Thanks KB for your review of my business. Your underpinning project in High Park / Roncesvalles area had some unique challenges including ultra-tough soil and rubblestone foundations. Maikel, Rafa, Jae, [myself!] and the rest of the New Depths Underpinning team put in some long hours pounding through that blue clay, but the new 8.5ft basement ceilings make it all worthwhile! It was a great project from start to finish - flush underpinning detail all around, all new basement drains, new/longer structural steel columns, and 3.2" R10 insulation laid under the slab for the hydronics infloor heating loops. Thanks so much Susan! My team and I greatly enjoyed taking on another project for you - thank you for having us back! I can certainly understand that the existing cracked, heaved, and improperly graded concrete walkway you had would have been a nuisance to maintain and shovel off in the winter. Those issues should be a thing of the past with over 60ft of new high strength concrete poured and now finished with a gentle & consistent slope away from the house! Hi Jing, thank you very much for your review. While all of the homes we work on certainly get a structural overhaul yours did present some additional opportunities for improvement. We replaced an old drop beam & post system (and some random wood posts & jackposts!!) with new TJI full span lumber which really opened up that south room into a great new space. The 28ft of new steel flush beams in the main room was also a fantastic improvement and we're so glad you made that decision as the space looks really great now. In an old home like yours underpinning not only gives you the new headroom you are looking for - but it also significantly strengthens and solidifies your foundation.
