My husband had been diagnosed with cancer and the prognosis was not good....12 months at most. He had always wanted a fireplace with a flat screen above so I searched and searched for the ideal unit and no where could I find one. I was very fortunate to have Steven's name given to me by a fireplace shop and was on the phone to him that day in late October. I told him of the situation and had thoughts it would be a wonderful last Christmas present that he could enjoy throughout the winter while having his cancer treatments. Steven was fantastic and I sometimes wondered if he put other projects on hold to complete the project in time for Christmas. He would come to the house in the mornings to measure and plan when my husband was well enough to go to work...it was comical as I would call him and say "he's gone" come over!!......and he would leave his shop and come....it was to be a surprise. The finished project is absolutly beautiful and tenderly made. It is a corner unit in maple to match the wood trim in the room, the fireplace was enclosed in black granite. On either side of the fireplace are hidden storage doors for DVD's....push in the side and a door pops open. Directly below the mantle is a drop down glass door and in that space is ample room for all the components. Attached to the mantle is a soaring cabinet that the TV is attached to and extends almost to the ceiling with a shelf on the top. His work is excellent, he was always pleasant,professional, helpful and reasonably priced. I would highly recommend Steven for any project. Thank you again Steven, Ken did get to enjoy his unit and I have had many compliments on your work over the past year.

We were looking for someone to renovate our outdated brick fireplace in our family room for 3 years. Not only were we given run arounds by people, we were quoted prices that were more than double and some triple. A friend recommended Steve from Black Forest and immediately we felt confident that we could trust him to do the job. Very nice and down to earth and professional, he didn't talk down to us and brought lots of pictures. He gave recommendations based on his experience which we were very happy with. We will be adding more custom cabinetry to our home in the future and we can't imagine hiring anyone else to do the job. We've gotten so many compliments on the design and workmanship and we have no hesitation at all in recommending Steve to our family and friends. Don't bother going to anyone else…you will be very happy with the service.

I shopped around for a while until I finally chose to go with Black Forest Woodwork. The service was exceptional, I was given great suggestions and ideas. The mantel was designed with all the details I wanted plus a few more were added that I thought were great. I definitely would use them again for my next project.

We had an old, reclaimed pine mantel in our dining room. We wanted to embelish it to make it look more substantial and have it restained to match the trim in our room. We also wanted to build out a wood surround to our stone fireplace in our basement. From design, to quote, to the finished product, Steven was very professional. It is rare in this industry to meet contractors who are able to provide good service, a fair price and an exceptional product. We have recommended Steven to friends and we will definately use him again for projects in the future.

Steve's work was flawless and he has a wonderful eye for detail. We initially hired him to build a fireplace mantle, but we liked his work so much that we called him back to build a bar and wall unit. When it was completed, it is exactly what we envisioned. Steve was very neat and cleaned up well after the jobs were complete.

Our family moved into a 20 year old home in Vaughan a little while ago and we had a few renovations to do. We thought we would start with the family room since that is where we spend most of our time, besides the kitchen. We were referred to Steven through our friends who had a fireplace mantle and bathroom vanity done for them. We loved what we saw and the feedback we received and decided to go with him. I must say, when we met Steven, we told him what we envisioned for the room but he went beyond our expectations with his recommendations and of course, the final product. He created a beautiful mantle and wall unit from one end of the wall to the other. It looks amazing, like a piece of art. We are so happy with it. We love spending time in this room. We have the television above the fireplace mantle and the shelves, some open and some with closed doors; provide a place for us to display some of our books and artefacts from our trips. Since we have small children, there are a lot of toys around but when guests come over, we are able to tidy up fast and put everything in the wall unit. We loved the fact that he spent so much time with us when we first met him, going through different ideas and materials to use and the layout…basically, what would look nice. The installation was done on time, as promised. I believe that we got a good quality product, which was affordable and is praised by all of our friends. Our next project will be the bathrooms and then the kitchen and we will definitely use Steven for those jobs as well. We highly recommend his services. Erica and Joe
