ideas throughout, friendly and energetic, and above all meticulous both in keeping impacts to us and our kids minimal throughout the job as well as ensuring every detail was taken care of. It was obvious that they took our project, and us being completely happy with the end result, very seriously. There were no surprises in terms of costs, and we were always presented with options throughout the project. I would highly recommend them to others (and have done so) and would work with them again in a heartbeat. As a bonus, our kids loved having them around. Undertaking a renovation can be a very stressful undertaking, but they proved it doesn't have to be.
