Kurt and his team did a fantastic job with our landscaping. We needed to have a large amount of old stamped concrete removed from both the front, side and back of the house as well as repair a large section of retaining wall. We left it all in Kurts hands to recommend and design what to replace it and we couldn't be happier with the results. Kurt and his team were hard working, professional and courteous and completed the job on time and on budget and I would absolutely use them again.

I was very happy with this company. A very friendly team and very good at what they do. They were hired to install a stone patio and it turned out to be absolutely gorgeous and exceeded our expectations. The crew was kind, courteous and efficient. They also cleaned up any mess that was made. Kurt (owner) was easy to work with, very knowledgeable about the product and we would recommend this team for any of your landscape needs. Looking forward to working with them again in the future.

I am very impressed with this company. They were hired to put in new steps, landing, walkway and garden retaining walls. It looks beautiful and was very professionally done. All the members of the team were friendly and efficient. They provided recommendations with both design and colour combinations for the products used. I would definitely recommend them.

Like many, I did as much research as I could before selecting Distinctive. One of my pet peeves is contractors making appointments and not showing up, or showing up late without notice. Kurt was on time the first time and every time thereafter. We chose a design that required some input from Kurt and his team and modified it as we went. It required removing a fence, utilizing the public boulevard etc., etc. One of my absolute requirements was that he and his team not leave the site until my job was finished. Too many times a job will start and then the contractor will leave for days or weeks at a time. Despite some challenges getting started...he stayed true to his word much to my delight. I cannot say enough about the quality of work, the attention to detail, the flexibility with design changes and the way they left the job site every night, and when they were done. Kurt and his team (Sean, Ron, Button) would rival Holmes on Homes team. If you are lucky enough to contract with Kurt...do it. No hesitation.

Kurt and company did a great job putting in our backyard patio. They worked extremely efficiently and quickly and were able to complete our 400 sq ft patio in 2 days! This is the second time we have used Distinctive Design and we love the stone that Kurt picked out, as it matches our front walkway and is smooth enough for patio furniture. Awesome work!

Attention: Anyone who wants an amazing job for a reasonable cost I am a HomeStars believer and prior to leveraging the insights on this website, I was rolling the dice like any unknowing/trusting person out there. I found several good landscaping companies but landed on the GREAT one - Distinctive Designs. If you have read this far and think this is a fake review, feel free to message me or contact Kurt @ Distinctive Designs and I will be happy to talk to you about my experience and show you the work. In fear of people losing interest in my review and not reading on, I am going to get right to the point of why I chose Kurt and how amazing he and his crew are (they need a TV show!) Why: 1. He was ON TIME when we scheduled our meeting and was very specific when walking me through the nuances of the proposed project. 2. He provided me with a detailed cost breakdown of all aspects of the job so I could make an informed decision and get the end result my wife and I were looking for. 3. He was able to show me with a 3D walkthrough WHAT the project would look like. Like everyone, we work hard for our money and want all confidence that our expectations will be met. 4. In a world of one hit wonders, Kurt was able to impress upon me that he was committed to doing a great job that he would stand behind. 5. He was awesome through emails - finally a contractor that is good with technology! What did his team do that impressed me (other than the fantastic job - see pictures) 1. Respectful crew who not only cared about the job, but our home and property as well. They also have a very high sense of pride over their work. 2. No short cuts - They spent the time preparing the yard prior to doing the work (e.g. weeping tile installed to protect pergola walls) 3. Top grade equipment - I don't know but it makes me feel good when I see the people I trust to have all the bobcats, trucks, tools that I would expect a reputable company to have 4. Communication - this should have been #1 but Kurt ALWAYS kept me in the loop and was awesome every time I had a question or wanted to make an adjustment 5. Ownership - Kurt was there for all of the work and every key milestone (e.g. inspection, installation etc) and I absolutely never worried about anything (my profession is to be skeptical so it wasn't easy). He was also great about providing suggestions which was perfect considering he does this as a profession, I'll do this once or twice in my lifetime. Summary of what was done (80x200 backyard): 1. Removal of existing garden beds 2. Removal of 500 basketball and larger sized boulders 3. Prepare yard for new sod/patio/sprinkler system 4. New fence on south side + 2 gates 5. 65 6" cedars planted around yard 6. Hardscaping 7. Covered Pergola 8. Built in BBQ 9. Fire Pit 10. Gas and Electrical work

From the consultation to the project completion, the workmanship and professionalism of Kurt's crew exceeded our expectations. The project was done efficiently in three days, and has transformed our yard into a stunning entertainment space. Distinctive Designs Landscaping is exceptional, and the inviting result is worth every cent.

From start to finish Kurt and the Distinctive Designs team were professionals. The pictures really say it all - Total transformation. Their attention to detail and quality craftsmanship is impressive. When a miscommunication between myself and my wife resulted in the need for some changes, there wasn't even a hint of hesitation - Kurt and the team were right back the next morning to fix our mistake. This is the second time I hired Kurt to make improvements to my home. He recently installed a new deck in my back yard and the results are perfection! The outside of my home has undergone a major transformation thanks to the talent of Kurt and his team! I'm so grateful to have found a landscaping company that is reliable, trustworthy and competent!
