    Beware of Enercare!

Did you know that when you move your residence, your Enercare program automatically moves over to your new home? Well I didn't know that until monthly charges started appearing on my Enbridge bill at my new home. When I called Enercare, I was advised that the heating/cooling program automatically moved over and I was stuck with it for one year. They absolutely would not budge on that. All the heating/cooling program provides is one yearly cleaning/maintenance visit. It does NOT cover equipment repair/breakdown. Since I was stuck with the contract, I scheduled an Enercare appointment for cleaning of my furnace and a/c. Since I am new to the home, I do not know much about these units. The technician arrived to do the maintenance and was perturbed that I didn't have running water at the front of the house where the a/c unit was situated and my hose would not reach. He basically said "tough for you, I can't service this". When I made the appointment, no one at Enercare advised that I must have running water for the a/c servicing. Anyways, he moves on to the furnace (which is a very tight spot) was was again perturbed about the tight working space. He got madder and madder. I basically asked him to leave and as he was leaving, he handed me a TAG which means that my gas would be shut off unless "deficiencies" were corrected with the furnace installation. This guy was scary..... I had to go to the trouble of tracking down the company that installed the furnace to come and inspect the "poor workmanship" he noted on the tag. There was absolutely nothing wrong with my furnace and this was done out of spite. Of course, I reported all of this to Enercare during a marathon 2 hour phone call where I was repeatedly placed on hold (they try to wear you down by taking up lots of your time). I demanded to be released from the service contracts as I will NEVER allow an Enercare service person in my home again. Well, no one got back to me and I called again today. Guess what! Nothing has changed and the individual I spoke to (who I'm told was a supervisor) would not budge. Ask any qualified service technician and they will tell you about the quality of techincians who work for Enercare - very low! All Enercare wants is to lock you into that contract which renews AUTOMATICALLY each year - they would obligate you for life if you could. Do yourself a favor - stay away! This is NOT a reputable company who stands behind their service.

Enercare leaves elderly woman with no heat on coldest night of the year

After Enbridge Gas turned off the gas due to circuit damage, Enercare was called for a service call. After numerous calls and explained the urgency to repair the furnace they got a technician to finally arrive at the end of his shift. The part needed to be ordered really??? Are you not the biggest repair company ... cant you pick up the part and repair the furnace same day? Nope, so on the coldest day of the year so far my mom alone at home with now 2 nights of no heat because the Enbridge Gas and Enercare who really does not care are going to put an "inquiry on the part" nice now go home to your warm houses and we will talk in the morning!!!

    Hot water tank repair

Enercare provided terrible service . We have been paying for hot water tank rental/maintenance for 12 years, and after 6 days of not having hot water, Enercare could not locate replacement parts, couldn't tell us when the parts would be available, would not replace the tank, and couldn't give me any information . I made many calls trying to reach someone who could give me information and assistance and never was able to speak with someone helpful and could not get a return phone call by someone in charge. We have now had the tank removed, are with a different company and I couldn't be happier about ending the relationship with Enercare.

    High Efficiency Gas Furnace Installation

I may have been able to get a few more years out of my old furnace but I wanted additional heat vents installed and a humidifier on the new furnace. Everything went well and the furnace guys explained things about the furnace. I now have heat in my hobby room. The new furnace takes a lot less space. It is quieter and responds quickly to a change in the thermostat. So far I am pleased.

    Dust Cleaning

Enercare did a fine job. The main reason I selected them was that I trust the company you get so many telemarketers calling to clean ducts, calling from call centers in India, I just don’t trust them and I also don’t want to have people working in the house I don’t trust. Maybe unscrupulous companies have employees who might take stuff while on the job or else “case” the house to plan a break in later. So I wanted a company who cares about their reputation.

Enercare came to clean my Furnance. I pay for insurance so there was no cost. Service rep was professional, called prior to coming to my home and took his time cleaning and did a thorough job. I recommend insurance for cleaning and maintenance issues.
