    Replacement Windows

I wrote a good review over 5 years ago, but 4 years after the installation of all windows and a front door, the stain on the front door began to flake, showing white beneath it. It has got worse and the follow-up was terrible: ages to respond to emails and messages: someone came to measure but it was a full year after the original complaint. Now I will have to hire someone to do a paint touch-up and it will never look as good as it did originally. People used to admire my front door and I would pass on the name of Fieldstone. Now they say, " Who on earth did that?" A pity. A small problem that could have been resolved. Things got worse. After I had written this review, they phoned and had me drive up to their showroom to collect a replacement piece for where the paint had flaked and when I brought it home, it was the wrong size. It doesn't fit. I have phoned them and have had no response. Somewhere, sometime, I good company needs to admit, they made a mistake and will fix it. They seem incapable of taking responsibility. I was their biggest fan but will never recommend Fieldstone now. will

First review response: We love hearing that our customers heating and cooling expenses have gone down after we are done! Response to 2nd & 3rd review: I’m sorry if you are not happy with your door. We did everything we can to help you with your door problem. The door stain unfortunately is out of warranty and the owner went out of his way to get you the stain kit you requested. You have contacted us again saying that it starts fading again. Ken did not want you to spend over $400 to get a new surround from the supplier and diligently went above & beyond to find a supplier who can provide the rare surround you have at no cost. I have emailed you that it will be a quite process as we have to send someone to template it and send it to our supplier. When we finally have the part to be installed, you sent us an email saying you are beyond angry. I assure you that no other company will do what we did to help you with your door issues. We are committed to our customer’s satisfaction. Even if this was 4-5 years old door, we are more than willing to extend our services to you. It is very unrealistic for a company to pay for something that is out of warranty. When you came & picked up the trim, you asked us if your guys won’t have any issues installing them. I then advised you that our installers do this type installation on a regular basis and they had no issues. Instead of hiring us, you hired someone else. Now you’re having issues and blaming us because your service guy did not know how to install it properly.

    Replacement Windows

We have been satisfied customers of Fieldstone on two separate occasions: the first was simply a new, larger kitchen window which enhanced our view of the back garden, the second, a few years later was new windows for most of the rest of the house as our extremely old wooden windows were "giving up the ghost." Our new windows are quite easy to clean, updated and make a huge difference overall.

    Supply Only Patio Doors

When we bought our home, we did so with the intension of removing a dated window that is in the dining room and replacing it with French doors that lead out to a deck. As avid “do-it-yourselfer’s” we intended on taking this installation project on ourselves. After doing a great deal of research into various products including those from big box stores and custom companies, we chose Fieldstone windows because they offered the door option we were specifically looking for, we were impressed by their portfolio and their prices were comparable to other similar products. Our experience through the sale was positive until we called to confirm our delivery date. We asked to have the doors delivered a week after their expected arrival date, which we were assured would not be a problem. When we called to re-confirm just prior to the delivery date, we were then told that date was impossible because although the doors had arrived, the hardware had not. After several phone calls, we negotiated to have the doors delivered without the hardware on our expected date and for an installer to come with the hardware the following week, although this was not the ideal situation. We are aware that timelines are not always precise when you are dealing with custom product. Our frustration and disappointment was with the way it was handled. The customer service representative we dealt with was unapologetic and unaccommodating. Her customer service skills are certainly lacking. We did not yet have our doors and already where unhappy with our experience. Although we did not place a large order of windows and doors, this was a significant investment for us and by dealing with a small company like Fieldstone, we expected more. The fact that our hardware was late turned out to be a blessing in disguise as it gave us the opportunity to meet Scott. He arrived early on the day the hardware was to be installed and from the moment he got here he went above and beyond our expectations. Not in just the work that he did but his attitude towards us and the project. Scott completely changed our negative opinion of the company into a positive experience and for that we are extremely grateful. We would happily refer anyone to Fieldstone, and as someone who works in Real Estate and Interior Design, will likely have plenty of opportunity to do so.

We're glad we were able to turn a potentially bad experience into a good one. Although your job was signed as a "supply-only" job, we felt that by going the extra mile and coming out to your house to install the locks as well as professionally foam-insulate your door and caulk the threshold, we could restore your confidence in our company.

    Replacement windows and Doors

We hired Ken to replace the windows in our entire house. He also enlarged windows and matched exterior brickwork perfectly, put in new windows (where none previously existed), and designed a beautiful new 2 story front entrance way. We couldn't be more pleased with his expert guidance in steering us to select the right colours and make the right decisions for each aspect of our renovation. Moreover, the quality of his work is second to none. Top this off with the fact that he is one of the most reliable service providers that I have ever come across! His pricing will fall somewhere in the middle - he's not the most expensive and he's not the cheapest. However, when you combine the quality products that he offers, with his superior workmanship and the fact that he stands behind his product 150%, there's no more sound decision to be made than to go with Fieldstone Windows. It's peace of mind and you will never look back! Joanne - Markham, ON February 3, 2010

    new windows

We have been completely satisfied with two installations by Fieldstone over the last three years. We had front doors and patio doors installed in 2007 and replacement windows in 2009. Installation was timely and caused little disruption to the household. Follow up service was also excellent.

We were very pleased to be able to provide you with your new doors! Enjoy them for years to come!

    replacement front door

My husband and I were very nervous when we decided to replace our front door. We recently purchased our first home and we'd never kany kind of renovations before. Neither of us being really handy, we didn't exactly know what to look for in a door or an installation. We looked at a number of companies, and finally settled on Fieldstone because they seemed to have a lot of experience and the work they showed us in their portfolios seemed excellent. On installation day the crew came and got to work right away. In less than an hour our old door was out and on the front lawn! Not too long later, the new door was in and they were adjusting it and then finishing it all off! Wow! In just over half a day we got the most beautiful new door for our new home and I just love it! Thanks Fieldstone.

    New windows

This Spring we placed an order for new 'Vinylbilt' windows for the entire house. We explained to Dave, the salesman, that because we were also having extensive renovations undertaken by several contractors, the timing of installation was quite important. We were advised that we could expect delivery/installation in about six weeks, with the second week of June being the target date. When we checked in early June we were advised that it would be ten weeks rather than six. No apologies, that was just the way it was because one of the large windows required custom work; something that we would have thought would have been known by the salesman and advised to us at the time of order. The actual delivery time was not particularly important; what was important was that we be properly advised so that we could schedule our other contractors accordingly. Rose, the Manager, then advised that they would install the windows starting July 14. Relying on this we made the necessary arrangements. A few days before the new installation date I called Rose to re-confirm. Rose's response was that the 14th was impossible as the crew was not available that week. She said that she had never suggested or confirmed that date. I then read her the email that she herself had sent to me confirming that date. This did not appear to faze her one scrap, and with her attitude of 'the customer is always wrong' she then said that I, the customer, must have not confirmed back to her, not that any such confirmation was required or requested. That contention was soon put to rest when I then read her the subsequent emails in which I had in fact confirmed back the same day, and her email back to me acknowledging receipt. So the installation was then rescheduled for July 21. The installation team arrived on time early in the morning of the 21st. They worked really hard and they were tidy and well organized, completing the job in three days. They left the place clean and tidy. We have no complaints. They appear to have done a really good job, although of course time will tell. A few days later we get a call from Rose requesting approval to put through the final payment on our credit card, which I did. I asked when we could expect the 'Window Wise' registration form, to which she replied that she did not know what it was and had never heard of it. Well, 'Window Wise' is a well publicized program of the Siding and Window Dealers Association of Canada, endorsed by Natural Resources Canada. The program independently audits and certifies member window manufacturers and installation contractors, unconditionally guaranteeing the window installation for five years. This is in addition to the warranty of the manufacturer, Vinylbilt in our case. The manufacturer's warranty of course is important, however it does not include installation which in the case of windows is most desirable. Vinybilt has the 'Window Wise' logo on its promotional material, that was provided us by Fieldstone, and is a member of the program. However to be able to register ones windows and be coverered under this warranty, the installer contractor must also be a member of the program and be certified accordingly. With Vinylbilt being certified we thought we would be covered. However Fieldstone is not so certified meaning that the guarantees of the program do not flow through to us. It was our mistake, we should have checked it out more thoroughly. Had we been more diligent and known, we would not have gone with Fieldstone but rather we would have gone with one of the other quite numerous certified Window Wise installers such as Brock, Consumers Choice, Platinum, Olympia and many others. But Fieldstone have never heard of the program. All in all though, Fieldstone appears to have done a good job. We have no reason to doubt the effectiveness and integrity of the installation. The windows were quickly and efficiently installed, the team was clean and tidy, the windows themselves look great. However, their front office sklls could do with considerable improvement. The 'customer is wrong' attitude does not go down at all well.

    Answer from pro:

We were very pleased to be given the opportunity to do this job. We do apologise for any miscommunication during the scheduling process, and any subsequent inconvenience this may have caused. Rest assured that your feedback will help us continue to improve our customer service. Fieldstone Windows offers an industry leading 5 Year Warranty on installation, in addition to the manufacturers warranty. Although we are not a member of Window Wise, their 5 year warranty will not provide you with any more value than you already have purchased simply by choosing Fieldstone to install your windows. Rest assured that we stand personally behind our workmanship. Scott Daniels, Field Manager

Many thanks to Dave and the install team at Fieldstone, we would highly recommend there services they where a great help from start to finish. They did a great job of maintaining the interior of our living room by suggesting a “split frame installation” and may an outstanding colour recommendation for the frame to boot. Nice work gents.
