    Windows

I hired this company after several quotes! The windows are great, no problems up until a few years ago. The flashing was installed wrong, water leaked into the house. After contacting Durabuilt, they did fix the problem but took some time and alot of emails. Im happy with their product, but remember inspect the installation thoroughly.

    Entire home window replacement

I chose Durabuilt because they were affiliated with a wholesale company and their price looked good after comparing a few quotes. I had 13 windows in my whole house replaced over two different years. The first year I had mostly awning windows installed. I didn't like the very bulky frame around the glass and they greatly reduced the amount of light coming through compared to my old windows. The crew was quite rude too, but they did a decent and speedy job of installation. I asked one guy if he could clean the outside of my upper bathroom window while he was up there on the ladder and he replied "it's not my job". The second year, I had my bay windows replaced. The crew did a good job on the inside, but not the outside. The head subcontractor screwed up and realized that he ordered the wrong size of window for one side of my three front bay windows. He came back by himself to install the window so I was inconvenienced another full day. This guy did the worst job of cutting the casing that I ever saw in my life. There were huge visible gaps in the corners of the casing. After I insisted that he redo the casing, he tried over and over and kept saying that it was hard because the wall was angled. All three walls of the bay window were still flat walls! Furthermore, I had to get all of the outside caulking redone from this second crew because it was all goopy looking and a horrible attempt to fill huge gaps they left around the outside of the windows. They made so many extra trips to my house and I had to take more time off work because of their incompetence and poor quality sloppy installation and messy caulking. Durabuilt windows are OK, but they don't paint any of your casings and caulk perfectly like we saw from another window company that our friends used...they just do a quick sloppy job to make it good from far away and so they can move on to the next job. Up close you could see the poor workmanship from the Durabuilt window installers. Don't ever use a window company that hires subcontractors. I'm generally happy with their windows, but I wish the installation was better and cleaner. Some of the Durabuilt subcontractors took no pride in their work and they thought they were so good because they were fast. They were a joke and I let them know this when they called back for me to complete a survey about my experience with them.

VERY pleased with the service we received from Durabuilt. I would highly recommend this company and will definitely use them for future projects. They stand by their warranty and have replaced our faulty glass without issue. Our new glass looks amazing! I couldn't be happier. Thank you Amar, Trevor, Natasha and all of the staff that were involved with our file. I have recommended your company to several of our friends and family and I will continue to do so. We are so grateful for the service we received. Durabuilt is definately the "go to" place for windows and doors. - Pinnacle Ridge

    New home

We are building our house and decided to use Durabuilt. The sales person was very helpful, the product is acceptable to a point. Service is so disorganized and poor! Ordered windows in June and is now end of Oct and still waiting for some delaying the outside finishing. We had service come out to try to fix problems and not prepared so nothing was done three times. We have had service come out to pick up a window to repair only to find out the window was already picked up and in their shop. Weeks later we got the window back. SDL's on the garden doors are coming off in the cold weather! I wonder what the excuse will be this week! Would not recommend at this point.

    Answer from pro:

    Windows

This is our second time using Durabuilt and the product was exactly as ordered. My only small complaint was when I called for an update on the delivery date there was a lack of communication between the delivery warehouse and everyone else. The Calgary office had no delivery information and I then had to call Edmonton to try and figure out the details. Then the delivery driver did nto call me when he was on his way, as I had requested, he called when he was at the house and I was not home as a result.

    Windows Are Extremely Poor Quality

We bought our home in 2006 from Coventry Homes in Edmonton and it came equipped with Durabuilt windows throughout. We have had them out 3 times so far and we are still having problems with their product. Twice they came out to fix our bay window because it had moisture between the window panes and the panes were touching.... the second fix seems to have worked. They also came out to fix a bedroom window (I can't remember the exact issue but I do know that they replaced the glass on one side and left the window absolutely filthy). Currently, we have moisture between the window panes yet again on another window in our kitchen and also noticed a window in our living room where the inside vinyl frame is warping on the bottom. I called them about the problem and they tell me they will warranty the parts but I have to pay the outrageous labor charge ($125/hr) to send a tech out. The first 3 times they came out was covered by the builder warranty on the home. After calling the builder they informed me there was nothing else they could do and I had to contact Durabuilt myself. My experience with these windows has been the worst and I would not recommend them to anyone! Since posting this review.... Durabuilt Windows in Edmonton managed to find my file and contact me regarding this post. They apologized for the poor customer service which was initially given prior with my first call into the company and came out and did the repairs free of charge. I am not exactly sure how this website works regarding complaints & contractors but in this case I owe a big thanks to Homestars! Without this post, I would NOT have gotten the repairs done to the windows! As for Durabuilt.... I only hope their product has improved. I also hope that next time they look after their customers and fix their product as they should without having a complaint escalate onto a website such as this. Thanks Homepros!

    New Windows & Patio Door

We bought 15 windows & a patio door. I love the product BUT had zero customer service from the MANAGER!! They would never return phone calls, ordered half the windows in the wrong size.Never even apologized.Had to phone head office in Edmonton to get help twice (they were great:) Dealing with the Calgary office was the most painful & disrespectful retail experience I have EVER had in my life! BTW, I LOVE my windows - I would NEVER deal with the Calgary office again tho & CAN NOT recommend them.
