    Best 2 movers ever!

Hello, I would just like to compliment your company and a couple of your staff. My name is greg and you moved me on mar 30th 2012. I don't usually write letters of acknowledgment but feel these two fellows (JOHN and CARLOS) deserve some recognition for going above and beyond their required duties. I am temporarily semi-disabled with a broken back (healing). I was unable to pack much of anything, giving a very disorganized look to the move. I remember catching a fleeting look of disappointment in John's eye as he initially surveyed the job, knowing they had another move that afternoon. However as badly prepared as I was these two took it on with intelligence, planning and hard work. They patiently worked with me going through box after box, helping me determine what to and how to take these items. In summation I just can't say enough about these two. I am 53 and have moved many times but I must say these two are the BEST! Thanks again. Greg - Ricoh Canada Inc.

    Answer from pro:

Thank you greg for the pleasant testimonial. End of the month is always stressful for our customers and also our movers as time is usually never on our side when moving several clients in 1 day. I have very happy to see that our movers went above and beyond what you expected, as all our movers do there best to achieve this. - cheers Mark

    short notice 1 bedroom move

Huge Recommendation. When my truck rental fell through I ended up booking with you guys and not only were you able to accommodate a move on the first of the month (on short notice) you guys killed it. It took less than three hours from me still packing a box, to unpacking it in my new place. I'll never do the pizza and beer move with my buddies again, your move barely cost me more, and the difference was priceless. Thanks!

    office and home move

I've used Actionmovers on three different locations now. Twice for a personal move and once for a business move. All my moves are larger as we have a family of 5. On one of the personal moves they assisted me in packing up the entire house. They've never been late, never overcharged for travel time as others have and really great about their lunch breaks. What really impressed me was when i did my office move their willingness to get heavy machinery up to a second floor even though there was no elevator. There have been always 3 staff, different people but always super professional, friendly and ready to work. Based on my personal experience I will definitely recommend.

Packing, Storage and Moving of Household Goods

Action Movers packed up and moved my daughter's goods into storage and, about two weeks later, moved them out of storage, and also picked up goods at another location, with both loads moved to her new home on September 30, 2011. There were some issues with the moves themselves, however, for the most part the moves went quite smoothly (although more expensively than initially thought). Glasses that were broken in the moves were quickly replaced. However, I did have an issue with respect to a damaged IKEA dining room table. Mark arranged to pick up the table to see if it could be repaired. My understanding was that if the table could be repaired it should be returned on or about October 15, 2011. If the table could not be repaired I would have expected there there would be some compensation provided for the loss. I heard nothing further and called on October 25 and 27 to follow up. James, who I believe is the operations manager, basically accused me of not telling the truth, suggesting that someone would have had to take a baseball bat to the table to cause this type of damage. James also said that he saw no damage to the table when it was delivered to the house. I only related to James what had transpired. I cannot account for how the damage occurred, as it only became evident once the shrink wrap was removed. The table was not an expensive piece of furniture. I can certainly afford to give my daughter the money for a new table. However, I take great issue when someone challenges my integrity, implying that I have not told the truth to them. I reported to James exactly what happened, albeit with great difficulty, as he could not stop yelling at me. Action Movers might be a good choice for you, as long as they don't damage anything in transit. James pointed out to me that I had not purchased additional insurance, so I guess this means that Action Movers believes it ts okay to take furniture that is in fine condition and deliver it damaged with no responsibility for this assumed on their part. I finally hung up on James, as it became readily apparent that nothing further could be resolved between us.

    Answer from pro:

thank you for your response marianne, I am sorry to hear about your conversation with James this morning. Regarding your table, it was very skeptical about how the piece was damaged and how it was done, but after our first initial conversation i was under the assumption that this was clarified and handled. because we have several locations, I have been out of office for the past 2 weeks and contacted our repair agent who imformed me the table was repaired on tuesday and if you can please contact me directly mark@amovers.com and let me know when we can drop the table off this weekend, that would be wonderful. I am sorry about the delay of the repair as he advised me they were extremely backed up when we initially dropped the table off. Action Movers includes household insurance in all of our moves. James's implication on additional isurance was for your personal home insurance as some customers get that thru there insurance agents. Action Movers prides itself in handling any claim in a timely manner - as your glasses were replaced within 72hrs of your claim. - Mark H. - General Manager

    Short Move - High Price

Our issue with Action movers is twice fold. We used them to move 2 families out of one home over 2 days. I was moving the second day so was not paying attention to what was happening on the first day. The person we spoke to was Mark and he e-mailed us a quote for 3 hours to move a small 2 bedroom basement suite. There were approx 50 boxes, a table, 6 chairs, 4 chest of drawers, 2 beds and some other small miscellaneous items. The movers were slow and billed for 6 hours, as well they broke a chair. They billed for 1 hour travel time as well as a 10% fuel surcharge. I was unaware of these additional costs as I was not involved with the bill. The next day I moved. We were quoted 6 to 7 hours and the movers we had were a lot faster and joked about the guys who were moving us the previous day. The movers were great, strong and good intentioned, however there were billing problems. When they arrived they advised me of the 1 hour travel time and the 10% fuel surcharge. It is the day of the move, how can i say no? I need to be out of my house and no point in arguing with the movers, they aren't the billing dept. I was billed for 9 hours, ok only 2 hours over what the original quote was, but 1 hour was "travel time" i wish I got paid to get to work.... As well the 10% fuel surcharge was an an absolute joke. We moved literally 2 blocks! I called Mark to go over my concerns and he told me that this was a standard in the industry. I am not in this industry so how would I know unless you put it on the quote. As well the 10% fuel surcharge was not on the quote either... They also damaged a chair and an armoire. I called and spoke to the owner Mark. Mark offered a 5% rebate on the fuel surcharge but never credited us. Oh well, I work in marketing and social media and know that sharing my experience will assist others in not being duped by this company, and hopefully help the company change their ways and be forthright with their customers. Thanks for reading and I hope you find another mover to deal with. I am on to share my experience on other websites and social media platforms.

This review has to be one of the firsts, that truly shows how easy it is for consumers to write negative comments, without giving the full details. What Tim from surrey, forgot to mention first was our crew had horrible access the first day, and it came from a basement suite that had to go around the house which created a longer move than we quoted. Also, the chairs were covered in a silk cover provided by the customers that slipped out of our movers hand creating the leg to be damaged. (this chair was repaired within 48hrs and returned to the customer in better condition that origin). 2nd, after already moving them the 1st day and having a 1hr travel time + 10% F.S.C., this was mentioned during the time of booking, there should have been no confusion or issues for the 2nd part of the moving day. When we spoke with Tim we advised him that a credit would be applied to his credit card which it has. When we as a company deal with issues with our customers, we can not just go around slamming them all over social media tools, but instead of allowing this issue to be resolved, consumers feel the need to shorten the actual events in a negative way and spread the word.

    Move from Burnaby to Richmond

This is my 3rd time using Action Movers for a move. I find the company reputable, the rates fair and the quotes accurate. Mark Hirschi is a complete professional and was a great help with my move setup and booking. The box recycling service is great! My movers were very professional, on time and up front with everything. Good conversationalists too! haha! Everything was done quickly and without issue. I wouldn't hesitate to use Action Movers again, and I am actively referring people who need movers to them.

    Move from Vancouver to Cloverdale

Action movers is a good company as far as their movers and efficiency go. I have nothing against the workers who actually do the work. In fact, we liked the job they did so much that we recommended them to others and used them upon our most recent move. We had moved about 2 yrs ago and we remembered the movers and the great job they did so we emailed requesting a quote and was given an acceptable amount and opted to use them again. When I called to confirm the quote it was different, Mark agreed to honor it since I had the email quote. Upon move day the paperwork suddenly showed a travel fee which hadn't been discussed or even mentioned in either the email or phone call. Mark told me that because I had moved before he figured I knew about it. This was unacceptable to me and I was angry. He told me I was charged this the first time too, which was untrue as I found my paperwork later and there was no travel time fee. He offered to meet me halfway and since it was a out of town move I agreed, but still find it unbelievable that this wouldn't be brought up beforehand. Our final total was just under $500 with all taxes, surcharges, travel fees and the base cost. We signed off on this, but upon checking our credit card statement found that we had been overcharged by $200!!!! We both started thinking back to the first time we used them and had a feeling that the overcharging had happened the first time too. We went back through our credit card records and found that we had been overcharged the first time. So, word of warning for Action Movers - check your bank or credit card statements after the move!! I know many people who don't and we had to call them both times to get a refund ourselves. We won't be forgetting this a second time and won't be using them ever again unless paying cash.

    Answer from pro:

Thank you Katie for your review. It is unfortunate that your concerns were not expressed via telephone, as you agreed and accepted the .5 travel time, instead of the 1hr. 99% of all moving companies have a travel time, just like you, our company doesnt work for free, and our movers are paid 30 min to your location and 30 min return. 2 years ago, we still had the same travel time that was included in your move. if you did not get charged last time, then you recieved an added discount. Our sales office does inform our customers of a travel time charge, but we will not assume anymore that previous customers are aware, and will bring this up in our next meeting. As for the overcharge, we noticed that the following day, and apologize for the overcharge, we HAVE refunded the charge and rectified the situation.
