Boiler Repair

One evening after the Christmas holidays, I experienced a weird ticking sound from my gas boiler. Upon closer inspection, I noticed that two of the burner tubes were cracked and the metal base plate was glowing red hot. Not willing to take any chances I decided to shut off the boiler and go without heat that night.
The next morning I called Dwayne Culzac. Unlike other companies, I spoke directly with Dwayne. He was willing to make time to come by that day. He quickly diagnosed the problem; the last maintainer had installed a burner tube upside down. Dwayne went out of his way to track down 3 replacement tubes and was able to get our heat back on by the late afternoon.
Dwayne was a pleasure to do business with; he's takes the time to explain what he's doing every step along the way. I would highly recommend Dwayne to anyone needing a quality HVAC technician.

Furnace diagnosis & thermostat replacement

Dwayne was fantastic. I called him about our furnace acting up and he took 10 minutes trying to help me over the phone.

Once he determined he really needed to come to my house, he showed up on time and was very nice. His speed and knowledge about our furnace setup was impressive. In 10 minutes, he diagnosed the problem as being our thermostat and was about replace that as well.

His quote was lower than others and my guess it was because he gets stuff done so quickly and efficiently.

[Update]: Had Dwayne back to look at the furnace again. The previous owner left a coil for an AC unti in the furnace when they took out the AC. Dwayne was in an out in 40 minutes and we went from almost no hear and airflow to super warm air and a strong air flow. Couldn't ask for a better furnace tech.

Boiler cleaning and repair

After being red tagged on the coldest Friday night of the winter, we feared we were in for a new boiler and major investment - with no time to carefully evaluate our options. Dwayne responded promptly and professionally to our forum post for help. He came to assess our situation within hours (on a Saturday) and established our trust immediately by explaining that he could try cleaning and repairing our boiler first - and if that was not successful, he'd apply our investment in our labour against the installation of a new boiler. We had nothing to lose.
Today Dwayne came and did a thorough clean and repair on the boiler.
Again, he was prompt, worked hard and did a great job. We're up and working again for a fraction of the cost of replacement. When it comes time to replace, we know who to call.
I would highly recommend Dwayne. We feel really fortunate that he responded to us!

Boiler repair

Waking up at 4:15 am to find the boiler that heats my radiators not working, I searched for someone who would be able to come quickly to fix the problem (as I have two small children). Dwayne called me back promptly and was able to diagnose the problem over the phone. Within two hours he was at my house and fixed the problem quickly at the price he quoted me. He was extremely polite and professional, and I would highly recommend him to anyone.

Furnace Repair

Dwayne came out at 11:00 at night when my furnace stopped working and did not hike his rates for the late night call. He got the furnace running for the night then came back to replace a switch and the furnace motor. Dwayne took the time to explain what he was doing and how to avoid future problems.

I had him back to perform some maintence work - he was quick, took care to cover the floors to keep them clean and his fees were again very reasonable. I highly recommend Dwayne.

Furnace service

My call for a furnace service on a weekend was returned on the weekend and a service call was set. Dwayne was on time, was thorough in his work, answered my questions satisfactorily and is a very nice young man. I am a senior and have had plenty of experience with service calls. I highly recommend him.

replace leaking water heater

Dwayne was quick to respond, thoughtful and cost-competitive.

On the job, Dwayne had trouble due to shoddy work by prior contractors, but he stuck to his quote despite the extra time it cost him.

After the work was finished, we found that our hot water pressure was low. Dwayne came back three days later, tracked the problem down to surplus solder in a joint he installed and corrected the problem.

Oil to Gas Boiler Furnace conversion

Converted an old oil furnace to a new gas boiler furnace in Nov 2010. Went with Dwayne after reading the reviews on here. The reviews are accurate. He did a professional job, explaining what the job entailed and installed only what was necessary for a good price. On the day of installation, he arrived early and did all the work taking the necessary time to install everyting properly including chimney liner and flexible gas piping to work around tight spaces. He even installed a new free thermometer for us that wasn't on the original quote to ensure compatibility with the new gas furnace. Even th gas technician from Enbridge that came to inspect the installation, commented on it being neatly done and up to code. All in all, a very professional job and reassuring experience.

Cooling system and furnace corossion resolved

I called Dwayne based on the many positive comments from other customers on Homestars. He worked around my time of availability and showed up this morning. Just bought a resale home but the AC was not cooling properly on the second floor, the home inspector also recommended the review of the furnace due to some corrosion.

Dwayne did not recommend buying anything, he reviewed the entire HVAC system and got them functional and also resolved the possible cause of the corrosion. The part I enjoyed most was the class on HVAC 101; he advised that I can still get some mileage from the furnace, AC and even the hot water tank. I witnessed all the readings he took and he never complained that I was breathing down his neck!
Professional and honest service are rare, so I wont hesitate to use Dwayne or recommend him to anybody.
