Whirlpool

Purchased a Whirlpool front load washer 8 years ago for $1200 before tax. According to Whrlpool the life cycle is 10-20 years. Repair now to cost $1100! A new washer is now taller and will not fit under my counter. Bad product with no manufacturer customer service. Will NEVER purchase WHIRLPOOL again.

Cabrio washer

I was sold a washer that doesn't work and neither whirlpool nor home depot want to take any responsibility for it! They are dishonest and do not want to refund my money for the broken washer. It never worked from day one! Whirlpool sent me a "technician" who was just their henchman and he didn't even really look at the machine, wasted my afternoon, and then said there is nothing wrong. It doesn't wash or rinse but he says nothing wrong! Then a real technician came out who identified that only one cycle out of 10 works properly and the entire computer on the machine needs to be replaced and still neither whirlpool nor home depot want to refund my money. They are dragging this out, wasting my time, meanwhile I have to take my stuff to the laundromats and of course they do not reinburse for all the times I"ve missed work for their stupid technicians and for the fact that I still have to go to a laundromat even though I paid for a washer! I wouldn't recommend them to anybody! Don't ever do business with home depot or whirlpool they will suck your blood!

Refrigerator

The compressor on my 18 month old fridge had to be replaced. The repair cost was $844, the fridge new cost $1,000. Whirlpool would not reimburse for the repairs, they wouldn't even respond to phone calls nor emails. Worst service ever and very poor quality appliances. Avoid purchasing whirlpool products because they do not stand behind their products.

Service

In short one of the worst customer service I have ever dealt with .. they have no clue what they are talking about .. My whirlpool front load washer has been broken now for more than 8 weeks! I have contacted them for service and paid their supposedly "certified" technician $118 and still the washer is not repaired. They have even sent me another independent service technician to look at it. The problem seems clear and simple according to the technician , but for some reason they are not able to resolve it; mainly because they are not able to say when the parts will arrive and they keep missing date after date. I also believe that the 1st service company "Platinum" were under qualified and wrongly diagnosed the problem which caused even more delay. I have talked to many supervisors and finally asked one of them to start a prorated exchange for my 3 years old washer since it seems not clear on when the parts will arrive but he mentioned that I will have to wait for 2 more weeks on top of the 8 weeks without a washer to process the exchange. I asked him if he could keep the maintenance call open and see which will happen first, taking in consideration that they are not able to set a fixed date and it has been that long, but he refused and insisted its one or the other. It seems that i will end up buying a new washer not because mine is beyond repair but because their technicians or the parts cant make it here to Vancouver!

What could this company do to improve their services?
repair the machine or replace it immediately with no further delay
Any advice to offer fellow homeowners facing a similar project?
if you dont get the appliance fixed by the 2nd phone call ask to process a prorated exchange right away - my mistake was that I believed them and they kept postponing me

Whirlpool® 6.2 cu. ft. Capacity Electric Range with AquaLift® Self-Clean Technology

I have purchased this oven in May 2013. At this point the only thing I like about it is its look. Whats wrong with it, everything! It takes 17 minutes to boil water. It says it has a fast boil option, this does not work, it takes 25 minutes for the over to heat up. And the self Aqualift self cleaning option is completely false and does not work. You put in 2 cups of water, turn on the self clean option, it warms up the water, and 40 minutes later, your oven is as dirty as it was before. My previous oven that would heat up very high for 4 hours was 100% self cleaning, and it was a cheap oven. This oven is terrible. Also the control buttons are difficult to press, you have to press hard, sometimes you think you will break your finger. The convection part of the oven does not seem to help in any way in cooking or reducint cooking time. I am very disappointed in this appliance and would not buy it again or recommend it to anyone. I will be calling Wirlpool now, and I am sure based on the other reviews here of other peoples experience with their customer service, I will grow grey and have to go on stress leave after its all done. I am sorry I am being so negative ahead of time. But I am just very dissapointed in this product.

whirlpoop duet washer

so we took the plunge and purchased the whirlpool duet washer and dryer and thank god for extended warranty because we really needed it. We have had them over two years I believe and totally annoyed that we didn't just stick with our 15 year old washer that we gave to a friend and is still going strong. We have had the repair guys out 4 or 5 times now for different reasons but everytime they come they say well its working fine for now but we have to order a part so try it when they leave, nope not working fine, and at least 2 weeks pass before the new part comes in so again we are at the Laundromat paying to do our laundry, not to mention the door of the washer opening while its full of water and flooding out bathroom and living room, only to be told to go through house insurance. I am totally disappointed with this washing machine, and regret buying it. Our extending warranty is up in April, and then what? probably be cheaper for me to buy a new washer than put up with this. Not a good purchase, should have stuck with my old top loading reliable washer.

Wfw70he whirlpool washer

We bought this washer and dryer set this past summer (2013) as a way to prepare for our expectant child. About 2 months after we bought it, the door locked shut with wet clothing inside. We followed the troubleshooting guide and instructions that the whirlpool representative gave us on the phone. Nothing worked.

8 days later a tech came to break the lock off the door to get our clothes out. He said he will be back in the next week or so to replace the lock but until then, our washer would be unusable. He also said that when he come back, he will show us how to get the lock off the door should this ever happen again, so our wet clothes would not be trapped. I asked "so this will likely happen again?", He said "yes".

Meanwhile, our clothes were 8 days wet, our brand new washer (which I had been taking care to leave the door open in between loads as per instructed), smelled mouldy and stunk up our whole house. it is now the middle of the third week without our washing machine working. We haven't heard back from whirlpool, and we have a huge pile of musty, dirty clothes waiting to be cleaned. We feel incredibly ripped off as a young couple who has saved for a long time to buy a washer and dryer set.

Do not buy this washer! The reviews look good but this machine had not been on the market long enough to prove that it stands the test of time (Tech's words)...If you must buy it, get the warranty like we did. At least that way, every time it breaks down, you can have someone come and break the lock off for you and replace it several weeks later.

Maytag oven

Earlier this year, the digital control on my old Maytag oven stopped working. We contacted the manufacturer, now Whirlpool, who arranged for a repairman to come over. ”Repairman” is a misnomer. He didn’t actually repair anything. He just peeled off the old digital control, slapped on a new one, and charged me $300+.

Three months later, the new digital control on the oven stopped working. Again! I contacted Whirlpool who sent over the same “repairman” who informed me that, unfortunately, the warranty on that new digital display had expired (these things are apparently only good for two months) and Whirlpool wasn’t willing to help me out. So, I had the “repairman” “repair” my oven again – peeling off the old digital control and slapping on a new one.

Fast forward a couple of months and THE NEW DIGITAL DISPLAY ON MY MAYTAG OVEN HAS STOPPED WORKING! Frustrated beyond belief, I contact Maytag customer service who, after hearing me out, offered me the following solution to my ongoing oven problems: 15% off a new Whirlpool oven! I kid you not! I informed the customer service rep that I wanted someone to come over and address the problem to which she responded “The warranty has expired on your oven” – so they wouldn’t be sending anyone over. EVEN IF I OFFERED TO PAY FOR THE VISIT! She followed up by offering up that rebate because I am apparently part of their F****ed Over Friends and Family Program, over whatever they call it.

I passed on their offer and sent an email outlining my situation to their head office. They ignored me completely, perfectly in keeping with their crappy customer service.

Whirlpool 3000 washer dryer

we paid $1800 for our washer dryer and within 2 years the washer made loud noises and stopped working, they admitted that there was a problem with the wheel bearing of the machines and instead of replacing it, tried to fix it. we had to pay for the labour and the repair person did not provide any further information, now the machine no longer works and we are told we are out of luck! so much for quality and forget service
