Hot water tank rental
On Wednesday, November 16 I had a technician of yours come to service my hot water tank, which is rented through you. While here he noticed that the exhaust was not hooked up properly, which was allowing Carbon Monoxide to be pumped into my basement. Your technician told me the last service we had was in December of 2015. During that service, your technician unhooked the tank, including the exhaust and removed a floater from a pipe close by. When he hooked it back up, he did not attach the exhaust.
Since December of 2015, my wife became pregnant and has just recently delivered our daughter. She was extremely ill her entire pregnancy. She suffered from severe headaches, light-headedness, and extreme nausea and vomiting. Doctors could not identify a cause for her illness. She was in the hospital on multiple occasions, admitted for a long period of time and then was sent home with home nursing care to help manage her illness. Due to her being so ill, she was rendered unable to work in May of 2016.
While we can’t say for certain that her illness was a direct result of the Carbon Monoxide present in our house, there is a high possibility that it negatively impacted her health and well-being. The Carbon Monoxide would not have been present should your technician had of been thorough in his repairs. His negligence caused financial stress to my wife and I, and potentially caused great physical harm to both my wife and our unborn child.
Thankfully another problem arose with the tank, causing us to have it serviced again and allowing for this issue to be caught. My daughter was 3 days old at the time of the service. The thought of something happening to her as a result of your technicians’ negligence is unbearable.
I have attempted to resolve this issue with the local service manager, however have been unsuccessful. The only thing he said was that his technicians were very well trained and that he doubted it affected anyone in our house.
If a satisfactory resolution cannot be made in the near future, we will be seeking further legal opinion.
