    Drain repair….have a read

    I contacted Drain King Plumbers for help with a clogged pipe. I explained the issue, and their plumber, Jonathan, charged me $325 for a camera inspection. Following his thorough evaluation, Jonathan shared his expert opinion saying we had a separated pipe, and presented us with a repair estimate of approximately $3,600. To sweeten the deal he then did some creative accounting and deducted the (camera) inspection fee from the quote, calling it a discount, even though it was obviously just rolled into the overall cost. Despite the clever pricing tactics, we decided to move forward based on his explanation of what was causing the issue and the proposed solution, because to me, a separated pipe seems serious and requires immediate attention. The following day, another technician who spoke very little English arrived to begin the work, and in hindsight, I should have asked to verify his plumbing credentials. Upon excavation, it quickly became apparent that the problem was different from what was originally explained, the pipe was not separated, Drain King Plumbers miss diagnosed what was causing the blockage, and this likely could have been resolved with a less invasive approach. Nevertheless, the technician completed the job as outlined in the work order, and I was quoted over $10,000 to address additional related issues that were not mentioned as a cause of the problem in the initial conversation, as I would have expected to be quoted for the full scope upfront, after all, thats why I paid for the inspection. After voicing my concerns to Jonathan, he abruptly ended the call stating a manager would follow up with me and to have a great day. However, despite my repeated follow-up calls to discuss a resolution, I have had very little response from them. This lack of communication from Drain King Plumbers appears to be a common experience, as noted by other reviewers. I also noticed this company has registered complaint against them with the (Canadian) BBB. Ultimately, when a manager finally contacted me after about a month to discuss the matter, it became clear by the end of our conversation.it just came down to the money. Since I only moved forward with the repair because I was told it was a separated pipe, I was left paying for their wrong diagnosis. Drain King Plumbers website claims: We guarantee that you will be satisfied with our plumbing services. Unfortunately, I am not satisfied and I should have read the negative reviews as they provide valuable insight into what you can expect if something goes wrong. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend Drain King Plumbers, and I hope my experience can educate people about this company.

You had called in for service and indicated to us that this blockage was a re-occurring problem and that you wanted to permanently solve it, and not have to continue renting a snake from home depot. We provided you a quote to fix your pipe by means of excavation, and you happily approved it. The exact cause was unknown until excavation was performed. It turned out that there was some major calcification build up in your pipes causing it to frequently backup that snaking obviously did not solve. We are unsure what your issue is here because the work was done perfectly (as you mentioned) and your problem has been solved. With regards to the additional repair recommendations, once we cleared the main issue we returned for a follow up camera inspection and were now able to inspect the rest of the pipe to the city main. This follow up inspection revealed additional issues (unrelated to the current backup) that we recommended to repair. If we had been able to see the issues further down the line prior to the initial excavation rest-assured you would have been notified. We hope you understand that we always have your best interest in mind, and that we did indeed performed this job with honesty, heart, and pride.

    kitchen sink plumbing issues

    It has been extremely challenging to live without an operational kitchen sink for the past several days, due to draining issues. We are glad to have decided to contact Drain King. They quickly dispatched their courteous plumber on the same day. On November 8th, we were blessed to have Benjamin visit our home in Aurora to implement a remarkable solution to fix the draining problem. Benjamin is kind, professional, and exceptionally knowledgeable. He carefully troubleshot, diagnosed, and repaired the issue. He obviously cares about helping people and is passionate about solving plumbing problems. His work is flawlessly organized and clean.     Kitchen sink drains replacement

    Prompt courteous service. Called Thursday night, plumber on site the next day, Installation completed and problem solved. Customer contact seemed to be very well organized. They quote flat rate pricing. Provided a quote before starting the job. Cost seemed reasonable.

    Toilet - Repair or Replace
    Not impressed since the plumber arrived at my door with no tools only to then tell me I would need to buy a new toilet. From the moment he arrived it was a strong push to buy a new toilet without even reviewing or trying to fix the existing toilet. When I insisted that I did not want to buy a new toilet but rather have the existing one fixed, he went to get his tools and made a lame attempt at trying to fix the toilet only to tell me he couldnt and then leaving. Not before charging me a visit fee to essentially do nothing. Wouldnt hire this company again.

    Update!!Do not call drain king unless you want to be ripped off

    Update; after posting this review they called me! They apologized and sent a more experienced plumber. They allowed us to use the money we paid towards the fix. We now have a working toilet! Benjamin was amazing. First post: After explaining our toilet situation and all the trouble shooting we'd already done; ( snaked the drain, adjusted water level and chain), the plumber sent insisted it was a clog that was causing our toilet not to fully flush. He used an auger to try to clear it and poured numerous buckets of water down (they went down with no issue). Stated there was no clog, charged us almost $300 and told us we should get a new toilet and quoted $1400. He could not explain what was different about the new toilet that would fix the issue. He did no other trouble shooting and left the toilet in worse working condition then before. I am fully unsatisfied and when I called to complain I was told a supervisor would call me back and no one has after 1 week and a couple times I tried to follow up. Do not use this company, they don't know what they are doing, will over charge you and provide terrible customer service!

    Sump pump installed with amazing service

    I had a top-of-the-line sump pump, battery and extra water pressure valve installed in half a day by three Professional detail oriented staff members.Initially, The owner came out to review and suggest the best location and equipment for the installation. Victor and Samir, as well as another individual maintained a clean workspace and apprised me as any possible complications. The service was done, exactly as explained by very diligent staff. I have no hesitancy and referring everyone to Drain Kings. I must add that each of the staff members who answered the phones took my calls and booked. The appointments were conscientious, lovely to deal with, and had a smile in their voice. Thank you Ladies and Gentlemen.

    Negligent Customer Service

    My first Home Stars review citing poor service and, Im sorry to add, questionable conduct. It concerns 3 American Standard Trent toilets purchased in 2015. Within 3 years, all had the same problem. When flushed, water filled the basin but then slowly drained out again. On Sept. 13th 2024, I submitted a work request through the Home Stars site. Drain King Plumbers responded; the plumber came that afternoon. He inspected all toilets, gave an estimate(which I agreed to) and left to obtain replacement flappers(the problem part). When he returned and installed the flappers, he mentioned the first toilet had a missing hook(the flapper arm attaches to this) and tried selling me a new toilet. He denied breaking the hook but I contradicted him for the following three reasons: 1. As mentioned, he examined inside all toilet basins initially in my presence and the missing hook, easily visible(see photos), wasnt mentioned. 2. Why did he wait until all were finished before telling me and install a replacement flapper if the hook was missing? He later removed the new flapper. 3. Most important, during the plumbers absence, I used the toilet, flushing it by removing the basin lid and adjusting the existing flapper. Both hooks were present which was before the repairs and after inspection. I complained to the office and a supervisor contacted me later that day. He also insisted the hook was broken before the repairs. We agreed to disagree. The feeble unsupported alibi offended me more than the breakage(accidents happen). The broken hook means more expensive repairs or new toilet. Two toilets were fixed and the excellent customer service reps accounts for what little grade was given. 2025/01/09 I said it in the initial review, I'll repeat it now, the plastic Hook was NOT broken. The logic being advanced in the response is somewhat absurd.

All three of your toilets had issues before we arrived. Two of them required minor repairs, the third one required more extensive repairs or replacement due to the fact that the hook for the flapper on one side was missing. Replacing this part would require disassembling the toilet entirely, which considering the quality of the toilet you had installed was not recommended. This particular toilet was constantly running upon arrival due to the fact that the hook for the flapper was already missing. You mentioned that in the Plumber's absence(before work was started), you had to move the flapper around in order to get a seal to use the toilet. This clearly indicates that the hook was already missing, otherwise there would have been no need to move the flapper around to get it to seat properly.
