José is scrupulously honest, talented at his craft, & hard-working. He gave us excellent advice on which water heater make, model & size to use for our home. Unlike salespeople who came to quote, he took the time to measure the water pressure to make sure that it was sufficient for a tankless. He carefully explained all of the pros & cons of tankless vs traditional water heater with a tank & it was important to him that we understood our choices. In the space of an extremely long day (~14 hours) he worked tirelessly to install a new tankless water heater, & service & repair our furnace. These are tasks that José would normally tackle in a half of that time. However, he had to rectify horrors left by previous cowboy installers both in the natural gas plumbing, the water plumbing (which was leaking), the venting for the furnace (which was completely illegal & unsafe, it turned out), & in the furnace installation itself. At every fresh challenge that Jose uncovered, he exercised his skill to make all pipework safe, tidy, & up to code, with accessible taps & stopcocks, changing the diameter & material of the gas & water pipes when necessary. His work with the electrics was of a similar high standard. After 14 hours of non-stop work, our basement was almost unrecognisable. Jose is very meticulous about his work, and almost fanatical about safety & doing the job to his high standards. His high ratings on HomeStars are 100% deserved. He is the heating/cooling engineer & electrician that you dream of finding. I recommend him very highly. We are also grateful to the long day of work put in by his colleague from Building Ideas, who did excellent work too. Both the water heater & furnace are now working perfectly, & we have peace of mind that both are properly installed & maintained. Many thanks José. I have had Jose come on several occasions to do various work around my house. He stops at nothing to ensure that the job is done properly, efficiently, and most importantly, safely and to code. Jose does a fantastic job at explaining the work he needs to do and even provided me education and knowledge for any questions or concerns I had. Reliable, resourceful, efficient, fair, honest, earnest, friendly, and an expert at his craft. What else needs to be said?

I am thrilled with Jose's workmanship! We just had a new electric plug installed for the water heater and there is no visible wires anywhere leading from the fuse box to the panel. He worked his magic and did an outstanding job in 30 minutes! I will call upon him again whenever I need electrical services for sure and I highly recommend his work!

Our water tank died. Another service person attempted to repair and failed. We found Jose here on homestars. He was fantastic. He responded quickly. He came by and assessed. He really tried to fix it but it was old and done. He was very competent and fair. He removed the old one. Disposed of it. Cleaned up everything spotless. He recommended the new water heater, bought it and installed it. Clean work, nice guy, totally fair. We would highly recommend him

José and his team were great. They performed a number of repairs, modified and installed interior fixtures, and installed new outdoor pot lights. The work was all done cleanly and attractively, at the quoted price. Would definitely recommend José and crew!

I'm so glad I met Jose from Building Ideas. A day before XMAS our furnace broke down. I called three companies from the list of best Homestars- First one was busy no appt, second one was Jose he said he will come in at the end of the day, the third company was available right away so I got him in. He said our furnace is very old and needed to be replaced and it will cost $4500 plus tax. I said yes go ahead as it was XMAS and I was afraid there will be nobody to help us with this dire situation. I called back Building Ideas and explained Jose what was happening. He wasn't upset but calmly explained what was happening and told me what he is going to do. He was very straight forward on the phone . Boy I'm glad I believed him and cancelled the other person. When Jose came he was professional, clean, covered entry way and staircase . His quote was $200 to fix the furnace. I asked him the replacement cost and decided to replace the furnace anyways as it was very old. He came the next day on XMAS eve and worked the whole day - not only installed the brand new furnace but also fixed leaky humidifier replaced valves that was leaking and replaced plastic floppy ent with metal ones. I was always asking Jose questions and he always answered me patiently. I highly recommend Jose for his honesty, cleanliness, straight forwardness and his expertise.

Jose went above and beyong to provide very honest and professional service for a custom lighting fixture. Would highly recommend for any electrical work.

Water Heater got red tagged so we procured Building Ideas to fix the electrical deficiencies. Jose was very knowledgeable in both electrical and gas. Will reach out to Jose again for future works.

We had Jose and Adrian add a dedicated outlet to our basement and garage, remove some old wiring, & add receptacle on ceiling of garage for some new lighting we wanted to install. Jose was very responsive and professional from the start. He came on time, cleaned up after the job was done and was friendly. These guys are HASSLE-FREE and reliable. We will hire Jose again for future jobs since he was such a pleasure to work with.

My furnace was not consistently working for few days, I got a differente contractor for getting it fixed and they weren't able to do it after 4 unsuccessful and paid visits, thus I contact them and in 1.5 hours they were able to provide a diagnosis and fix the issue. They were very clear on the explanation of the issue and the solution.
