    Painting interior of house

Clayton and Kelly are extremely professional from their initial quote to doing the job and finishing up. They helped to choose the paint colours, were very efficient and exhibit a great attention to detail. They were very tidy and cleaned up everything as they went along. I would highly recommend them. They are coming back in August to paint the exterior of the house in August.

2 story interior condo paint transformation

Excellent service!! Would highly recommend!! Clayton and Kelly did a fabulous job transforming our entire living space in our 2 story condo. Everything from set up to clean up was done in one day! Amazed at the attention to detail throughout the whole process!! Thanks for making our home feel even more welcoming!

Thanks so much Steve! Your decision to add your trim into the project was a great call. The modern grey really pops nicely with fresh white trim. We hope you have a great summer and keep us in mind for future projects. All the Best Clayton & Kelly

    Painting

From the very start, they were incredibly courteous, professional and responsive. We really appreciated the optionality they provided through their initial quote and their ability to meet us both in terms of pricing and scheduling. The workmanship and their attention to detail was outstanding, to a level you don't see very often. The end product exceeded our expectations in every way, excellent work. Derek and Mary-Ann

    Answer from pro:

Interior painting of the main floor

Clayton and Kelly are two individuals who exude professionalism in every aspect. They were reliable, extremely tidy and their work was done perfectly. They worked very efficiently and took the upmost care by covering all your furniture and fixtures. It is very hard to find contractors who make efficiency and tidiness their priority !

    Answer from pro:

Thanks so much Sonia! We appreciate this very much and look forward to working with you in the future on your exterior & interior projects.

    Full interior paint job

This is the second project that we have completed with Clayton and Kelly. We required the entire house interior (rooms, trim, doors) painted in short order to prepare for listing the house for sale. As per usual, we couldn't be happier with the quality, value and professionalism. The fresh paint makes the place look brand new and they were in and out in a matter of days leaving not a trace behind. We are particular to say the least and Clayton and Kelly exceed our expectations every time. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to others.

    Answer from pro:

Thanks so much Jennifer. We were so glad the timing worked out. Best of luck in selling the house!

    Top Notch Professionals

In the midst of a large kitchen and main floor renovation… we selected A Cut Above to paint the all the work under construction and more. Words aren’t enough to convey the quality of workmanship and professionalism. Clayton and Kelly are high end painters that treat the quality of their work as if it was their own home. Too many times contractors and trades don’t’ care about their work… it was refreshing to know that there are skilled people willing to do the job right the first time! From providing a detailed quote (which only took 1 day compared to others taking more than week); to the outline of the job (number of coats of paint, what is going to be painted (from doors to trim to ceilings to closets); to the cleanup each day. Timely, professional, and efficient… they work hard to provide an excellent service. Highly recommend A Cut Above and will call them again for future work.

Thank you guys! It was an enjoyable painting project and like so many, the transformation was fun to see from start to finish. We appreciate you taking the time and writing us a very complimentary review. All the best with the rest of the kitchen renovation.

    Whole home interior painting

We are extremely pleased with the work that Clayton and Kelly carried out on our home. The initial estimate was very clear, fully itemized and included several options priced separately. The work itself was carried out immaculately! Clayton and Kelly were punctual and worked very efficiently and carefully, as if it were their own home they were painting. We are very happy with the results and would highly recommend A Cut Above Painting!

    Unreliable.

We hired A Cut Above for a project in August 2016. The work completed was done well, however it started a day late (due to Clayton chipping his tooth the morning the job was scheduled to begin - we understood this delay). In spite of the unavoidable delay, we hired them (on Sept 28) to complete an additional project at our home, contracted to begin December 6. Unfortunately, we were informed BY EMAIL, a mere 24 hours prior to the start of the project, that our job was being cancelled, and could be rescheduled at our “preferred month” and that they would “do their absolute best to accommodate” our request. What is worse is that we received a confirmation of start date 18 hours prior to the cancellation email! Upon phoning Clayton to figure out why our job was not being pushed back a mere day or two – but would be delayed until at least January. Upon further inquiry I was told “they were not required to discuss their scheduling”, but we ultimately learned the following: - Their current contract was running a day behind (due to other trades) - The large commercial contract that was scheduled to begin after our job, was going to start on time because it “could not be delayed”. - Our job was therefore cancelled, and would be rebooked in our “preferred month”. No alternative timelines were suggested or provided in the cancellation email. We were left feeling like our small $700 project was being sacrificed to keep two bigger projects on schedule, regardless of the vacation time we had needlessly booked to oversee the work. After a lengthy, and at times a heated discussion with Clayton, he called us back and offered to complete our project a few days later on a Saturday. While we appreciated the offer to work through their weekend, we no longer have any confidence that they would actually arrive at the agreed upon date and time. The workmanship of A Cut Above’s is good, however dependability has been an issue for us. We ultimately could not depend on the work beginning at the agreed upon date and time. We have therefore decided to take our cancelled contract, and all subsequent work to a competitor, who has subsequently completed the work beautifully!

    Answer from pro:

Thank You Nathan, We acknowledge your frustration with the delay in your project. It is very important to us that we stay on schedule with our clients. We know that at times our clients are rearranging their schedules for us. Having a delay is frustrating for both you and us. Despite our best efforts, delays can happen. On this occasion we had found out last minute that the current project we were on would be delayed a day due to other trades. We had let you know the moment we found out. We emailed you because it was early morning. We explained in detail what was happening and why. Normally in this case every project following would be equally pushed back allowing us to complete yours a day late. However in this situation the project following yours was the painting of a Non-Profit Women’s Shelter. These women were being displaced from their housing and already had temporary accommodations arranged for them. We were hoping you would be understanding of the logistics of this particular situation. You were not being pushed back because you were a “small $700 project”, all projects are important to us. Our painting company has been built on small jobs. As we stated in our email we would still have been able to complete your project before Christmas. During our only conversation, you had stated that you would be posting a negative review about our company if we did not complete the project on Dec 6th. Despite this comment, we offered to work the coming weekend to complete your job and make up for the setback. This conversation ended with you being satisfied with the alternative date. You then emailed us late that evening and cancelled the project. We are sorry we couldn’t come to an understanding but wish you all the best in your new home. Thank You, Clayton & Kelly

First, kitchen as an audition, second, foyer, living and dining rooms.

Clayton and Kelly were accommodating, courteous, prompt and professional. The initial hire was not based on a lowest cost, but because of Clayton’s concern with A Cut Above meeting our requirements prior to submitting a quote. That initial contract was sufficient to we accepting a second quotation to complete phase two, and we expect to seek their serves once again. We gladly point out to all who visit the expertise and professionalism exhibited by these two. Excellent job guys!

Thanks Ann and Doug! We loved the transformation with the nice white ceilings. Looking forward to our next project with you in February!
