Knob & tube removal

We finally decided to have the knob & tube removed from our home. After meeting with Alex, sourcing three quotes, and on the recommendation of a neighbour, we chose Mapleleaf. Alex was excellent to work with. He set out a schedule for the project and worked to it. He responded immediately by phone/email, to any questions we had, and always followed up when he said he would. He had a great attention to detail, and offered up smart, safe solutions for our project. Alex and his team were hard workers, respectful of our home, a pleasure to have! We are happy with the whole experience and we highly recommend Mapleleaf. Thank you very much, Alex, Thomas, Sergio, and Adolfo, for the great work you did.

Knob and tube replacement, pot light installation

These guys were fantastic. They replaced my old knob and tube wiring and installed 6 pot lights. As the ESA electrical inspector who inspected their work said, the work of this company is exemplary. Their rates were very reasonable and they went above and beyond the call of duty. Instead of doing things the easy way, they did them the best way, taking great care to do as little damage as possible to my floors, walls and ceiling. They even managed to save an original plaster ceiling medallion in my 110 year-old house. The crew is delightful and fun to be around. I was sorry to see them go. I highly recommend Mapleleaf Electric.

Electrical Panel Replacement

We contacted Mapleleaf Electric Inc for a quote and Alex responded on the same day. He did a walkthrough with us and recommended what work was needed and what was unnecessary. We called other companies, but we liked Alex's quote and service best. One company even told us to schedule the hydro disconnect and ESA inspection ourselves whereas Alex included that as part of the job. On the day of the job, Alex and his crew of two came to replace the electrical panel. They were punctual, professional, and finished within half a day. The crew made sure everything was functioning and even fixed a small issue with a disconnected light before they left. By evening, we received the ESA Certificate of Inspection from Alex. We highly recommend Mapleleaf Electric.

Edit: During the job, one of the breakers could not be tested because our cooktop was not working at the time. When the repairman came to fix the cooktop, we found that it was not getting power to the cooktop. We immediately contacted Alex and he scheduled us in on a weekend. Alex came over first thing on a Saturday and discovered a loose wire unrelated to the job he had done a week earlier. Alex fixed it anyway, made sure our cooktop was working, and did not charge us for his time.

Knob & Tube Removal (wiring)

Alex Nunez and his crew (Sergio, Thomas and Adolfo) were fantastic - right from the first moments of contact. Calls and emails were returned promptly, a fair quote was given, and they showed up on time … the first day and every day after that until the job was done (it took a week). We had the knob and tube wiring replaced on the main floor and upper floor of our Riverdale semi-detached house; because the walls are plaster and lath, I chose Mapleleaf because their method of drilling 2 inch diameter holes in the walls and ceilings for pulling wires was the least invasive.

The crew was very personable and worked very cleanly … altogether a wonderful experience. And a great relief to know that our electrical work was done right. The day after the work was completed, Alex made sure that the ESA inspector came - the certificate of inspection was in my hands by 8:30 pm that evening!

I recommend Mapleleaf Electric very highly!

Full Knob and Tube Replacement of 2.5 + Basement 100yr old home, +200amp service + subpanel +interconnected smoke alarms

Alex and his team were amazing. They showed up on time, worked until the job was done and arranged with the city when requiring a drawing for the external service.

He stuck firm to his quote despite the job being a lot more work than they had originally thought.

Alex went above and beyond and also provided multiple documents required by my insurance to prove we were working on the Knob and Tube upgrade when the city delayed us a bit and my temporary K&T insurance was reaching it's date.

Could not recommend more. Alex is a reasonable and honest person. His crew was the same (Tyler, Ken, Sergio)

Electrical repair

I discovered an electrical issue with a few outlets and a light fixture in the basement. Within 24 hours of sending an email I had a response and appointment booked. Pleasantly surprised when Alex arrived days ahead of the scheduled appointment in order to check on the problem because he was in the neighbourhood. That was really appreciated. Within a few minutes, Alex had diagnosed the problem (faulty breaker), and alleviated my worries that it might have been a more serious problem.
This is the third time that I have hired Mapleleaf and I can still say that Alex is a very skilled professional with a talent for quickly diagnosing and fixing problems. I highly recommend this company for any projects and will continue to call them when my home needs electrical work.

Replace electrical panel and other work

When we moved into our 1930s-era house two years ago, the old electrical panel had been patched so much it looked like something out of Frankenstein's castle. Of particular interest was a one-inch copper cable that had been sawed off, but not capped, at the exit point of one of the panel boxes.

We got three quotes and chose Maple Leaf Electric to replace the electrical service panel, upgrade to 200 amps, run several more circuits, and fix a few other electrical oddities.

Alex's team (who arrived exactly when they said they would) were courteous and articulate, and the job was done very tidily and in the time frame estimated. It turns out that, owing to the odd layout of the house, fishing some of the extra circuits was harder than he'd thought (one of his guys told me that) but, although I offered him a chance to re-quote, he stuck to his original price.

I have recommended Maple Leaf Electric to several friends and will cheerfully do so again.

Electrical Repair

Once again, Alex came to the rescue when a 'home repair" faced challenges. I emailed him to say I needed some help, described the issue, and luckily for me, he was passing nearby and popped in, fixed the problem and it was all cleared up with very short notice. It is so nice to be able to deal with him - we have used his services several times over the past few years for small and large jobs and every time we have been well looked after. Would recommend his services highly.

Knob & Tube Wiring

After living in my home for the last 20 years, I decided the time had come to remove the knob and tube wiring.

From the website “HOMESTARS”, I selected 3 contractors to provide the estimates. The first company was punctual and after the assessment of my 1200 square feet home, the estimate came in at a whopping $19,000 plus HST. The 2nd estimate at $7,500, home unseen. I contacted the 3rd contractor, MAPLELEAF ELECTRIC INC. Alex, Master Electrician, arrived at my home and did a thorough check . (With no access to the attic, Alex advised a hole had to be cut out from the ceiling of a closet). Alex’s estimate came in less than half the cost of the 1st estimate. (HST included).

I had a good, positive feeling about this company from the get go, and felt confident Alex would be the contractor to get the job done. Several days later, Alex, and his crew of 4 diligent, hardworking young men began the work. It quickly became clear that the crew were experts in their field of work., with excellent communication skills. I really liked how they interacted with each other, their sense of humor always at play, and always courteous and polite. Yes, it was a messy job, but the gentlemen were super great in sweeping up dust and clearing away pieces of debris, restoring the home to cleanliness and the wiring to perfection. I received my Certificate of Inspection from Electrical Safety Authority and what a great feeling it was! ?

Needless to say, I would recommend Alex’s Company in a heartbeat, they by far, exceeded my expectations!

Regards, Clare
