    House Inspection

    Chris Thompson of Haystack did an absolute, thorough and professional house inspection. No stone was left unturned as he meticulously went through the entire home home providing insightful and learned assessments of the structure. Chris delivered on his promise to provide stellar service at a fair price. We would be delighted to work with him again and have no reservations to recommend him to anyone that requires a professional and unbiased inspection.

    Home inspection

    Chris is great and thorough. If you can be with him during the inspection you will learn a lot about your new home. He provided me a detailed report with pictures. I have already recommended him to a number of friends.

    Home Inspection

    We hired Chris three times to do various house inspections on homes we sought to purchase. He is amazingly thorough, detailed-oriented and efficient. He was extremely personable, and he was able to patiently explain his expertise to those who are naive to the world of construction and engineering. We found him to very flexible in regards to timing- we called him several times with very short notice and he made an effort to be available. I have full confidence in his work.

    Great Inspection!

    Condo inspection

    Chris came as a recommendation from a co-worker. They told me that he was super diligent, delivered an excellent report with lots of photos and explained a lot of things during the inspection. He went over and above their expectations and they were sure that he would do a good job for me too. Well, they were right. I found the same things when dealing with Chris too. From the moment that he answered the phone and took down my information, through to the inspection, debrief and follow-up phone call, Chris showed the highest professionalism. He was very efficient with the inspection and I learned so much through out the whole thing. He is personable and a great person. I have him permanently in my phone book as the one to go to for questions about home inspections and I will recommend him to anyone who needs an inspection done.

    Home Inspection

    Chris did our home inspection on a 105 year old house and was extremely thorough, patient and professional. He provides you with an instant summary of the key findings, followed by a detailed report and an opportunity to discuss the report over a call. He made it possible to make an informed decision on our life's biggest purchase and I would strongly recommend him. He can truly find a 'needle in a haystack'! L & Z

    Home inspection

    We happily recommend Chris and Haystack Home Inspections. Chris was thorough, a clear communicator and his report was available within 24 hours. He provided clear explanations of what he found in the property we were considering, both positive and things we should be concerned about. He followed up with us and offered to be available by email and cell phone should we have any questions about the property before making our offer.

    Professional service

    I got to know this company through a friend who also used their services. I received a very professional, comprehensive and yet friendly service from them. Their cost is very fair in comparison to the amount of time and efforts they put and I received a lot of value for my money. I would definitely recommend them to any one who needs a great home inspection service.

    Home inspection

    Chris thoroughly inspected a 1912 heritage home that my husband and I were considering purchasing. We found Chris was very professional, knowledgeable and diligent in his work. Before he began the inspection he listened to our renovation ideas and then spent over 5 hours combing every square inch of the home and considered some of our specific requests (eg. vaulting ceilings, expanding living spaces etc). In the end we did not purchase the home but having the inspection gave us valuable time in the home and allowed us to decide if it was for us or not. Had we gone ahead, the information Chris provided would have positively informed our renovation plans. He had some great ideas because he not only knows old homes he understands how they can be adapted to today's lifestyle. We highly recommend Chris and having a home inspection. Both will give you peace of mind in buying your new home.

Having done design and construction for years sometimes I can offer some insight into what might be possible during a renovation. That said it is speculative because until you start opening up walls it can be difficult to know exactly what's going on. You also bring up another good point that an inspection simply offers clients like you the time to experience a home when it is not filled with other people desperate to get into the Vancouver market. That time can often bring with it calmer reflection of how you can see yourself living in the place. It is surprising how many times I hear clients say that the home is not what they remember. It's darker or they didn't realize there was a cliff in the backyard because it was night when they originally viewed the home. The list of remarks is endless. Sometimes the surprises are good and sometimes bad however it is always because for the inspection they were allowed the time to revisit their experience of the home.
