    Rat in my Kitchen 8-(

There was a Rat in my Kitchen. Blech!!! I called Joe at SNAP. That's what I did! He came over but couldn't find the entry from my house. He checked my neighbour's place and found a hole right where the two hoses are joined. Blocked them up and followed up later to make sure I didn't see anymore. Now that's what I call a happy ending for me - not so much for the Rat. What I liked most - he didn't stop searching until he found the problem, He called back to make sure I didn't find any more! His rates are very reasonable.

Thanks for your review. I remember the job well, I had to remove a section of decking at the rear of the home and found the spot at the very end. The access was sealed for good and that is the end of the rat issue. The job itself was done well over a year ago and the results are based on a good span of time. That makes me feel good. Thanks again Joe

    Carpenter Ants

We found few carpenter ants in early January in 2nd floor bathroom. I did a lot of research online and finally located the ant were from the window frame. I placed the bait bought from home depot for a week. But we still see ants in and out. So I called three different top ranking companies and some big companies referred by me friends. Most of them told me they will spray inside your house and guaranteed free service within some period. I don’t have pets but I have a 7 year old kid and I don't want my family exposure to the chemical smell. Joe is the only one who told me that he uses dust instead of spray to kill the nest first, and in early summer he will come again to find the queen nest outside the house, which sounds very professional to me. Last week Joe came over and confirmed the satellite nest and took out the rotten wood under the window then put some dust inside and killed the ants. He suggested that when the window guy comes to replace my window wood frame he will come over again to put some dust on the new frame to prevent ants in. Meanwhile he found one of the roof shingles fell out and he fixed that problem too. This morning he came again and put the dust on the new frame. For his additional visit and work, he didn’t charge me extra. By the way, the cost is very reasonable, compared to the work he has done. I am looking forward to seeing you finding the queen nest this summer. Tips: Based on my research and discussion with Joe, most carpenter ants in the house mean that satellite nest is in the house, most likely in the window /door frame. For the queen nest, it is somewhere outdoor but close to your house. If you want to solve the problem, you should find the queen nest and kill them. Also about spray, not matter how safety it is; you don’t want to live in a chemical environment. So use dust is safer and zero damage of your house. Hope my review will help the people who have carpenter ants problem. Thanks Joe!

    Answer from pro:

Wow, now that was the longest review I've ever had. This job required some carpentry work, insulation removal, a flushing agent and some residual dust. It was evident they were approaching the roof via a pheromone trail and sliding through a gap in some caulking around a lower window. Pheromone trails persist and ants simply follow them to a home. This scenario is the single biggest cause of carpenter ant job failure. Close off the access, remove the trail, and destroy the nest on the outside and positive results will result. There is a lot of work involved in a successful carpenter ant job. Thanks again Joe

    Pest control

Snap Pest Control has helped us on short notice many times to deal with pests like mice, cockroaches, ants, and even suspected bedbugs. They are honest and trustworthy, and will give you a straight answer on whether there is a real problem, or not, and what can be done. Their prices are also fair and reasonable. They also fix the problem properly, rather than having problems recur persistently. That's why we wouldn't call anyone else but them, because they're the best pros.

I thank you for the kind review. Joe

    Annoying squirrels in Kitchen vent

I had squirrels that broke into my kitchen vent and were making noises. Having a party I guess ! I called Joe who was very flexible with scheduling. He Came on time and fixed the problem. He sealed all the holes around the house and even checked twice to make sure there are no holes left unsealed. And amazingly he charged me less than what he quoted because he felt the job was easier than he initially thought. Now that is an honest man , the kind of contractor you don't see too much now days. If you have any pest problems, look no further than this guy. Very professional ,efficient, polite, honest. I am very happy with the services and recommend his services to anyone ! Thanks Joe

Thanks for the review. Like all jobs you never really know what is involved until you arrive at a house. The job itself was not as complicated as we both initially thought and I simply adjusted the price accordingly. Joe

    Bugs, Bed Bugs, Carpet Beetles

Joe (of SNAP) was a pleasure to work with. At a time when going home can be stressful (due to a bug problem), Joe was very pleasant to deal with. Even before making an appointment, speaking with him was beginning to make the problem easier to digest. I had spoken to many other providers on the phone before moving forward with SNAP, and SNAP was by-far the most informative and pleasant to talk to. Not just trying to get me off the phone or sell me services I don't understand (and may not need). Upon arriving, Joe wasted no time to get started. He and his colleague were EXTREMELY thorough, leaving no stone unturned, and no corner forgotten. Add to this thoroughness, a level of professionalism and courtesy that is often lost with Businesses these days, and it's a no-brainer to see why SNAP is so highly rated! They may not be the cheapest provider, but based on their thoroughness and professionalism, I have no doubt that they offer the BEST VALUE! Joe, thanks again for a job well done!

Thanks for the review. I take crawling insects and particularly bed bugs seriously. This is a very challenging group of insects and conversely requires a lot of determination and patience in order to achieve good results. Every item is checked and either vacuumed, steamed, sprayed or dusted. This small space took up to 4 hours with two techs to treat. Once again thanks for the review ,Joe

    Mice in Century-Old Rowhouse

We live in a rowhouse built in 1885 and have mice (surprise) every winter. This year, it actually started to smell like mouse, and when all my husband’s efforts (snap traps, bait stations, steel wool, tupperwaring everything in sight, wall plug-in devices) failed, I phoned Joe from SNAP. Before the appointment, I was reluctant, but as Joe was leaving at the end, all I could think of was how it was the best $ we ever spent on our mouse problem. Joe is professional and really tries to figure out the situation. He spent over 2 hours with his borescope investigating our home exterior, basement and kitchen. He was able to tell me major areas of activity, major highways that the mice are using and how they are getting into my kitchen range (gross). What I valued most of all was his honesty and professionalism. Because we were unable to identify an obvious port of entry into the house, he explained that we could not definitively eliminate the mice. He very proficiently lay down what he felt was more than enough anticoagulant for what mice existed, he suggested a timeline of when to do a major clean of the kitchen, and when and how to patch the holes that he identified between our house and the neighbours. He also provided design input into our (newly-hatched) plans to renovate the kitchen to eliminate future potential cabinet or appliance entry points. And then --- even though he spent so long on the problem and really gave us thoughtful advice --- because we couldn’t definitively solve the problem at this point, he only charged me for a “service call” instead of the full fee that he had quoted over the telephone. Highly recommend! You will not regret it.

    Pest control

I was recommended Snap by another pest company to deal with a termite issue in a commercial building. He came in, confirmed the problem, explained the details, and offered several options. He was prompt, helpful, professional, and knowledgeable and most importantly, got rid of the termites.

    Answer from pro:

Thanks for the review. The termites were active and if left unchecked could have devoured the whole floor. We eliminated conducive conditions, replaced wood, and treated the entire area twice. Access doors were left as a monitoring tool for the upcoming warmer months.Termites are not likely to return but I don't want to take any chances. Joe

    Rodent Infestation

Used Snap Pest Control to eliminate a spider issue in my home (6000sq ft) 3yr ago. They solved the problem and plugged all the cracks to prevent re-entry.They came back every year for follow up. Thanks Snap for your help. My wife thanks you everyday!

    Answer from pro:

Thanks for the great review. This spectacular beach front home was just infested with dock spiders. I had never seen so many spiders. The webs were removed, we caulked and chemically treated areas where they were nesting and followed up over the course of 3 years. Even I am amazed they haven't been back in those numbers since the first treatment. I will be following up this year ( spring ) before the shad flies come in off the lake to assess the situation. Arriving before the shad flies is critical because the spiders need these insects in order to maintain their own healthy numbers. Thanks again ,Joe

    Mouse infestation

had a bad mouse problem that I was dealing with for a few months. I was a little hesitant to pay a lot of money as I thought the problem was coming from my neighbors house which I was attached to. I was going to go with one of the other company's that put poison out and guaranteed it for 6 months. After talking to Snap Pest Control I decided to go with him and do an inspection. Needless to say he found the spot that they where coming in and showed me how to fix it and even left some poison to get rid of the ones inside. Well worth it. The only regret was not going for the full service. By the time I spent money on materials and the time to fix the issues properly didn't save me that much money as have him do it.

    Answer from pro:

Thanks for your review. I think an inspection in this particular case was a good decision. We had to eliminate the neighbor as an entry point and I was convinced that there was access. The inspection showed where they were entering from. In reality it never hurts to get a second opinion on nagging issue such as reoccurring mice. Remember, we get used to our surroundings and a different perspective is sometimes necessary. In fact it still took me a solid hour to locate the hole as it was only visible from a specific angle and blended in well with its surroundings. Thanks again, Joe.

    Service

I had a suspected flea problem in my house, my daughter contacted Jo, he and his assistant came and gave a thorough inspection of the house, the mattress, the sofa, the baseboard, the fireplace etc. He also checked my hair for lice. I told him I had bites on my face, neck, arms & legs, at once he said that was impossible, because fleas could not jump that high, and that the bites usually came in a cluster. He suspected I had an allergy of some sort & advised me to see my family doctor. My doctor confirmed his suspicion. To put my mind at ease he placed sticky board in the kitchen, the family rm, the living rm, my bedroom & the bathroom to catch whatever kind of pest that was bothering me, & I had to give him an updated every week for the coming 3 weeks. He called me the first week, but the result was negative. I called him the 2nd wk but he was not in, & within the hour he called me bk, still nothing was trapped. I called him again on the 3 wk, still there was no pest on the board, he came on the same day to give the final inspection, and told me there probably was not a problem. I was so thrilled that my house was pest free, and was really impressed that Jo spend time to pin point the problem first before spraying. in my opinion he is an honest, friendly, knowledgeable professional who will take his time to listen to customer, pin point & solved their problem and not the kind of person who will rush through the service and get the money. If I have a future pest problem I will surely call him back. Also I highly recommended his service to anyone who has a pest problem because you know you will be in good hands. Thx for everything Josephine (Thornhill)

    Answer from pro:

Thanks for the kind review. I could tell that my client was feeling the anxiety associated with an invasion of fleas. In fact the property was sprayed for fleas by another company and I was actually mandated to preform 6 extra treatments because the issue was persistent. Having arrived at the home I was skeptical of a flea problem from the onset. The bites were occurring around the neck area and fleas just don't jump that high. Also, the bites didn't look at all like fleas. I decided to be cautious because of the possibility that she was having an allergic reaction to the previous spray. We set out around 75 glue boards throughout the house. Not one flea was caught and I decided not to continue with any treatments right then and there. My client was relived because she herself could see negative results on those glue boards. Thanks again for the review, Joe
