Reliance's contractor sub'd to a sub who sub'd to someone else. Then they accused me of taking their old water heater (?), caused me $500 of inconvenience bills from my tenant, .. and all because THEIR old unit failed and all I I wanted to do was have them replace it. The old gas unit had to be replaced with an electric one they said ... but whoever came in, did not cap the gas, charged my tenant for 'extra work' (while having him help him up the stairs with the old unit) and then Union Gas would not turn the gas back on for the furnace (thankfully, it was summer, but it took 4 months to fix so I was very worried I'd be non-compliant with providing heat for my tenant in Sept!). Reliance claimed 'their' contractor had not removed the unit - I guess their contractor did not want to admit he had sub'd to a sub (who I eventually found, spoke to and who confessed he HAD been there but wasn't supposed to be). Reliance kept sending electric (vs. gas) contractors to fix the problem as their records showed it as an electic unit - they DID NOT LISTEN to me over & over & over again - and my tenant kept charging ME for missing work to let them in). I demanded to be cc'd on emails and watched them send work orders to TORONTO contractors where I'm located (vs. THORNBURY contractors where the unit was located). All the while every time I called - over 4 months (!!) to get this resolved, I had to re-tell my situation to a different person for minimum 20 min. on the phone. Reliance hung up on me at one point when, after my 27th call (yes, 27 calls folks and I still wasn't done!) I was 'irate' and yelling. Honestly, I am the most meak, mild person but I have never felt so trapped and frustrated by a company and I was actually in tears. I have sold the house and advised the new owner to GET OUT of doing business with Reliance, whatever it costs. I advise everyone to run from Reliance. Now.
