Install kitchen faucet and shut off valves

I needed a plumber for a few small jobs and found A McKenna Plumbing on Home Stars, as my previous local plumber moved away. Two guys arrived on time, and they were friendly and honest. E.g. I originally was going to have them replace just a sink drain, but they warned me that if they took it apart, it might disintegrate due to the rust, and would likely be better off replacing the whole sink. This made me realize that they were willing to recommend the best solution, rather than just doing the job. I will call them again when I do replace the sink. They did install a new kitchen faucet and some shut off valves for me and everything works & looks great.

    Leaking kitchen ceiling

Booking was easy.mi called Mark in the morning explaining my problem. The crew came over few hours later and assessed the situation. Apparently it was worse than I thought. They had to remove my tub in the bathroom in order to fix the leaking pipe. They were very clean and professional. I would highly recommend them for your future project. Thank you guys.

    leaking pipe/valve

A McKenna Plumbing in Oakville have got my business from now on. Having just moved into a new house I discovered that a tap was leaking and though the valve was closed, the outside tap was still dripping and creating an ice mound the size of a north-Atlantic iceberg. I called first thing on a Thursday morning and spoke with Mark and explained the problem and the fact I had to go away the following morning be with my sick mother. Mark sent a team over that same day who fixed the problem efficiently and as inexpensively as possible - no mess no fuss. I am sorry I cannot remember the names of the two men who came (David? & ??) - so much has happened since then and my memory fails me. Regardless, the service was top notch and I will henceforth call this company for all my plumbing needs. Thank you for the great service.

    Water softener installation

We had bought a water softener and called McKenna plumbing to install it. They came in and hooked it up pretty quickly, although they charged us quite a bit to do so. Later we tried to turn on the softener and it turned out to be a defective unit that didn't work. We returned that unit and bought another one and hooked it up the same way the previous one had been hooked up. After getting that going we discovered that the plumbing job was incorrect, and the cold water was not getting softened because of the way the water lines had been plumbed in. We called McKenna plumbing back and asked them to fix it. To their credit they admitted their mistake and came over the same day to fix it. They were able to correct the plumbing within a half hour and were very professional about it. Overall I'm pretty happy with their service - everybody makes mistakes sometimes but they were very good about responding and fixing it for no extra charge.

    Leaking Hose Faucet

We called A McKenna Plumbing for a hose faucet in our backyard that had been leaking for months. We thought it would be a big job, but the guys showed up and were able to repair the faucet quickly. The price was fair, they showed up on time, and I was able to make it back to work before lunch. We've had a few plumbers come to do repairs in the past, and always felt pressured to do more than what was required. This was not the case with the A. McKenna crew. Honest local guys, reasonably priced. Will call again.

    Hot water tank mixing valve

We called A McKenna plumbing to fix a problem we were having with our hot water. We called to book a service call, and the employee who answered the phone was able to diagnose and give us a rough idea of cost. We proceeded to book an appointment for the next day. The guys showed up on time with the necessary parts, and were able to fix the problem quickly (ended up being a faulty mixing valve above the hot water tank). They were polite, professional, and left their workspace clean. We were very happy with the service, and will use them again for all of our plumbing needs.

    Plumbing problem consultation

Postal code pricing in effect with this firm - prices go up with the neighbourhood. A simple problem with a recirculating pump was diagnosed as a major issue requiring $1000 in repairs . Spent 15 minutes criticizing the work that has been in place without issue for 20 years & recommended wholesale replacement & repair. I paid $180 for a 15 minute session involving staring at the piping and making conjectures about what could be causing the problem. The problem was solved by another plumber in 10 minutes without requiring any new parts , supplies or re-jigging. I am not certain about all the other positive reviews but I know when I'm being led down a path that involves unnecessary additional work being done. The plumbers were happy to pretty much criticize everyone that has done electrical or plumbing work on this custom house since it validated their opinion that a lot of remedial work needed to be done. I would urge homeowners to avoid the firm. I certainly will.

A Mckenna Plumbing Ltd is sorry to hear that you were unhappy with our service. We are local to Oakville and service 17 homes on the customers street. When the homeowner called to request a service report he was told over the phone the cost for the service report and inspection. He at that time asked if we would lower the cost, We declined as this is a standard fee. The fee was $109 pls tax not $180. At that point he requested us to proceed. When speaking to the customer he advised us his carpenter had installed the pump two weeks before. Upon inspection we found his pump was install backwards and the 2nd Hot water tank was turned off. We turn on the tank and there was hot water again This was our only comment other than possible wiring issues that would have to be looked at by a licensed electrical contractor. On request we provided a quote for removal of the pump and a price for installation of a new pump. The customer was informed that the inspection fee would be credited towards the repair if he wanted to proceed. The customer thanked us for our service and commented that he would be using our service in the future.

Laundry Sink and Washing Machine Plumbing and Drain Issues

As a female homeowner it is difficult to find honest people to do work in your home and feel confident that you aren’t getting ripped off. Before meeting with Mark of A McKenna Plumbing, I was given a few outrageously over inflated quotes, and told that I had additional plumbing problems that didn’t really exist. When Mark and his crew came in I felt very comfortable having them in my home right away. They were very polite, clean, and honest about the work. Mark was very knowledgeable and he took his time to explain what was needed in detail. I felt comfortable with Mark doing the job, and was pleased with the price I was quoted. These guys did an amazing job fixing my plumbing problems and I would certainly call A McKenna Plumbing again without hesitation.

Leaking Laundry Room Valves + Leaking Water Heater

As with most cases when you need a plumber, for us it was an "emergency". Coming back from vacation our kitchen floor was wet and the ceiling was starting to droop. We realized it was a leaking valve feeding our laundry room. A McKenna came out quickly and replaced both the hot and cold water valves in the laundry room. Since they were onsite I also asked them to take a look at a leak around the water tank. It was localized to the mixing valve above the water heater. The part was replaced. However, that night and the next morning we had no hot water. It seems the valve was installed in the wrong flow direction. When calling back to let them know of the issue - and the cold showers in the morning - they were quick to respond, identify the mistake and fix it. They were very apologetic and offered our next service call for free to make up for the inconvenience.
