Well where do i start from. I moved into this home back in 2001 April and had the water heater on rental. Finally in 2011 decided to have it removed and replaced by owned larger capacity.
Called Reliance to confirm procedure to return the tank which Home Depot would get done; there was no charge for return as this unit was already close to 25yrs old.
I get a bill for $130 from Reliance. Upon calling them, they said the unit returned was in damaged condition - ok - do you have photos, i asked. Yes, we have photos to prove it. Fine, send me those - for two weeks i never get those. Then when I called back; they said I owe them this money ... story is changed... because I was in breach of contract e.g. the unit was being returned in 10 years time. Imagine my anger at this point, I have been in this house for 11yrs and on the tank it states the date of manufacture.
For weeks tried to get hold of the managers who convinently were always in meeting and i am now being threatened for collection. I had enough and filed a complaint with BBB and copied the correspondences with Toronto Star giving them two weeks to comply otherwise I was going to file a police case for fraudent practices.
I was got a call from their manager out of the blues and got my money back and no apology.
Bottom line. Never ever deal with this company. Buy your own water heater - it pays off within two years of rental that you have with these people.
