    Furnace Repair

Furnace conked out on a cold night . A technician came out within an hour and got it started. Next day Wilson came and checked, there was ice or snow in the intake pipe to the high efficiency furnace. He came again the next day to check on it and we had the problem solved. He was very informative and helpful and pleasant. Thank you.

    Boiler check up

What a fantastic, knowledgeable Technician - Jonathan was patient and informative, he tweaked the water temperature in our new Viessmann boiler and walked us through the programming steps in case we want to reset it ourselves. He very kindly told us to call any time if we need emergency service (highly unlikely, given the quality of this boiler) and showed us how to change the batteries in our thermostat. Very efficient and helpful. Everyone we've dealt with from Belyea has been amazing, from first phone call to follow up. Andrew and Marco did the most beautiful installation and explained everything about our new system. We love this company.

Wonderful experience w/ minor furnace repair & maintenance

Our techinican was Paul - he was friendly, pleasant and efficient, showing up on time. I was concerned about a new noise the furnace was making, and asked for a maintenance and diagnostic visit. Paul was able to determine that the noise wasn't a concern, but was able to clear out a clogged condensate line that I didn't know about during the same visit. Super pleased w/ the customer service over the phone also - just a great experience and I would recommend Belyea to anyone.

Fast response to dead furnace in minus 34 degree weather

On the coldest day in Toronto, our furnace died.....We called Belyea Bros at 9 am on a Sunday - receptionist was super nice and sent us Anthony who showed up at 2:30 pm - plan changed from a repair job to a replacement. Our ANGELS, Wilson, Mark and Darren showed up bright and early less than 48 hours later with a new furnace and installed it. GREAT guys, great job - everyone was super nice and worked so hard and so quickly for us. We are most grateful, especially since we were new customers to them (no repair contract etc). Very impressed with how well we were treated.

Complete Replacement of Ducts & Capping of Old Ducts

It was an absolute pleasure dealing with Dominic - from the initial phone call, through quoting process and right through to the completion of the job. He was quick to return my calls, answer any questions and gave great advice. We were in a bit of a bind with time, but Dominic was able to make things happen for us, which we were extremely grateful for – especially knowing how busy they were at the time! Scott did our install and was also a friendly, knowledgable, and hard-working individual. He did amazing work, and it was done extremely quick. I highly recommend Belyea, Dominic and Scott. They know what they are doing, keep clear communication throughout the project and did spectacular work. Got us ready for spray foam in time, which made us happy campers! Will be calling them with any future HVAC-related jobs that may arise.

    Water Heater (Navien) Replacement

Can’t say enough about Matt and the whole team at Belyea. They diagnosed the problem with our Navien right away and rather than just push a replacement by another company they worked with Navien to make sure our warranty was honored. Matt and his 2 associates came within 24 hours of the problem to install the replacement. They were prompt, efficient and knowledgeable. A great service experience- which is a big deal these days in Toronto housing. Thank you!!

    Gas Leak Repair

Office or technicians call ahead of time to announce their arrival. The technicians were very professional. They knew exactly how to restore gas service to all appliances. Ran a new, exterior gas line with minimal disruption. Tidied up after themselves.

Belyea installed our NTI boiler and service it annually. All Belyea technicians and office staff have been extremely customer focused, perform quality work, and quickly respond to questions we have.

    Annual furnace maintenance

[Review posted 2018-Dec-13] Now that the colder temperatures are here I was glad to have my Viessmann combi system working in top form. Fernando had come by on 2018-Jul-04 and did, as expected from anyone from Belyea, a great job in making sure our boiler was working as it should be not only for this heating season, but also for daily use as we use if for our on-demand hot-water. It sure is nice never to have to worry about running out of hot water for those long showers! :) Thanks to Fernando and Belyea once again for taking care of our systems and making sure we have no issues!

    Answer from pro:

    Air Conditioner "Maintenance"

Purchased a ductless air conditioner 4.5 years ago, where the unit was running fine. Belyea even offered a free maintenance the first year, but never followed up with us to visit (even when we have home maintenance protection at that time, and purchased a $13,000 furnace from them 2 years later). Belyea was called to see why the A/C was not cooling, they arrived 3 days later, charging $221 as a diagnostic, then another $119 to do simple maintenance (3 minutes), claiming leaves were in the outdoor unit. There was a loose drain hose that was fixed (zip-tied) for $95 (after they installed it a few years ago!). Mysteriously the unit 3 weeks later is blowing hot air, not cooling. Belyea was called again, performed an $800 leak test, concluding a $1800 repair must be done on the unit. The technician then presented a sales pitch "it would be better to purchase a new unit". Now we are dealing with Mitsubishi directly, and will also warn neighbours and friends in North Toronto to stay away from such a company. There are many companies out there you can trust in your older homes! All of this happened during a heat wave in August/September 2018.

    Answer from pro:

We completely sympathize with Mrs. Ivanyshyn’s frustration with her ductless unit and have tried to provide the best advice based on her circumstances. We installed her boiler in September 2012 and included at no charge maintenance 18 months after the installation. We installed her Mitsubishi ductless unit on May 3, 2013 and the unit has had no maintenance since installation. On August 7th, 2018 they called saying the unit was not cooling. Our techs found the outdoor unit completely plugged with dirt, performed an extensive maintenance to clean the unit and got it operating. Outdoor units often get plugged up with fine plant debris and dust (an especially widespread problem in Toronto usually stemming from neighbors renovating homes and/or road work). On Sept 4 we were called saying the unit was not cooling again. We attended the home and found the unit low on refrigerant, and performed a leak test. A leak test requires putting system under pressure for 24-48 hours to determine the location of a leak when there are no obvious signs at any of the valves. The result of the test determined that the leak was in the indoor coil of the unit, a repair that is essentially replacing half the system, and so suggested that replacing the system would be a better choice to make. When systems become plugged with dirt they can overheat which can cause refrigerant leaks. Unfortunately, there is also no way of being able to guarantee the integrity of a system after it has been run in these circumstances. Mrs. Ivanyshyn’s situation serves as an important reminder to be proactive with looking after equipment. Mitsubishi make excellent ductless units, but they require maintenance. It’s really no different than cars. It doesn’t matter if you buy a Chevy or a Mercedes, if you don’t maintain your car, it will break.
