    Updated our Home

My wife and I purchased this home that is over 30 years old. It had the original Furnace, a rented Hot Water Tank, and an old A/C unit that was quite loud. We saw a display for Reliance, at our local Mall. We signed up for an assessment. When they were done, we realized that the cost was very reasonable and that the saving would be outstanding. So we had our A/C, Thermostate and Furnace replace with up to date new units that are over all updated and better overall for the house. The real gem in this story is the hot water tank. The agent explained the difference between tankless and our present system. It was a no brainer. By installing the tankless hot water system, we don't waste gas on heating water that we are not using. Old hot water tanks heat the water every few hours, whether you use it or not, so you are wasting your money burning gas. The Tankless hot water system ONLY heats the water when you turn on the hot water tap to fill your tub, sink or dishwasher or what ever you need the hot water for. We have saving in our gas bills that were outstanding. I could not believe how much money we wasted all these years. In my personal opinion, this is a must for every home. Some may ask does it not take more time to heat the water. The answer is yes, but only by seconds (5 at the most) but worth the cost saving in the end. The Tankless hot water systems are big in Europe, now I know why. Thank you Reliance

    Central Air Installation and Repair

Theres a couple of reasons stopping me from giving a rating of 10 stars. First, the the contractor hired by Reliance to install our central air unit did a poor job. They left a mess outside by the compressor as well as downstairs in our basement by the furnace. After putting in the coil they didn't reseal it very well because when turning on the the fan, air was being blown out through the seams on the duct area. They also seemed to be in too much of a rush to take the time to walk my wife on how to program the thermostat, like we were told they would do by the Reliance sales rep. Tommy.( who did a great job in helping us make the right decision on what unit to buy) The unit installed never worked properly ( we had it for three weeks) and I was forced to make a service request via on-line. Though they were prompt and friendly in setting up an appointment there was a communication breakdown between their service call centre and the service techs, as no one showed up for the scheduled appointment. After that mix up I was tempted to have them (Reliance) come and take out their faulty equipment and refund my money. What stopped me was the staff that I dealt with. Tommy and Eddie were fantastic. Once, another service call was arranged, the service tech that came out was Eddie. He conducted himself in a professional manner, he was friendly, helpful and informative. He took the time to explain what he was doing. He took some readings from the unit and informed me the compressor was dead. Too Reliance's credit, they gave us a brand new unit as opposed to just replacing the compressor. Eddie and his helper Derick were the ones who came out to install the new unit 2 days later. I wasn't there but my wife was and she was really pleased with the service that Eddie and Derick provided. If not for those two issues I would have given a 10 Star rating.

    Hot water tank replacement

Kory & Ryan from Canadian Air Systems (through reliance) came to my house after severe flooding. They quickly determined the replacement was needed. They were extremely professional and proficient especially given their young appearance that some would be skeptical of, and were just really happy to do the best possible job, and do it the right way!

    New furnace and a/c

Awesome service, not pushy at all, had time to discuss it with my family first. No hassles, and installed quickly. Had the new furnace and a/c installed the same day.

    Air Conditioner Freon problems

We bought our air conditioning unit 3 years ago, since that time we have had to replace the freon 3 times. Home Reliance came the last two years and search for a leak but was unable to find one. This year the technician (Randy - Thunder Bay, ON) who came was excellent. He did a thorough analysis of our unit and determined there was not a leak. He explained everything he was doing in detail. He actually came back three time within one week. He suggested it best if he comes back for continuity purposes. Randy ended up refilling our freon and also included a sealant that should mitigate any concerns in the future. Just wanted to make not that Randy's customer service was excellent, and the fact that he came back three times within a week to resolve our issue, is fantastic.

    Replacing hot water tank

My hot water tank had to be replaced. Matt, I.D. # 1920 (service person) was very well within the time frame of the promised time for the service. Matt called to confirm prior to his arrival, he was very professional and proficient. Drop sheets were installed on stairway and hallway, the new tank was installed in a very neat and clean matter, and explained how to use the settings. Thanks Matt, job very well done

    Setup Fee and First Bill

I have just moved into my new house which has a rented water heater. I haven't been there two weeks and I have a bill due today for their activation fee. They couldn't wait for a month to actually send me a bill, nope, it's dated the day I moved in. Gee, thanx, you need that extra 40 bucks that badly. SO I figure, I'll go onto their website and make a payment. SURE! you can do that IF you set up a pre-authorized payment for them to debit your account automatically. UM NO!. There's an "add payment account" drop down right on the form, which immediately takes you to set up a pap. Even after setting up a credit card, it's not available for you to select. This will probably be the worlds shortest rental agreement. I'm so glad that I have a pickup so I can remove, drain and transport this myself, and heaven help them if I get an account closing fee... It pays to work for a law firm! As far as i'm concerned.. the two words "STAY AWAY!" say it all.
