    Roof

Great job on my roof. Bob, Shane and company were very knowledgeable, answered all my questions and did a great job on the install. Had some plywood buckling, but they managed to get it looking flat. Flashing is nice and clean. Tarped my deck and surrounding area just as promised Got quotes from at least 5 companies in the area. They were not the cheapest, but I felt that their quality of work would be second to none, and I think I was right with my choice

New roof, edge vent and ridge vent

After my first meeting with Neil, I knew this was going to be the right choice of roofer. He did a thorough inspection of my existing roof including a visit to the attic. When he returned with the quote, he spent nearly 2 hours with me going through what was needed. The most important feature was my lack of ventilation, which other roofers were going to address by installing more box vents. My house has no soffits, so there is inadequate fresh air entering the attic space. Neil pointed out that most shingle manufacturers won't honor their full warranty unless the roof is properly ventilated. No other roofer mentioned this to me. I was told to expect work to start in three weeks. Four days later I received a call asking if they could start the following Monday! Shane and his crew showed up as arranged, dodged some tricky weather and did an amazing job. They spent a little extra time and materials to install the edge venting system so it's invisible from street level, at NO extra cost to me! In all honesty, with the guarantee I now have, which is transferable if I sell the house, my house value has increased. It's like getting a free roof. Thanks guys.

Shingles, roof vents, flat roof repair, eaves troughs, soffets

Excellent company to deal with. They came in when they said they would come in, did what they said they would do and had the job done a soon as possible given the weather. Clean up was perfect. Shane broke his ankle and still showed up every day. They even came in at 10:30 at night to lay a tarp down when a rotten section of the roof started leaking during a torrential rain (no fault of thier own, it leaked already but the roof work must have disturbed it).

    New roof and insulation

Without a doubt, my dealings with Juffs Roofing was the best experience that I have ever had with a contractor working on my house. In particular, Shane was exceptional. From star to finish, everyone at Juffs was knowledgeable, professional and courteous. Juffs told me what they were going to do, they did what they said they would do, and they did it when they said they would do it. Last winter, I had major problems with ice dams and leaks. I selected Juffs for their insulation and roofing expertise. The 60 some odd pot lights on the second floor of my house were causing havoc in the attic. The pot lights were already IC rated, so Shane and his crew meticulously added vapour barriers and spot foamed each potlight before doing the blown insulation. The also did all the insulation work from the roof and did not have to step foot inside my house. As a result of the improved insulation, I was able to set the thermostat 3 degrees lower that what was required last winter. In addition, it was very noticeable that all the rooms on the second floor of the house were at a consistent temperature, even the room that is above the garage. Shane, Steve and Bob also recommended that I spray foam insulate the flat portion of the roof in the front of my house and it worked like a charm. Due to previous renovations, my roof has sloped portions, flat portions and mansard portions. Do to the odd shapes, Steve suggested that the crew partition the attic into 3, such that each area had its own intake and exhaust. While Juffs was doing the work during the summer, when I was on the roof, I noticed that the heat was just pouring out of the exhaust vents. It was a good indication that the attic was very ventilated at that point. Now, at the tail end of this winter, I notice that I am one of the few people who still has a blanket of snow on the roof. Again, an indication that my attic is well insulated and well ventilated. Shane and his crew also did a great job on the roof itself. As mentioned, my roof is quite complex, it is not exactly small and despite the wet wet weather last spring, Juffs was able to complete the roof in just over a week. Each night, they ensured that the unfinished roof was watertight and not a drop came into the house during the rainstorms that we experienced in the spring. Since Juffs finished the work, I have had not any issues whatsoever with water leaks. During the whole process, the crew constantly invited me to join them up on the roof to observe and to inform me of what they were doing. It was a tremendous learning experience for me. I am also very impressed with after work follow up. Any questions that I have are answered by Steve within an hour or two. Well done!

    Replace roof and do soffitts

I spoke with quite a few companies in Toronto and I decided that I wanted to find someone if possible who would give me a high quality product and a string warranty. As a single parent family cost was a key factor and a roof is not cheap. I liked the salesman and felt he provided me with good advice (there's a lot to learn about when it comes to roofing). There were some communication problems about when work was to be done and timely response to my phone calls. However, when the saleman and owner (?) did contact me they explained that circumstances had led to the delay in getting back to me and from then on they listened to my concerns, educated me where I had perhaps some unrealistic expectations and agreed with some suggestions I had re process improvement. Part of my lawn had been flattened and they agreed to rectify this too. In the end I was pleased at the effort they made to make sure I was happy.

    Roof Insulation and Eaves Troughs

We have had Juffs Roofing do work for us twice over the last 13 years and have been really pleased both times. They are knowledgeable, have a great way of treating their customers, they care, they follow-up and they deliver what they promise. Our most recent experience goes like this: We had noticed some ice build-up at the side of our House last Winter, so I decided to give Steve a call to see what he thought might be the problem. While there, I also asked him to look at the many icicles and build-up we had at the back. Thanks to Steve, we learned that is was the many pot lights we had recently installed on the second floor that were the culprit. The House interior was in great condition, so it was not a time I wanted to face having insulation work done - however no choice. Steve assured me Juffs would do their best to not do any damage to our interior. The day before the work began, I spoke to Shane who was going to be the lead and he was also great at assuring me they would be really careful and everything would be okay. Well, it was not only okay it was fantastic. After they finished you could hardly tell they were there. Access to the roof was through my Bedroom and there wasn't any damage even in this very tight work area. Thank you Shane and Julian. They also gave me a proper vent for my Bathroom fan as a bonus!! Then Julian came back the next day to work on the eaves so no water would drain to the basement (the new by-law) and give me leave filters for the eaves. Julian and John had a long day getting all the materials together and getting everything done. It was getting darker a bit earlier so there were a few things still left to do. Julian promised he would finish everything the next day and he did. Thanks to you all - Steve, Shane, Julian, John, Bob and the blown insulation team!! Nancy and Anita

Roof repair, vent installations and shingles

Very professional service from estimate to completion. The team exceeded my expectations. Very happy with the end product. Used this company earlier for siding installation and was once again, totally happy with the results. Have recommended them to my neighbour.

    eavestroughs; baseement window

I hired Juff's because of all the ads I have seen in the area over the 35 years that I lived in my house - they were high profile. I got two quotes and went with Juff's because the salesman, Scott, seemed professional and seemed to know what he was doing. There was a point of contention and I acquiesced to his 'expertise' - my home initially had 2 downspouts that weren't as efficient as they could have been, so I had 3 more installed. When Juff's came out, I asked that the existing downspouts remain or get replaced when they did the eaves-trough. Scott said that wasn't necessary and that I only need two for the square footage of my roof as per the city requirements. So it was done as Scott suggested but he left me the downspouts they removed. In the spring following the fall installation, in a dense downpour the water was teeming over my eaves-trough....the ceiling in the sw corner of my house was dripping with condensation. I called Juff's, they came out and insisted that they did the right thing and that my eaves-trough was full of leaves. NOT! because I have them cleaned every year. Later in the summer, still within the year of installation, I had another issue with water down pouring. I ended up having another company come and install downspouts where Juff's had removed them. Even though Juff's installed my eaves, in some areas, to an unnatural slope, the re-installation (at my cost of $550.) of the downspouts prevented any further problems with water flowing over the eaves-trough or water on my bedroom ceiling. The only time I had a problem with the rain and water was that year that Juff's insisted that the extra downspouts were not needed. I concede that maybe Scott was giving me what 'code' was.....but 'code' was not good for my particular house! The other problem I had with Juff's was that the basement window that took considerable time for me to choose and pay for was not the window that arrived that cold dark night they planned to install it. After several months, the installer finally came, removed the incumbent window and then proceeded to unwrap the window that I bought - only to discover that he brought the wrong window. I couldn't leave a window without glass for who-knows-how-long in the dead of winter, so for a small discount the wrong window was installed. Now I need a new roof and so does my neighbour. Guess what - Juff's just lost an easy $8,500.00 worth of business plus any recommendations that might have come from it. Also, the advertising by placing signs on our lawns which happen to be on a semi - main street with tons of traffic.

HAd new shingles/repairs plus roof coating applied, insulation blown in

We had a leak in our roof at the end of the Spring caused by an ice dam. The first two contracters I got estimates from spent about 15 minutes doing a cursory inspection with the generic advice. Steve from Juff's looked on the roof, looked at the water damage and sat with me to ask specific questions like when we noticed the leak, had it gotten worse and which part of the ceiling did it start on ect ect. He pinpointed exactly where the leak probably happened--contradictory to the other contractors--and he was right. Due to weather and a full schedule it took some time to get our job started but we were always kept up to date on where we were slotted. When the work began Chris and his crew were very tidy, fast and professional. We had to wait for the roof to dry before the final coating was applied and due to rain it took over a week--the crew still checked in regularily and came to check progress twice so I never felt we were forgotten. A great experience.

    Replaced roof and added vents

We contacted Juff's Roofing after going through reviews on Homestars. We met Neil, who was very knowledgable and we certainly learned a lot about roofs and venting in one meeting! He provided a quote that was very detailed and let us know exactly what we were getting. We compared his quote to a couple of other "major" installers, and even though they were a bit more expensive, we felt more comfortable that they can deliver what was promised and would have excellent customer service afterward. We contacted Neil a couple more times after the initial meeting and he was very patient with our questions. After getting Juff's for the job, Shawn (Shaun?) and his crew showed up on the day that was communicated (they had to change it once due to weather conditions, which was understandable). They were friendly and worked really well - they had added a couple of people so that they can finish what would have been a day-and-a-half job in a day. The finished product looked great - we had some sheathing replaced, armor guard installed over the whole roof, ice and water dams (we previously had none), added some baffles/vents and had two fan vents/hoses installed for when we attach bathroom fans in the future. Now as you know, 2011 had a LOT of rain during spring - and NO leaks!!! Shaun even went the extra mile and fixed a couple of minor things for us (things we couldn't have reached without a really long ladder) which we really, really appreciated! We know that we expect post-installation customer service from them, however with what we've seen so far, maybe we won't need it! Thanks, Juff's!
