Rent A Son

First: the guys who came to my house were super-nice, clean, efficient, and competent. No complaints AT ALL about them. I needed a very heavy item moved from my kitchen to my garage ahead of some work being done in my house. They did it, and I am a satisfied customer.

But: customer service on the front end leaves something to be desired. The guy on the phone tried to do everything he could to persuade me *not* to hire the company. This item sounds really heavy, he said. I've been in the moving business 40 years, he said, and moved some of those and know it'll take more than 2 guys to do it. We're going to charge you the 4-hr minimum, he said. On and on like this! Yes its a very heavy item, yes it was good to have 3 guys do it (though it could have been done with 2), yes it cost a small fortune to move it (esp. considering the guys were here a mere 5 minutes), but it needed to be done and I could not do it myself, and my own sons aren't yet big enough to help their old man. That is why I called a moving company. So what I'm saying is, I wish I'd been spared the lecture and been given more of a sense of "Yes we can—moving heavy stuff so you don’t have to is what we do!" from the front office. That would have made it less annoying to pay so much money.

On the cost front, I have to say, if you're going to call yourself "Rent a Son," I think you should be willing to build in a bit more cost flexibility. I would have paid $300 for this 5-minute job without blinking an eye, but charging me a 4-hr minimum seems to really stretch the "son" idea pretty far. Sometimes you just need your sons for a few minutes and then they can go back to playing their video games or whatever. A guy who's been in the moving business for 40 years should be able to figure out some creative pricing for very limited tasks.

I had Meilik and Barry as movers. They were great! Quick, efficient, and friendly. They also handled my belongings with care. A very easy move because of them. Would recommend.

Adian and Dante were the movers I was very fortunate to have for my move from 1 bsmt apt to another. A lot of extra physical labor went onto this move as they couldnt use dolly's but had to carry everything up (and down) by hand. They took great care to protect my belongings and did whatever needed to get the job done. This included taking apart a dining room table and mattress frame and putting back together at new place. I would definitely use this company again and highly recommend Adrian and Dante

Two picked up furniture and stored it over night, and two different people delivered it , the next day,
They were courteous, very careful. . It was a difficult move as it was a three story townhouse, steep stairs, heavy furniture

Fantastic Service from On'ki, Patrick and Ryan! They went above and beyond my expectations. We will definitely recommend Rent a Son to everyone! They were very careful with our furniture and were a pleasure to deal with!

Made the move from Toronto to Montreal in the cold. Amanda had coordinated everything to a tee beforehand, which gave me peace of mind when the big day came. Oriki and Patrick were absolute stars in organizing and disassembling all my belongings and neatly placing them into the moving truck. Not to mention, they were so polite.

In Montreal, they had to move me onto a busy residential street. They problem solved that, no problem. Personally, it would’ve given me anxiety to do that on my own. They handled it like pros. For a small family moving to a new province, I can express enough gratitude for the whole Rent a Son team. If you’re looking only at dollar amount, go somewhere else. If you’re looking for a professional move and peace of mind, choose this company!

We can't thank the crew that did our move enough - they were so friendly right from the start all the way to the end and were SO efficient. Junior, Jowel, and Kosiso completed my condo move yesterday into a building with outrageously long hallways and did it so much faster than I would have ever been able to do on my own. They took care of all of my things with such care - everything arrived perfectly intact. They knew how to handle every single odd piece of furniture I had, checked in regularly to see where things should go/how I wanted them stored and honestly were just so amazing throughout the whole process. They helped to disassemble all my items that needed to be and packed away my bigger fragile items that I did not even know how to tackle on my own in such an easy, effortless manner. I absolutely hate moving and these guys made it feel so easy. We also ended up having an additional wine fridge dropped off at our building that they moved for us with no hesitation when we asked. Can't recommend this moving company enough.

This was my fourth move with Rent-a -Son, and there's a reason I keep coming back to them — every member of their team that I've encountered has been friendly, professional, and an expert at what they do. This move was no exception. The team was incredibly efficient and kind, attentive to special instructions for delicate items, and highly adaptable and creative when it came to resolving unexpected hiccups that came up.

Amanda has been my Moving Coordinator for every move I've done with Rent-a-Son, and she's always been fantastic to work with. She knows exactly what to ask and how to guide someone who's going through the exciting but stressful process of moving.

The moving crew this time was made up of Junior, Jowel, Eero, and Amog, and I can't thank them enough for everything they did! Their incredibly hard work and expertise made a big move go as efficiently as possible. And their adaptability really saved the day — when we got to the new place, the truck was too large to fit behind the building, but they were able to come up with a creative solution to make it work.
