Rock Bottom did an excellent job underpinning our basement and laying a cinder block foundation for a rear addition. They took care of all the in-floor plumbing, weeping tile, sump pit, sewage ejector and waterproofing. Crews were at my house 6 days a week, 8 hours a day for the entire job and Jamie was responsive and helpful the entire way through. They left the site in good condition and made repairs where necessary. I would recommend Rock Bottom without hesitation.Answer from pro:

The best in the business. The crew I had here were great. Joaquim and his team did a precise job of all the underpin sections and the finish of each was done perfectly. I was amazed at their work ethic and they were never shy to lend a hand if needed. Rock Bottom Underpinning was recommended by multiple sources, including HomeStars. These guys are true professionals. Not only were they one of the very few companies that would also do masonry (walkouts), they led the entire project by the book. They were on the site every single day and managed everything on their own, including bins, portapotty, different crews, communicating with other trades, inspector and architect. Rock bottom did a great job with the underpinning - a very hard working team that managed to get my small basement underpinned within about 3 weeks from the start date. The team was go-go-go from beginning to end, you can really tell their goal is to get in and out efficiently. Almost all costs are baked in to the initial quote which I appreciated (minus the sewage ejector and some engineer visits) and the pricing was better than most. Make sure you have funds set aside for any final plumbing/HVAC work after the job, as they only handle plumbing work under the ground. That means you should have someone on call to lower the furnace, hook up the sewage ejector pipe, etc.Answer from pro:

Rock Bottom Underpinning (Rock Bottom) exceeded my expectations with its excellent workmanship, exceptional customer service, professionalism and expertise. I couldn't be happier with how the basement and the walk-out turned out. I decided to hire Rock Bottom not only for its stellar reputation but most importantly, Jamie was easy to speak to. I really appreciated the time he spent to explain this complex construction process in a manner that we could understand. Jamie provided comprehensive project management from start to finish. He not only obtained the permits but also coordinated with the city inspectors and the engineers inspections of the worksite. If you don't have an engineer, Rock Bottom has a reputable engineering firm that they work with. He also kept me updated on the process and provided options which allowed me to make informed decisions as the project progressed. Jamie was responsive to inquires and was amenable to my request to make alternations to the design of the basement walk-out. The entire crew was amazing. They were pleasant, incredibly hard-working and were respectful of my neighbours and their property, which is incredibility important. My neighbours also commented on how the entire crew was really nice and respectful. Quite frankly, the crew and Jamie specifically went above and beyond. This was our first experience underpinning and working on a major reno. Jamie and his crew were fantastic: a realistic quote up front with detailed line items and milestone payments, was easy to figure out a schedule that worked for our contractor, and best of all Jamie's experience helped us uncover additional complexities when we were considering roughing in a laneway suite. He graciously put his crew on standby at our request, mid-way through our project, while we worked out some permit and design kinks. Once we were ready, Rock Bottom came back without delay. Rock Bottom did our underpinning in January. We were highly impressed with their crew, they worked six days a week and were incredibly hard-working. They left the site as neat as possible given they were digging so much dirt out! Rock Bottom has their own truck to come and take away the bins when they are full which kept things moving very quickly. Another company was underpinning a house on our street and their crews were stalled waiting for the bin to be removed for lengthy periods of time. We received several quotes and the cost was comparable among all of them. We chose Rock Bottom based on reputation, and because we liked dealing with Jamie. Both Jamie and Dion were quick to answer questions and very responsive to any concerns. Job was completed on schedule and its hard to remember that we ever had such a short basement!Answer from pro:

Only positive things to say about Jamie and the team at Rock Bottom. When we were looking to lower our basement 4+ feet we reached out to a number of contractors. The guys at Rock Bottom were by far the most professional, knowledgeable and quoted a good price. Other contractors didn't even come to the house and then quoted double and wanted to charge extra for things that were already included in Rock Bottom's quote. They delivered exactly what they said on price and on budget. The team showed up every day on time, were professional, efficient and Jamie was always in communication whenever we had a question or needed his advice. Dion, the owner, came by on the second day as well just to make sure everything was going well and to give us his personal line if we ever needed to talk to him.
