Kitchen Renovation

I hired this company to install a dishwasher and oven. I explained ahead of time exactly what the job was and what the service person would need. They showered up without any equipment then spent over 3 hours finding what they needed in their truck and then driving to get an electric box - all of which I was charged for. The worker couldn’t get the dishwasher in straight and after three tries and chipping my new cupboards I told him to stop, I’d fix it myself. After he left I plugged in the dishwasher and got an electric shock. I asked a new electrician to take a look and he said the guy at Pacific West i stalled the wrong type of electric box and left the wires hanging without even a cover plate. The new person had to redo the job. When I complained to the
company they said the guy was having a bad day but proceeded to charge me a ridiculous amount for a terribly negligent job.

A/C Repair

Called Monday morning, and Gerry the technician came later that morning. He diagnosed the problem, had the parts in his truck, and explained what was wrong, and made a recommendation for another part replacement (and showed us the failing part), which he also had in stock in truck. Then tested the whole system.

He was polite, neat and efficient. It does not get better than that.

Garbarator installment

What a great group!! The example of professionals working there is wonderful! I had great experience with working from the receptionist to the person organizing the work to the worker who installed the garborator. I looked around and the cost could not be met. When the person came to install, he was very respectful, wore covered shoes, mask etc, he was very quiet and in-obtrusive. I was called to remind me of the work being done and contacted after to make sure that everything went ok. I would highly recommend this company.

Forced Air Furnace - annual filter replacement & clean

Asked by my Property Manager to clean & replace the filter in the working forced-air furnace at my rental property, Pacific West's 1st tech, without pre-authorization, charged $784.85 for replacing: the fan motor, the pulley, the fan belt, besides the filter. By the end of that same winter season, a loud squealing noise was reported to PW. PW's 2nd tech charged $181.13 for 1.5h "labour", concluding: both the motor and the blower required replacement, but recommended replacing the entire furnace (due to its age) - quoting $6,880 + taxes + unquantified other charges for related work: venting, duct, dry wall, ceiling, asbestos abatement, …
Problems with their charges: PW's 1st tech was NOT authorized to replace anything but the filter. The motor that he replaced is the same motor PW's 2nd tech, several months later, said was the source of the squealing noise, and needed replacement along with the blower - though he recommended replacing the entire furnace! My Property Manager had "automatically" paid both PW Invoices, totalling $965.98. My appeal to PW met with "responses" that showed incompetence at best, dishonesty at worst for they claimed that the 2nd tech was saying a different motor needed replacement. Fact is THERE IS ONLY 1 MOTOR! In recommending entire furnace replacement, PW cited the age of the furnace is such that they can't get parts (despite PW's 1st tech charging for 5h labour and parts including: motor, pulley, fan belt).
Getting no satisfaction, and losing all confidence in PW, I hired another contractor. He concluded the bearings were damaged, and blower wheel skewed, likely due to over-tightened fan belt; changed the 2 bearings and charged $294. Tenant: The furnace now runs smoothly and silently. This company 778 was in many ways superior than the others [i.e. Pacific West's 2 techs]

Low water pressure - Resolved

Our downtown condo recently had low water pressure to the entire suite. We originally had two other plumbers attend, but neither of them could resolve the issue. Pacific West Mechanical attended, reviewed our suite and the building's equipment. They were able to quickly resolve the issue off the building's equipment and restore our water pressure. Their technician was very polite and extremely knowledgeable. We would recommend this company for complex building issues and their efficient service.

DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE

DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. I barely ever take the time to write a review even if using a bad service. This was exceptionally awful. If you look closely at their online reviews there are very awful ones and there are ones they may have paid for to be good for their marketing. They do not communicate well and they have the most awful customer service. They will charge you without communicating their amount -
They will treat the people in your home belligerently, they are not far from normal customer service standards. I highly recommend you read some of their other reviews before subjecting yourself to their awful customer service personnel who you let into your own private spaces/ homes.

When they work on our condo building, we lose hot water afterwards!

When Pacific West shows up to complete work on our condo building, the entire building then loses hot water for a day or two! This is now the 3rd time in 7 months that such a thing has happened. It is has been because of an error caused by Pacific West.
