    Replacing Entire Roof

After using Mr. Roof Repair (repair service division for Juff's Roofing) for an emergency repair in December 2009 I was extremely impressed with their service and quick response to my panic! So I decided to use Juffs Roofing to replace my entire roof this summer. I did called two other companies for quotes in the spring just to compare but all I got was a price with no breakdowns and some small samples of shingles from both. No explanation of what needed to be done and why. No pictures were taken! One price was unbelievably low and the other one was twice as much. However, when Shay came to meet with me he was very thorough and pleasant to talk to. His patience, professionalism and knowledge were by far the best. Everything was explained to me in great details and he also took pictures to show me! Made me understood all the steps that needed to be done in order to do it right! Brought in a full set of samples of shingles and all the under layers. Told me what products they were going to use and why they were the best. I never knew anything about roofs, vents and ventilations until that evening! The price that Shay gave me was very reasonable and acceptable. It was well worth the money for the amount of work that they had to do. Most of all, thanks to Chris and his crew for their hard work in the intense heat. I now have the best looking roof on my street! Also consider that I am the first house on my street to get the roof replaced. These houses were built about 12 years ago with bad quality shingles! Why use any other roofers but Juffs Roofing!

    new roof, attic insulation, skylight

I have a difficult house to get a new roof put on. I think it is the first time the original roof was stripped and new tile put down. what was up there was the original slate roof with another layer put on maybe 30 or 40 years ago(house is now 100). Also it is very steep and there is limited lane access, only one side. And, I do not have a driveway to put the waste bin, there is a tree on my frontage, and the street I live on could not have a bin put on it. The first company I found told me the job was too complicated for them. The second company I found gave me a sky-high quote (south of Bloor pricing?). Finally I found Juffs and can honestly say that I was very well taken care of. Thier guys came and worked during a heat wave but did not complain once, thier clean up was amazing, they left all affected properies cleaner than when they arrived. The roof looks amazing!! I am so glad I found them and not another company. I would 100 percent recommend to anyone that they call Juffs for any roofing work, they are very professional. thanks.

    Roof

Juff's installed a roof two years ago ad I have been very happy with it however last weekend I noticed a small leak. I called their repair division on a Sunday afternoon. That late in the day they were not able to do anything until the following day when they told me I had to call the main office. Since the rain had stopped and no more water was coming in, I was fine with that. The repair guy alerted the owner that I would be calling the following day, Monday. Monday turned out to be a busy day for me and I did not get around to calling them however based on the info the repair guy gave the owner, they did not wait for me to call and sent somebody out to inspect and repair my roof. By the time I got home that evening the problem was fixed I didn't even have to call. It turned out that the problem was from damage caused by an animal trying to get in my attic and was not due to any defects in Juff's workmanship or shingles. I was very happy with Juffs Roofing when they installed the roof but the true test of a great company is how they deal with a problem two years after the sale. I don't know of any company that matches this level of service. Juffs Roofing is the best by a country mile.

    Roof Replacement

We noticed a lot of critter activity up in our attic and were advised by the Pest company that we had some "holes" in our roof. We called Juff's and they sent someone out to patch up the holes as a short term gap solution. Meanwhile, Steve came out to the house and assessed our roof for us, showing us pictures of the inside of the roof (from inside the attic), as well as from the outside. This was very valuable as we could really see how extensive the wear and tear was on the roof. Steve gave us a very competetive quote on the services, brought samples to our home, and walked us through the entire process. He even played with my kid. Steve gave us a scheduled date for repair -- very close to my expected delivery date of my second child! When my medical team told me the baby would have to come early, Steve moved up our re-roof date so it would be done in time to bring home our new son. I can't thank him enough for putting a safe, dry and beautiful roof over our heads.

new shingled roof, plus flat roof and all metal work

This was our first experience with anything to do with roofing, and we were able to ask questions of any member of the Juffs team. They were more than willing to take the time to listen to our concerns and explain things to us. They did a great job and I would be happy to recommend them to anyone.

    Reshingle roof, installed ventilation system

When I first bought my house the building inspector told me the roof was old and would probably need replacing, I called several companies, and many seemed to be trying to get in and out with their quotes. Shay took the time to completely examine the roof, even going up into the attic to get a complete picture. It turns out that I would need an entirely new ventilation system installed and they would have to break open the attic as it had been sealed with concrete! Shay was very patient and help explained all my options to me (several times!) and worked with me to come up with different solutions to the problem. He remained very calm and courteous even through all of my waffling and second thoughts. In the end I decided to give them the go ahead. The actual job was delayed a bit by poor weather conditions, but when the were finally able to come they were very clean and efficient. They were very clean and took steps to prevent any damage to my property from their work, and cleaned up after themselves very well. They even promised to come back in the spring and flush out my eavestroughs (it was nearing winter when they did the job) for me! True to their word, Shay checked up on me in the spring and their crew came in and flushed my troughs.

Replacing shingles, roof vents, and flashing

We obtained 4 estimates for redoing the roof on our semi-detached (shared job with neighbour) and Juff's was in the middle. Juff's stood out because they (Shay) took the time to explain all of the details of the products and methods they use and why they are using them (with pictures and samples). They were also the only company that went through the yard cleanup logistics with me: where to place the bin, protecting our garden, etc. So that's why we went with them. As for the job itself, it went really smoothly. They delivered a flyer a couple days before the job which outlined how to prepare for it. They protected the areas they said they would and even took the time to move some of the things I had forgotten out of the way (BBQ, planters, etc). The job took 2 days, and when they left, you could barely tell they were here (aside from the much nicer looking roof). Only one small thing: when they were removing the old shingles on the extension/mudroom, a piece of the glass cover for the light on the ceiling inside shook loose and fell down (causing it to break). However, there were 4 or 5 layers of old shingles on that roof which they had to remove, so it's understandable how that could have happened. The damage was pretty minor: I was able to glue it together and put it back in place. Not a big deal. Anyways, I went up on the main roof to have a look (both before and after) and the new roof vents look to be much better quality. The new shingles look good and the flashing around the chimney also looks a lot better. I'm looking forward to not having anymore leaks in that area (so far so good). Overall, I'm very satisfied with the job and would recommend Juff's to others.

flat roof and peaked (shingled) roof renovation

When I discovered, much to my horror, that the flat-roof bathroom addition in the house I'd bought just months earlier had been leaking where the flat roof met the peaked roof to the point where the pink fiberglass batting was soaked to a vomit-coloured, mouldy-smelling mess and soaked through the drywall ceiling, it became clear that I needed two new roofs--pronto. After having 4 companies come in to provide quotes--including Avenue Road Roofing, who estimated a full 105% more on the flat roof than any of the other 3 companies!--I decided to hire Juffs Roofing after listening to their thoughtful evaluation of what was wrong with my roofs, and hearing their smart suggestions of the various options to fix it. They suggested ventilating the attic with a ridge vent system and suggested different insulating options, including soya-based spray-in foam, which is much more effective at air sealing than batt-type or blow-in insulation (they subcontracted a company to spray-in the foam, and I was quite pleased with that company, their product and their service.) Juffs was so busy with previously booked contracts, and because the colder winter temperatures weren't conducive to installing the spray-foam insulation (which needs to be installed at 8 degrees or higher to maintain its efficacy), so the company could only work on my roof in the spring; accordingly, before winter hit, they sent a couple of workers to install temporary fibreglass insulation with a vapour barrier into my then-open bathroom ceiling to keep me warm over the winter. The two crews--that's right, they sent two crews, of 9 men--started early in the morning, worked very hard and finished the job of removing and replacing both a shingled roof and a flat roof in less than 3 days. Bob, the chief foreman, has been on the job for over 30 years, and accordingly has much experience about different types of roofs and what needed to be done in the case of mine. A salt-of-the-earth, no-bs kinda guy, Bob was able to explain all of my many tedious questions so that I would understand the rationale behind every stage of the process and all the materials they used...then when my mom swung by to blatantly investigate their progress, Bob and his son Shane--who has also been on the job for 15+-some-odd years!--had the patience to explain it all over again to her. My 86-year-old next-door neighbour, who sat outside in his garden every day to watch the proceedings, was impressed that the young men worked hard, seemed to know what they were doing, and didn't swear. They even watered some of the plants in my garden for me! (Thanks, guys. You should see how well everything's growing.) Both Shane and Bob invited me onto the roof to examine the work at any stage of the roofing process, which I took them up on a couple of times as I stayed home each day to let them in for an alternate power source (which they never ended up needing). They reinforced some wood where necessary without being asked (and again, without charging extra) and made sure the exhaust vent they installed as part of my now-updated bathroom was exactly where I wanted it before putting it in place. They also chose a lovely one-piece unit that complemented the look of the flat roof. From start to finish, everyone I spoke with over the phone or in person was professional. Susan in the office was my ally in getting in touch with Steve, the company president, when I had an important question to ask him, and she indulged me in a last-minute change to my shingle colour that I was really appreciative of. Steve in turn extended his personal guarantee that if anything was ever wrong with the roof, they'd be there stat to fix it, as their motto is "Do it once, do it right!" Shay, the salesman, was able to answer all my questions about various options and supplied an accurate all-inclusive quote, which he stuck to, so there were no extra surprises when it came time to pay the bill. He even paid for the addition of an eavestrough out of his own pocket (I know they're not that expensive, but the roofers felt it was important to add one, and since Shay had not accounted for that in the original quote, he covered it free of charge). If you do your research, you'll find that Juffs is one of few Toronto-area companies to sell only top-quality shingle, insulation and venting products, so whatever you choose to go with, you're guaranteed to be adding value to your home while making sure there's literally a great roof over your head. There's even a long warranty on the product and the labour, which can be transferred once to the next owner of the house. When the job was over, all the areas were in good order, except my mother noticed that a tiny out-of-the-way laneway had somehow accidentally been missed in the cleaning process. When I called Bob to mention this, he sent one of his employees, Justin, back within hours, where the poor guy spent over an hour hunched over in a tiny, hard-to-get-at cramped space meticulously filling two giant garbage bags full of roofing debris, which he quietly carted away with him since the bin had already been removed. He cleaned up the alley so nicely that my other neighbour, who is a maid herself and takes great pride in things being in tip-top order, exclaimed that she hadn't seen it so clean in 14 years! Obviously, the proof will be in the pudding after the respective roofs have sustained a winter's weight of snowfall and a heavy fall rainfall's worth of precipitation, so I'll check back later and update this post to keep you in the loop! Well worth the expense--and yes, it was pricey, but definitely worth it--for a professional job being done once and correctly by a company who's been in business for a great number of years. All in all, I am a happy customer who would without a doubt recommend choosing Juffs Roofing for anyone concerned about sleeping under a sound roof at night. Hire them before they book up!

    New Roof

We called Juffs after getting 3 other quotes. The Juffs quote was a little above the average, but Shay took the time to explain everything and answer any questions we had. They replaced the roof, and flashing, added new attic venting, and properly vented the bathroom. Chris and the Juffs crew took the time to protect my garden before starting any work, and cleaned up the entire property before they left. The crew worked hard, and were polite, friendly, and professional. I am very happy with the finished roof, and would not hesitate to recommend them.
