Soffit assessment to determine if a racoon was in my attic

Joe was trapping a racoon for my neighbor and took the time to come over and assess my soffit to see if a racoon was in my roof. He gave great advice and tips to prevent future problems.

    Mice in the kitchen

I used SNAP Pest Control many years ago for a raccoon issue. From that time... I've considered Joe Bruno as the personable pest control expert whose work is reliable. I've waited quite a while to get Joe through Covid and medical issues for both of us and am glad I finally was able to have him deal with my winter mice problem. I know I can call him should I need to. Breathing a sigh of relief that Joe was finally here to fix my problem.

Thank you for your review. The entry point was located and sealed. I'm totally confident mice will be forever locked out now. Joe

    Amazing experience and terrific operator

Joe was extremely quick in getting back to me and an absolute pleasure to deal with. I had a bad wasps situation in my yard (in a very tricky spot) and handled himself with confidence and professionalism. He was exceptionally thorough and did an excellent job in getting rid of the issue. I'd use him again in a heartbeat!

    No More Wasps

I really appreciated the expert service that Joe provided regarding a severe wasp problem within the facet above a second story bedroom window. He took ample time to vacuum active wasps out from the roof overhang before applying the appropriate dust insecticide. Other reasons for highly recommending his company include the quick response, excellent knowledge and a very fair price.

Thank you for your review and for choosing Snap Pest Control. This has been one of the worst wasp years in a long time. Dealing with them in a safe effective methodical way is very important to me. Lately I've seen too many stories where wasps are blocked from getting out of their nests and consequently start to move inside homes. Glad that everything worked out well.Joe

Got the job done when other companies failed

We had an on-again, off-again mouse problem at our semi-detached in Toronto for MONTHS and two different companies just kept coming in, laying some bait traps, and telling us to be patient. I knew we could do better, and based on other enthusiastic reviews, decided to try Snap Pest Control. Joe actually assessed the situation - walked around the property perimeter, moved the fridge and oven and used a scope to see behind them, and bingo! He figured out how the mice were getting in, something neither of the big-name companies bothered to do. He sealed it up and the mice were gone. We were thrilled! Then, a few weeks later, they exploited another entry point - but no problem, Joe came back again, helped us to identify and seal that up too...and did so at no extra charge. Highly recommend this more thoughtful, targeted approach to pest control. Sure, traps and bait are part of the solution. But Joe is like a pest sleuth - he really knows what he's doing. Highly recommended.

    Termite Control

We had a great experience working with Joe. He was very knowledgeable about termites, how they got into our house and what to do about it. He sprayed the area where the termites had been eating the wood and came back a few months later to check it and spray again. He was happy to answer all the questions we had and gave us suggestions for how to prevent this issue in the future. He was so helpful and honest, highly recommend you hire Joe if you have any pest control issues. Thanks, Joe!

    Birds, squirrels, and siding

Joe was super quick to respond to an issue we thought we were having with birds in our eavestrough. Within a couple days of the initial call, Joe came out and inspected the area we thought was the problem. After getting up on the roof, he noticed the eaves werent the problem area, rather some of our siding was the problem. Birds had managed to get into an area where siding meets the valley and shingle and make a mess of it. Joe was able to re-attach the siding, cage the area, cage some of our eaves where we have a downspout to a rain barrel, and cage a bathroom vent that could have been a future problem. He was very detailed with everything that he was seeing and doing, and what to keep my eye on in the future. We learned a lot today, and Joes spectacular work and service is more than appreciated! Highly recommend Snap Pest Control if youre having pest issues.

    Ants

I had a huge ant problem. I tried all of the store bought ant traps. Called a couple of large pest control companies but what they were saying they would do for me made no sense. I called Joe. After Joe had a look the decision was made to remove some drywall below the window. Tons of ants dispersed. Joe treated the area on 2 separate occasions. I had my contractor repair the wall and Im happy to say I have no more ants. Such a relief. I would highly recommend Joe. Very honest.

Thank you for your review. The issue is whether you spray around the house or whether we find the source and get to the heart of the matter. The problem with carpenter ants is that they can be an issue for an exterminator. Most guys think that carpenter ants are an easy pest to deal with and will simply spray the whole house with the belief that they will mitigate or even resolve an ant issue. The ants are in the walls and spraying simply contains them there and so they just don't come out for awhile which doesn't resolve the issue it just means they're not visibly around inside. The ants are busy living in our homes, going up and down our houses exterior walls at will, while we are sleeping and that little baseboard spray is doing nothing. Don't get me wrong sometimes a good spray is all that's needed too. A spray that is targeted can work quickly and easily and a busy exterminator can move on. I will provide two examples which occurred to me this year. The first was a home in Milton whereby ants where showing up all over the kitchen in large numbers on a daily basis. The tenant was quite upset and was nervous at the prospect of a whole house spray which makes sense. I looked at the situation and determined the layout of the kitchen had some issues with their proximity to the rear sliding doors and the fact that a green bin was directly outside. I moved the bin and found numerous carpenter ants. The ants, I determined, were going to the bin and then simply walking through the sliding doors to the kitchen. The area all around the outside was sprayed, we moved the green bin and installed some glue boards and the issue is completely resolved to this day. Each job is unique and in this scenario a few minor changes were all that were required. So why do I need to spray all the rooms in a house when a simply solution was all that was required. The second example took place in Toronto and was also quite interesting and involved carpenter ants. The client had been dealing with carpenter ants for over 10 years and was exhausted by the numerous sprays put forth by exterminators which did not work. The house was sprayed in and out many times and clearly nothing was working. The client having read my reviews was looking for a different approach. I booked an inspection and we meet at the house a few days later and we discussed the ongoing problem. The ants always showed up from the top floor at the beginning of the year which I found interesting as my first clue. Secondly, they start to appear in the bathrooms and then make their way downstairs. In my mind I knew that the issue would be centered on that second floor bathroom. Upon further inspection I find there is a skylight that looks moist. To me a skylight is a constant source of potential moisture and so I was intrigued immediately. Remember my mindset is that there is usually a real reason for a pest issue, (just like that green bin which I previously mentioned). So I go to my truck and pull off my largest ladder and make my way up to that second story skylight. Looking around all seems fine but I wait for half an hour nice and still because I already know from other jobs that the problem is close by. I finally see a carpenter ant which has come down to the skylight via a wire which is running across the street running through a maple tree on the other side. I'm looking at this wire and its now the 401 or QEW of ants. They are simply following a pheromone trail right to my clients' home. The small opening in the skylight was sealed. I went across the street and pruned the branches around the wire. I sprayed the nest which was in the tree and now the problem is solved for good. All of this without spraying an entire house down. Both issues involved carpenter ants and yet they were uniquely different in approach. After 10 years of sprays I was the only guy to get on a ladder and deal with this issue correctly. Birds In The Vent

After calling Joe, he suggested coming the following week instead since he thought the birds were too young to fly by themselves out of the vent. Come the following week he did show up on time and had the mesh done within 1hr - 1 1/2hr with no birds in the vent. Not only did he dealt with the vent but also helped me to reinstall the drain spout that fell during the winter.

    Answer from pro:

Thanks for your review. That bird nest was tricky and I'm happy the whole family got out in one piece. We also fixed a nuisance down spout which was bothering me too for some reason. Joe snappestcontrol@gmail.com 647 991 1803

    Raccoon Visitor

It was an absolute pleasure working with Joe. We had a raccoon rip into our soffit on our roof into our attic and decide to wake us up with its loud dance moves. I contacted Joe the next day & we made arrangements for the following day due to rain. (I didnt expect Joe to risk himself on a ladder in the rain). Joe came out and installed a one-way door for our visiting raccoon to exit & not return. Joe also put a piece of wire framing on the other side of the soffit so she could not enter that way. After a a few days, she was no longer in our attic. Joe suggested to keep the one-way door there for a little longer, we did. Joe returned, removed the door & patched up that side of the soffit. Raccoon problem SOLVED!! Joe is a very honest, thorough individual and I would recommend him hands down. After contacting 6 business and no one responded, I am so very happy Joe responded. We got the BEST PEST man to successfully complete the job!! Highly recommend!! Thanks Joe!! I will always keep ur contact info. Wendy Joe also noticed a lot of ants crawling around my porch & without hesitation he sprayed the area. Ant problem also SOLVED!!

    Answer from pro:

Thanks Wendy. The job came in-between bouts of rain, wind ,and sleet, conditions which made work difficult. In fact this past winter with its mix of extremes in weather was hell on us and likely resulted in some guys not even bothering to pick up their phones. The break in here, just happened, with my client calling the very next day. Due to the quick response time on my part the raccoon was evicted so fast she didn't even have time to set up shop in the attic. The key is to be aware of your house in early spring and watch out and listen for anything resembling wildlife around the roof line. Everything worked out well. Thanks again.
