    laminate flooring purchase

I am very surprised that they are still in business! They have competitive prices but the policies are not transparent. The owner Raj, said I could bring back unused materials but when I took it back, they charged me 15% restocking fee "as stated on the invoice". They failed to let me know about this while I was purchasing or I wouldve been more careful while purchasing.

    Answer from pro:

We at Brampton Hardwood Flooring are very sorry that Fatima feel's this way. Over the past 30-years we have become the largest hardwood flooring retailer in Ontario by providing great prices, quality and customer service. About one hundred happy, satisfied customers purchase from us every day, which is well over 30,000 clients a year. As our many customers have come to know, almost everything we sell in our store is in stock in one of our two giant warehouses. We differ from our competitors as our on hand inventory is the largest in Ontario, so that in addition to the best prices our customers can also enjoy the added value of "cash and carry", which means not having to wait for their wood to be ordered and delivered to the store. To maintain this benefit for our customers, we have a large staff of warehouse employees that right after purchase will pick the order from one of our warehouses, prepare the boxes for pickup or delivery, and then move the completed order to a separate area away from the general inventory. This occurs whether the customer is picking up right away, or at a later date (to ensure that the product will not mistakenly be sold to another customer). We of course cover the cost of this service for our customers, and only ask in return that the customer does their part and ensures that the measured quantities purchased are accurate. If not, our work doubles when an order changes after being picked, prepared and set aside. When a customer makes an error in calculation and orders too much product, and then wishes to correct it, we of course wish we were able to cover the additional expense even without any fault on our part. However, to do so would increase our overhead to the extent that we could no longer provide the same great prices and service that our business has become famous for over almost 30 years. Thus, we have no alternative but to charge a small restocking fee to cover this added expense. THE RESTOCKING FEE IS NOT A SURPRISE TO OUR CUSTOMERS, AS IT IS WELL PUBLICIZED ON SIGNS THROUGHOUT THE STORE, ON THE COUNTER OF THE CASH-OUT DESK AND ON THE SALES RECEIPT . We hope Fatima can understand our position and we wish her all the best.

    Renovation

Please do not buy hardwood from this place. They are so pleasant when you are buying but try calling them after you have purchased and run into issues. There is no one to take responsibility. We have purchased hardwood from them it is about four months ago and the boxes has so many small pieces and we tried to call them many times but no one takes responsibility. They are so bad after the sales you won't believe. So, just be careful. Here is what happened to us and what we had to go through: After paying for the wood, I was told to pickup the wood from pick-up area. When we went to pick-up the wood, they said we don't have it here you will need to go to the warehouse which was about 5-10 k from there place. We went there to pick-up the wood, they said we don't have it in stock today. It was quite disappointing you won't believe. This happened after paying for the merchandise. We call the office they said talk to the warehouse manager. Finally, he promised that the wood will be delivered to your home on Monday. Waited full day and when we did not receive the wood I phoned the warehouse, he said I don't have the driver today but can deliver next week. We were so disappointed and frustrated with his response. I asked him at least you should have called us and informed us. No response from him, Then we had rush from work and pick-up the wood since my installer was staring on Tuesday . When we got there to pick-up the wood, we were told that they did not have the full order and needed. Adding more pain, now we had to go back again to pick-up the half order. Talk to manger, he would say call the office. I talk to lady at the office ( she claim to be the owner when we were buying the wood; now she is the sales lady; won't listen at all we tried to explain the situation, she would hang-up the phone ( this happed twice). When I tried to call again, the reception said, she is not here, had gone out. It was quite a bad experience. We are not sure how they run their business. So, please stay away from them.

    Terrible Experience

We went to this company at the recommendation of a contractor. We needed to match our existing hardwood floors, so we brought a couple brand new pieces with us, and the people there said they had a match for us. We bought the box, came home, and opened it, but it was they gave us the wrong box and it was 1 shade darker. We called them to let them know, and they said: "The box is open? No refund. No exchange." I reminded them that they actually gave us the box; we didnt pick it out ourselves. They didnt care, and simply said: no refund. This is one of the reasons I never go to mom and pop shops in the first place. If this was a big box store, they'd take it back for an exchange without any issues. We ended up going to a big box store and buying the hardwood we needed instead, and we got exactly what we paid for. Thanks to this company, I'm out $200. Down the drain. Stay away. These guys just took our money. Terrible customer service experience. UPDATE: Just wanted to respond to the company's response below. You guys gave us the box! We found a match in the store, asked for a box, and YOU gave us the wrong box. This wasn't our mistake, like you're making it sound like it is. It was YOUR mistake for giving us the wrong product that we didn't ask for.

    Answer from pro:

Hi Andre. Our policy regarding returns is clearly stated on numerous posters in our showroom and on our sales receipt. We are unable to take back open boxes. It is the only way we can ensure that the product remains in its original condition, quantity and state before going back into inventory for purchase by other customers. This is why we provide samples pieces of our hardwood for customers to take home and confirm a match rather than selling them individual boxes. There was apparently a major misunderstanding in this situation, and we are not sure which product you purchased that would cost $200 for one box of material. We would ask that you please contact our store with your sales receipt number so we can look into resolving your concerns.

    Service great however installation not

Very happy with the service from Sandra. Polite, professional and very knowledgeable. Delivery was prompt and the driver was great. Where the problem started was with the installer. Steve came to our to confirm the measurements(over estimated by 2 1/2 boxes and one roll of paper). Work was to be done over 3 days unfortunately they did not arrive on the Thursday and only worked Friday and 3 hours on Saturday. Our issue was with Steve and his less than trusty sidekick Chistian. After a delay due to family health issues they returned to complete the job. Once completed I pointed out a number of concerns with the job (not happy with a speed bump as you enter the master.) Steve confirmed he would come back and correct the speed bump, damage to the niche in the stairway, damage to the new flooring and damage done when he tried to remove stains on the wood. After repeated promises to correct this he stopped returning my calls. It has now been over 7 months I don't believe Steve is the whole problem but rather Christian and his lack of interest or knowledge. I happen to know paper was not installed under a fair bit of the flooring. 1 roll will not cover 950 sq. ft. I strongly urge you to be present and inspecting as the work is being done

    Wouldn't Buy Hardwood Anywhere Else

The massive warehouse was a bit intimidating at first, and when I walked into the huge showroom lined with samples I honestly didn't know where to begin. I was greeted by a saleswoman named Vandana and she made the entire experience an absolute pleasure from start to finish. She helped me narrow down my options based on what I needed for my home and when I compared the prices to other hardwood stores I was astonished to see how much less I was paying. Will definitely be using them again and would recommend Brampton Hardwood Floors to all of my friends.

    Answer from pro:

Hi Anthony. Vandana remembers you well and was very pleased to help you decide on a beautiful new hardwood floor. The guidance of our excellent sales staff is often key to our customer's navigating the scores of different samples in our showroom. They are always ready to provide information and assistance, and continuously strive to work out the best possible price so that all of our clients feel that they are getting top value for their hard earned money. Thanks for the 10-star rating and for considering us for your future flooring projects.

    Awesome service, friendly staff!!

Re-did the hardwood in my house. My contractor recommended Brampton Hardwood Floors. The staff was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Best selection of flooring I've ever seen and they helped me find the perfect fit for me, my family and our budget. Thanks guys!!!

    Answer from pro:

When Brampton Hardwood Floors started operations nearly 30 years ago we catered to a mostly "professional" clientele such as contractors, installers, architects and designers. Over time we greatly expanded our retail operations and now serve about 30,000 happy customers a year. However, we also steadily grew our professional client base and work very hard to earn their trust and patronage. We truly appreciate their business and are especially grateful for the continuous and steady stream of retail customers they refer to us. A referral if the absolute best compliment as to the integrity of our business. It shows how impressed a client was with our customer service, quality and prices. Thank you very much for your glowing endorsement.

    Ipe Hardwood for my home

I purchased approximately 700 square feet of Ipe (Brazilian Walnut) hardwood from this company. The brand was St Lawrence Collections (which I later found out is affiliated with Brampton Flooring). The reason to purchase this specific wood is that I recently purchased a house and it has this exact hardwood throughout most of the house. I purchased enough to finish the 3 bedrooms that had not yet been done. This company is the exclusive supplier for this product (again I later found out it's because they are affiliated). My contractor, who I am super happy with, picked up the wood for us and brought it to our house. After waiting the few days for the wood to acclimate to the house conditions he started to install it, but after making the discovery that the finish was not properly adhered to the wood he stopped after only laying a few rows in one room and immediately reported this issue to me. We did a test with a coin on the end of one of the boards and the clear coat finish (which didn't match the previous wood of the exact same type and finish) was literally flaking right off of the wood. Just to make sure we randomly tested a few other boards from different boxes of the wood and they all showed the same issues. My contractor took a sample back to Brampton Hardwood as this was what was required when we looked on the St Lawerence Collections website for warranty issues -- they instruct the user to contact the supplier and have it escalated through them. After a week of hmming and hawing the sales person I deal with at Brampton Hardwood told me that they were actually affiliated with Brampton Hardwood -- that Brampton Hardwood actually bought this hardwood unfinished and then sent it to St Lawrence to have the finish applied and branded with their brand) and that the rep from St Lawrence would be in contact with me directly. Several more days have now gone by and even though I repeatedly call Brampton Hardwood I've not been able to get any resolution on this issue. I have approx 1000 lbs of hardwood sitting in the middle of a bedroom floor, it's too heavy for me to even move it, the store doesn't want to offer support, the manufacturer is outright avoiding the issue even though they claim a 35 year "wear" warranty (right now it wouldn't last 35 minutes let alone years) -- and I have professional movers with 3 truckloads of furniture showing up in the morning and nowhere to put it all. I highly advise avoiding this company if you want any kind of after-sales follow up or support. I've had to spend almost 2 full weeks chasing them on this issue and there's no apparent resolution in sight.

    Flooring

I just want to comment on Vandana's customer service and her swift fox like sales skills. I called the store to ask about their annual liquidation sale because I needed additional 600sq feet of floor that I have purchased from them few years back. Vandana replied that they no longer have these sales but the floor that I am looking for is on sale now for $4.99 and that I should get it right away because they only have 600sq ft left. I asked her if she can give me a better deal and she said she will give it to me for $4.89. Meanwhile I called other stores to check the pricing and it turned out Brampton Flooring gave me the best deal. The same week I send my husband to pick up the floor, prior to that I called her to confirm if they still had it, she said yes and that he can pick it up. After my husband came back and unloaded the floor upstairs to the bedroom I looked at the invoice that he placed in the kitchen and my legs became numb because she charged him $5.49 instead $4.89. That's over $400 on this purchase. I quickly called her and she was fast to reply that she never promised me that price and that I can return it and she hanged up. I blame my self because I was so naïve and forgot to remind my husband about the deal she offered me. He called me few times from the store to check but I couldn't pick up as I was in an important meeting. Vandana convinced him that she is giving him the best deal. I called the manger but he never replied. This business does not have any accountability for what they say or what they promise. I give them a big fat 0 for ethics. The $400 wont make me any richer or poorer but I just hate what people do to get a sale. If the floor wasn't unloaded I would take it back but they would charge me 15% restocking fee. Reading the other bad reviews I just don't know how these people sleep at night.

    Answer from pro:

Hi Agnes. There appears to be a considerable level of misunderstanding between you, your husband and our sales staff. You had originally purchased some of this flooring some years ago at one of our tent sales. At that time your price was lower as this was a stocked item with plenty of inventory that we were moving in volume at extremely deeply discounted costs. Like any sales event, once over the prices revert upwards again. Also, while this particular product has been discontinued for a while we luckily had enough left over in stock to service you. However, with inflation, greatly increased raw material costs within the hardwood industry and the diminished US exchange rate, costs of all hardwood flooring have increased considerably from a few years ago. Thus, as was clearly relayed to you by Vandana, the current price for this product was $5.99, but we would reduce it to $5.89 as you were a repeat customer. At no time were the prices of $4.99 or $4.89 even mentioned. As per our usual practice when a customer requests that product be held until pick up, Vandana had requested a deposit from you so an invoice could be prepared and sent to you. Notwithstanding your refusal to do this, as a good faith customer service gesture we still put the wood aside until your husband was able to come to our store. In fact, once arriving at the showroom your husband worked out a further discount with Vandana and you ended up getting the hardwood for only $5.49, a sizable $0.50 P.S.F. savings. Your husband was very pleased with the price and that that he got the last of the product to match the other hardwood in your home, and happily paid and picked it up. We therefore respectfully disagree with your labeling Vandana with "fox like sales skills." She was honest and open with you and your husband throughout all dealings. We also are extremely disappointed with your statements that we lack ethics and accountability. Brampton Hardwood Floors has over the past 30-years become the largest hardwood flooring retailer in Ontario by providing great prices, quality and customer service. About one hundred happy, satisfied customers purchase from us every day, which is well over 30,000 clients a year. It is too bad that you have misinterpreted the situation here and decided to post this negative review. However, please rest assured that we still consider you a valued customer and would gladly work with you to make this a positive experience. Just give us a call.
