Small repairs

I had one mediocre experience with Butler's and now a second poor experience. I won't be bringing anything back there.

My first experience was ordering a replacement lid for a slow cooker. I ordered over the phone and they took my credit card number for a deposit. I was told it would be in in around a week. After two weeks I called and it still wasn't in but I was assured I would be called when it came in. After 9 weeks I finally called again and was told 'oh yes, it's here'. It turns out it had been since about 2 days after I first phoned and they just didn't bother to call me.

However, I thought maybe that was a random occurrence and I brought in my food processor that wasn't starting. I was told they'd have to look at in detail to see if it could be repaired or if I needed a new canister. I was never called to be told what the investigation showed. Three weeks later I call to see what's going on with it and I'm told, 'yes we fixed it and it is $42'. I am surprised they went ahead with that without calling me and secondly not calling me when it was done.
When I went in to pick it up I found they had ordered parts that I had at home. When I asked about that they said they were slightly different. At home I found they were exactly the same. I would have preferred if they found out what the issue was, called to find out if I had the additional parts or not, before just assuming I did not have them and ordering them. I admit I wasn't using those parts properly which resulted in the food processor not working, but the problem was my ineptness using the machine and not the machine itself. Now I have $42 worth of extra parts that I don't need. If they were going to charge me for anything it should have been for finding the problem and showing me how to use it properly.
I will not be bringing anything back there because they are missing very basic customer service elements.

Approximate cost of services:
$42.00

Company Response

Unfortunately we just signed on here with Homestars and I just read your comment. I do not recall this from 2.5 years ago but what I can say is we always call customers when part orders arrive in store. What happened in your case I do not know but we do call customers. As for your repair issue, again I can't recall from 2.5 years ago but it does sound like your unit was repaired successfully.
I hope we can serve you again in the future.
Regards,
Craig
